For the lumber mill: I built every "Leader" building in the large slots. Sniper Tower in the top slot-right does good work covering that side of the base. You can demote a leader with the only downside being a temporary slight negative morale (I think -20) for that person. It also bounces them back to "Civilian" status so you have to retrain them to get them back to "Hero". Any facility you build will still work and function even without the appropriate leader. The leader is only needed to build the facility. Build the Level 3 Farm and Trade Post then demote the leader, to promote a Builder and Build the Watchtower. You still get the Trade post Radio Command, the full Level 3 Farm, and even if you change leaders again the Sniper Tower is still going to provide the Sniper Cover Radio Command. Could probably switch out the Armory for a lounge, but the Red Talon Officer Barracks works just as well and only occupies the small slot.
Yeah the only one I’m not running right now is the sniper tower but the base is running pretty good I might revisit this base and the fire station in a video
I'll agree with you overall. But as you stated, undead labs basically made this map to be the learning map, which means its a bit toned down so you can learn what you ate doing. If i remember right from the live stream when they unveiled this map, they said the starter base was set up aling with what was around it to let you get a feel for the game, and build your way up bases as you learned. As for the fire station, you said it perfectly, its almost custom built for use while your wirking on legacies, mostly the builders. Is it great after you have it, not really, but the bell combined with the fire truck and a pyro launcher, with a sniper tiwer makes such a wicked combination. Its almost scary. For me the saw mill is the Perfect long term base. Because you put the sniper tower in the corner of the base. Trade Armory Hospital Farm Sniper I keep a van in the center of the parking area facing sideways, so that during sieges i can be up on it, usually with a pyro to deal with everything but juggys, and a .50 cal to deal with them. That way 1 person can cover that entire area, that leaves 2 in the sniper tower to cover 1/2 the bases sides, plus 5 more for back up on 2 sides, plus covering the other door, assuming i have not collected enough vehicles to block off all but the 2 parking area doors. The major advantage to the infinity base is simple, the morale bonus for having All the leaders projects built keeps you massively boosted, to the point i have had someone "die" and still been at sonethung like 85-90% happy. But i also use a lot of morale boosters like the wood burners and chairs, so its not limited to a specific type of facility. Next time im there, ill take a snapshot or invite you to see it.
i’m sorry but my lumber mill is amazing, i have two hydroponics, 1 infirmary, large slots i have and armoury, a level 3 lounge, an auto shop, then the warlord barracks, and the sniper tower in the top right, i put vehicles infront of all the other exits apart from the one on the right and the snipers shred them, the lumber mill is the infinity gauntlet because you can change out the large slots for anything you need at the time because there’s no penalty to materials and i honestly think it’s amazing because i sometimes switch up my auto shop for a staging area and then the sniper tower for the trade depot, it’s such a good base
I really liked the fire station, even though I didn't need some of the built-in facilities. I missed having a small exterior slot at the Lumber Mill. Now that the NPCs actually aim straight, the Fire Station watchtower is OP.
i am going to revisit the fire station alot of people are telling me they like it alot so im going to live in it for a while and see how it is..... :D how are the built ins working for u are they pretty good???
Fire station is okay. But hate bases with ladders like the strip mall and members wondering around the base roof tops and I cant find them. Then have to force switch to them. Also Fire station out in the middle of no action. All the friendly needy neighbors way across the map for missions. Fire station reminds me of the container fort. Out in the middle of no where. So burning through gasoline on each road trip. I ditched the lumber mill pretty quickly as well. I'm staying at the fenced in warehouse at the moment. I get the Mike's Concrete vibe from it. All the needy neighbors all on the same road pretty much. Other then the new group to the south. But I make a trip to them since they know mechanics. Trying to recruit them to bump my group back to 12.
I also loved the Fire station, it's really great for a new community, I honestly don't like the builder boon, it takes the fun out of earning power & water. Also having a built kitchen is always preferred for me because of the massive morale boosts you get through it, the fact it's built in is a huge plus
my favorite base is still the Rusty Rosie's. when the new update hits, i will use it as my training facility. that huge field infront of it where Zeds constantly are spawning, is perfect to level up new survivors. and i love the location right beside the "river highway"
The Lumber Mill should have 1 small outdoor slot where the fire pit is. That way you could install a standard watchtower if your Leader is not a Builder. A trick to resolve watchtower coverage issues is to "barricade" the entrances to the base you don't use by parking vehicles in front of them. I've done this with both the Warehouse and Lumber Mill as the main buildings are tall and obstruct watchtower fire.
My first play through was with an established community, so I immediately jumped from the fire tower to the fire station and never moved, so I didn't get the full flavor of the new bases. However, I just finished that one and am now starting over and am going to try the smaller ones. Once I've done that, I'll have a better picture of how well each one is defended and ease of movement around the map. I enjoyed your video and look forward to more, you have a new subscriber!
I held onto that CLEO error log for an entire game thinking I’d get some radio message to search some location based on deciphering the contents of the error log. Like it was a coded message. I was sorely disappointed to learn it was just another item to clog my storage bank.
Firestation: Sheriff Leader Lvl 3 Lounge Large Med Hydroponics/compost/FOOD Hydroponics/soil amendments/MEDS Lvl 2 Shooting Range Built ins Huge morale/ max training power Gives big bonuses to endurance and health Firestation: Trader Leader Trade Depot Lvl 3 Farm/FOOD Hydroponics/MEDS Lvl 2 Still (influence!!!) Infirmary Built ins Tons of influence!!! P.s. the training facility built in also adds a bonus to passively curing injury. NEATO
I love the fire station (im a fire fighter so am biased) But i do hope they do something to it to make it a bit more appealing compared to the lumber mill. Using the utility room is so annoying when I need to manually refresh it all the damn time
My Lumber Mill base: 1 Outdoor Bed updated to Luxurious 1 Lounge updated to Level 3 1 Farm updated to Level 3 1 Staging Area The small lots would be Infirmary, Workshop and Kitchen / Gym The point is to get max morale boost, free material maintenance, so I can save outpost slots for other resources.
With the new update 25 adding in plague territories, I came back to this game and glad I came across this video. Was trying to decide which base to move into, the lumber mill or the fire station, and im will land on the fire station.
Current Lumbermill setup on Dread difficulty without breaking my back over it: - Built-In Indoor: Sawmill - Built-in Indoor: Heavy Duty Storage 3 - Built-in Indoor: Command Center 2 - Small Indoor: Kitchen 2 - Small Indoor: Workshop 3 - Small Indoor: Infirmary 3 - Large Outdoor: Auto Shop - Large Outdoor: Trade Depot - Large Outdoor: Barracks 2 - Large Outdoor: Lounge 2 - Large Outdoor: Farm 3 - Outpost 1: Power - Outpost 2: Water - Outpost 3: Meds - Outpost 4: Materials - Outpost 5: x2 Beds
@@BrianMenard -4/day, not a problem cranking out mats back to back with the sawmill and Trade Depot. Sound is "managed" by simply not having hordes: just park vehicles across the various entrances and the attacks stop happening unless you purposefully go out and stir up the crowd.
The layout that I used for the fenced warehouse was: Lounge lv3 Field hospital Workshop lv3 Fighting gym lv1 or lv2 Hydroponics Hydroponics Shooting range lv2 Watch tower lv2 ------------ Outposts: Depending on how many people have bed out posts. Example; 8 people have 3 bed outposts (already have 2 beds from lounge) The rest materials outposts. ------------ Hope it helped :)
Brian Menard yeah that was my exact thought process :) and your welcome. Plus if you want you can also swap out the shooting or training for an infirmary and swap out the field hospital for the trading depot as you wanted in the video :)
I think I would have to agree with you that the building supply place looks like the best base as it is almost fully customizable and has brilliant storage right from the start. For the lumber mill I would prefer to swap one of those large slots for another two small ones which would make the base more versatile. Ideally you should be able to pull down more slots in the fire station as many of the facilities aren’t really buildings that most players would choose to have like the latrine and generator.
My lumber mill base includes, trade depot, Field hospital, 2 farms, fighting gym, shooting range and workshop mainly just for the bonus health and stamina, they do need to add some outdoor small slots though.
Fire station is my fav. I feel like I have to have water, power, and a pooper in my base. Since it can make it own power that means I don’t have to take over a power station and I can use that slot for extra food.
I like all of them but the firehouse. Too many built ins I'll never use. Though underpowered, I like the ranger tower the best of starter bases because it's just cooler, and pretty compact/easy to defend. The 2 mid bases are probably the best. I like the 5 slots of the lumber mill, but you're right, the tower doesn't seem to do any good at all. Just wastes 2 bodies that could be down defending the base.
I’m taking it slow and have only just moved into rusty rosies so this was great info - thank you 🙌 The fire station was hyped up, huge disappointment based on your info I think
I think it has a lot of value if you're starting out or first time community. Easy Moral, Power for when you don't have boons, and lots of ways to train/buff xp. I wouldn't call it a disappointment, just made for a different purpose. The Lumber Mill is definitely the "End Game/Did it all" base.
Alex yeah I think the fire house suits certain ppl it is the perfect base for them I guess it just didn’t fit me personally but yeah ur right that for a new person playing or even a person that likes all those built ins it would be the perfect base 😁😁😁
21:09 the coverage of the Sniper tower is pretty dexent in that base, the only aiming problem for it i found was in the slot left from the clearable lumber. There they mosly shot Zombies creeping to the west side gate, but had porblems getting the Shots on Zombies coming from the River, because of the Big satelite bowl on the fence
im hoping in future (i know they probably wont do this) they make a new map catered towards players that do have maxed out community members or want a real challenge, something like trumbal valley where there are basically just plague zombies that you cant stop spawning, plague special infected and a large city in the middle where they all congregate, somewhere with high loot potential but high danger, then have a few cool bases around the outside like this map has that are different and offer different playstyles or role play perspectives, and that dont have so many built ins, ones like the biker kitchen or fueltank watchtower are really great additions but then just having basic latrines or gyms/beds is a waste. i would love to go through on nightmare mode with a new community of badasses building them up, losing people and joining others to try and make the best community i could in a harsh envirmoment, also have the look in the main town respawn every 30 days or something (i know its immersion breaking but i just want an exciting challenge where i dont need to move every time ive looted everywhere)
yeah if you play on PC you can deff make the game harder for sure XD XD !!! but yeah it would be cool if they added a feature that instead of leaving the area ur living it to go to a new map that you could just reset the maps loot but yeah that would be cool that like after 30 days or so new containers are available inside some of the buildings again....
Am Good In The Truck Stop An leaning toward The Fire House Because I Run Multiple Vehicles In My Play And It Has Four Slots For Parking And build in work shop, Nice Vid Thanks For The Info
Also, there's too much wasted space inside the bases. I mean, i wish Undead Labs will add a feature wherein you'll have an option to like clear a garage and gain 1 small indoor slot. As of the moment the game does not have that feature yet. We can only clear trash piles, etc.
Oh man thanks for the upload. Im at the truck stop base and i didn’t know that about the fuel tank watch tower duh!!! Lol well to be fair i just moved from my base to here lol
For the lumber mill Build sniper tower in bottem right so it covers 2 sides of the base Then barracks in bottem left upgrade to barracks 2 In one of the small slots build red talon officers quarters with white noise machine for morale Barracks in top right Build infirmary and workshop inside small slots And in one of the large slots build farm and maintence building
Quick checkup from my base in the lumbermill. Only with warlord no other usage of other leaders. (because i didnt know) INDOOR small place from top Workshop +3 Clinic +1 (i do not need bigger cuz it costs with every lvl more medic/eachday) Hydroculture +3 OUTSIDE big places from top right spartan barracks (warlord) FARM +3 Armory Rescue station spartan barracks (again) at this point i have space for 12 ppl total. I tell you know my income; -1,5 food / day +1 Med +1 Ammo +0 Material This is only with warlord and it was just my first run, i didnt find really good heroes but it does really well. All my characters are weak and i do not have good mods. The defence sucks yes but if you give your community good weapons and good melee, they do not have big problems NO ONE DIED in my lumbermill. But in my medium base my mechanic guy died... I have no watchtower (pretty useless if you like i said gear your people up) I easily managed through this and i do believe i can survive COVID 19 pandemic aswell here in the lumbermill :P My second run will be for sure much better here. I didnt know that the community deletes after you finish the mission. I thought the comunity is gonna stay and then i can explore every single corner of the city or find new mods. Now i have like nothing left and finished the last quest without knowing you would be able to choose 3 ppl with you and they bring all their inventory with them.... this hurts alot i had good guns and melee and some nice mods that i will not find easy again :(((
my siege threat was always highest without even running the lumbermill to gain materials. My rescue station is just dope it covers all materials that would get in deficit. :))
Alistair W it’s just a outline of the garage area in that base when I first saw it I also thought it was something but no it’s just for the garage there it serves no purpose lol
My lumbermill with 9 survivor Command center lv3 Small slot: Bed Kitchen workshop Large slot: Sniper tower Trade depot Field hospital Farm(2) outpost: 2 bed house 1 material outpost 1 power outpost and i left 1 blank outpost so i can effectively store things wherever i am and yes it cost many influence but its easy to gain. also the leader can be demote(-20 morale) and choose another leader so you can make new project, the old project doesnt go off thats why i have 3 leader project, sadly i think it breaks the game.
yeah bro im going to be doing another look at the 2 large bases after living in them a little more and talking with people like you but yeah i might of went kinda Ham on it for sure the one thing i think does need to get buff alittle is the Mats u get 3 isnt enough im thinking at least a full ruck worth u know what i mean :D !!!! but u right bro
So currently for small slots I have a workshop 3, infirmary 3, and hydroponics (this and a few food outposts do the trick with compost bin and seeds). For outdoor left to right I have sniper tower (builder), staging area, luxury barracks (white noise machine), lounge 3 (trader) with gaming console, (one bed outpost covers 10), and the last alternates between armory or whatever I need. You can sub the hydroponic for a sheltered bed to use a farm 3 (trader ) and free up outposts. Hope this helps.
Also I have someone with Lichenology (2 meds a day), and fishing (2 food per day) with some good traits and hero abilities for characters. Gotta hunt a little though for them.
Dude that’s a nice set up and having that rotating slot I like that idea a lot and getting those ppl with those skills is nice !!!! Thanks for that man 😁😁😁
Brian Menard you’re much better at the game than I am. I watch your videos. I just came up with this build to maximize morale and have no upkeep cost per day. The flexible large slot (to change to trade Depot or armory or whatever) is more valuable to me than a small slot.
So...you can "Hack" a failed CLEO drop, and you get all the equipment inside (but you need to have someone with computer skills), or you can just destroy it, and you get at least SOME loot out of it, plus a slot for building?
About Rusty Rosie, that base was pretty bugged to me... Regulary I found zeds inside my base coming from nowhere, even screamers who never crossed any doors! Even Juggernauts were able to pass doors in that base! And a base you can't really secure with outposts... too bad cause I really loved the idea of Moonshine but really hated to have watching constantly my back even when suppose to be safe in base... thanks for video. Next step for me, the Lumber mill.
Thierry Meury thank you for that update I have heard about random screamers showing up in that base also but yeah I would get out of there ASAP before something happens I know what I mean let me know how that lumbermill is 😁😁😁😁
My lumber mill is built up like this: Small slots: Workshop, infirmary, hydroponics Large slots: sniper tower (top slot pretty effective), lounge, staging area, barracks and farm. All are fully upgraded, and I have the luxury barracks. Morale is always enthusiastic. A big negative is that I always have a high attack risk. I have 10 survivors And I get 3 food, 5 meds and 4 of all other resources every day. I do need to mention that this is my main community which is still on standard mode.
Kylian that’s a pretty good set up I would like to see how demanding the food cost is on nightmare with that many ppl you might be ok with outposts and your hydroponics im not sure
I have mine setup with workshop, infirmary and hydroponics, but i also have large sniper tower, trading post, staging area, spartan barracks, and am converting the 5th to a field hospital
@@BrianMenard I keep mine on the one offset large slot. near my cars so it keeps zombies away a bit when im fiddling with the cars in the 2 parking spots next to it.
Aaronlcyrus that spot does seem to have good coverage overall I think they should of made the base a U shape instead of an L with the slots because that back side is where the water is and not a lot of zombies come from that way I wish you could put it on the front side with the road and bridge
yeah im not a fan of it at all i like it a little more now but i actually love the firestation base a lot now because of how i play without boons but with boons its bad
Even just one outdoor small slot would make the lumber yard worth living in. But yea I hate the lumber mill. And can’t believe undead labs didn’t think about the fact that watchtowers can’t hit anything at that base. Lol
Lumbermill is the worst base especially in Nightmare. There is no proper way to reduce the threat. With this base, I bet you will have ugly visitors every 30 minutes like Christmas day.
I think the best base on the map is the biker gang bar. I'm currently staying in the saw mill and I've been very disappointed. It was supposed to be the infinity gauntlet of bases and it is not.
Prabhakar Raj yeah Infestations are annoying to keep up with what I usually do is I go out clear them all at least 1 time every few days once you get caught up on them it’s not to hard to keep them low
I feel like you missed a few key things. The biker bar's watchtower can hold two people from the beginning, and if you spend any time there you find that that side is very protected compared to a normal watchtower (I didn't have any problems during sieges or wandering hordes). The warehouse looked like it's watchtower would have some difficulty hitting anywhere besides the side it's put on (all the small slots had a large building beside it; basically no good place for a watchtower), but I haven't based there yet so I can't say much else. I feel like you made a lot of personal assumptions about the Firestation. "a lot of people don't use most of these," I don't think I've seen a youtuber who doesn't use a kitchen (Besides you I guess), many swear by snacks. The fighting gym iirc can boost stamina for a short time iirc, but other than that I can see limited use. I don't like the Utility room either, it's only use is water and/or electricity, not even directly moral boosting or anything. The bathroom is preference, but if you have anything that hurts morale it would offset that, any negative traits or lacking an appropriate number of beds. Lastly, the Scout tower allows for three people to be on the roof shooting at once, you basically get 360 degree coverage, which on the easiest setting means you're fine, and I would think on the middle setting you're still not gonna have zombie troubles. I almost forgot - the whole yard has a spiked fence around it, unlike any of the others, zombies have to go to the gates to get in, that in itself is extra defense with no real inconvenience to people. I very much like the firestation. the others I feel you have pretty spot-on, I don't like the fact that the logging facility doesn't have small slots either because I don't want to have to demote anyone, so without a sniper tower the threat is basically maxed the whole time anyway, unless you optimize everything else. However, if you have a -1 or -2 materials per day the special facility would basically offset that, if you want to make sure you have a daily siege or three...
0PrinceDusk0 yes you are 100% correct I reviewed these bases before I really spent a lot of time in them but I spent a lot of time In the fire house and I love the base it was a lesson learned for me to spend more time in the base before reviewing it but yes everything you said is correct 😁😁😁😁 thank you
i really like all these bases, i prefer that the first base is different to the other 3 i wish they were all like that honestly, it gets boring starting in the same base every time and just rushing to get to the next one, i found my self staying in the starting base this time way longer than i did before because of the aesthetic and location. i like the rusty rosie, because its i pretty nice base, located kind of in the middle, and when i played through with a warlord this is where i set up and stayed because i felt it suited the group i had more, the storage place is good but i just dont enjoy it and the two large ones are again unique and great in their own ways, ive set up at the fire station twice now because without the community buffs from completing nightmare mode its a really good base.
:D !!! yes i am revisiting the 2 large bases spending alittle more time in them everyone is telling me to give them another chance to see how good they are so thats what im doing currently but yeah i do think the starter bases should have alot of differences that would make the start of each game unique for sure that is a great idea and i think rustys and the warehouse base are the best ones on the map i love those 2 there really good
@@BrianMenard i am glad you agree, i would love each map to have a different style starting base if not for inbuilt slots then just aesthetic reasons just so the start of each map wasnt a rush to get out of the boring house base. i like to make challenges in these games for myself and i feel like if you started a game with no legacy bonuses and basic people you would get way much more out of the fire station, it feels like thats what the niche of this base is supposed to be, a safe area where you can train up a community and be protected from hordes its got all the stuff for a new community, but for a maxe out one it is fairly restrictive, i like the storage locker but it was just a bit boring of a place to play in from my perspective, rosies is my favourite by far and while i like the lumber mill i feel that the lack ouf small outdoor slots hurt it too much, if they really wanted it to be the ultimate base everyone wants they should of added 2 small as well, or even just remove a large and add 2 or 3 small then if they didnt want it to be too good, as it is i still prefer the mall base and the bridge base on the basic maps
@@lewisosborne6843 thats exactly what i think about the lumbermill base it would be soooo good if they just added some outdoor small slots it would be very good but yes i dont know if u seen the rest of my channel but i am all about playing with hard rules i dont ever play just normal nightmare zone i add tons of rules to make the game very hard i even started playing with mods now that add plague freaks into the normal game :D!!!!!
@@BrianMenard honestly no mate i havent, ill give them a look though, im glad to be coming back to this game now its on steam, but im having issues getting multiplayer to let me find matches with people. i always loved making stupid rule sets for myself haha like extermination where you killl every zombie you see, no melee weapons no guns just the knife, one survivor to day 100 (only done on SoD 1), martyrdom if you go down you are dead no getting up (used to do it with a grenade in my inventory on S0D1), always hostile attack all other settlements and survivors apart from ones you search for on radio to join you. not moving starting base. not having a base again only did this on the first game
@@lewisosborne6843 yeah thats kinda how i play i am currently doing a crafting only playthrough where im not allowed to loot thing i can only use thing that i craft myself like guns weapons consumables its alot of fun honestly
The fire station is better than the lumber mill it has all the basic utilities and watchtower, except an infirmary it has 3 small slots and two big ones. My layout One Farm lvl3 One trade depot One infirmary lvl3 Two beds lvl 2 one in door and one out door (first I had 10 followers then went down to 9) Built in worshop lvl 3 Built in bathroom Built in kitchen Built in watchtower Built in gym Built in storage Built in coms (doesn’t count)
Juan Alvarado I use Mods to make the game harder because nightmare zone to me is easy now so I have mods to add plague freaks more plague hearts and to make my maps have 20x the zombies
Juan Alvarado yeah that’s true hahaha 😂😂😂😂 yeah people on Xbox can add all the hearts to ur game on a PC then load the game on Xbox and they will remain there
I like the base with the fire tower!! But i don´t like that you cant use the fire tower on top with bed and a safezone for the survivers!! This Tower is safe and i wish you could do more with the fire tower!... The next point would be good if you could use teh roof of the tower to put solar power on it... The fire station is the other one i like! The rest i don´t like! I wish you could close the doors permanent until you go through... I hate the lumber mill! To wide open and the raid of hordes are higher!
Erik Stroehlein that’s a good set up man I really like that I’m planning on growing my group to over 20 people so I need a base that can generate a lot of food
When you have a sherrif as a leader, the lumber mill is perfect! In the small you have a workshop, officers bunk, kitchen, the Large you take two barracks, a fieldhospital, a farm and a lounge 3! Moral is damn high!
Brian Menard it might be glitched since it also has a mission enabled called “building our own gear.” And has me searching for components that is optional nothing signals the mission on the map.
My personal philosophy on bases is that all multi-floor bases suck. As soon as I see that a base I'm scouting out has more than one floor it's automatically out of consideration.
drw1926 yeah you are so right about that that’s the main issue with the corner office the AI don’t know how to do anything on those multi floor bases I lost a lot of people in that base
Decided to drop the builder boon on new community I started. In meaghey valley now and definetly think I prefer not having free water/power. Think ima move to the fire station here when I change maps. Almost done making a pile of beer to bring with me at sequelones brewery lol
I was pretty pissed off when i build almost everything at the lumber mill but didnt have enough ethanol to upgrade lounge to level 3 🤨 😂 delete community so i can open a new community and start my crafting only playthru 😆
lmao yeah after being on it for a while with all 3 of my series im about ready to go to a different map u should move and check out the new atmosphere of the other maps they look alot different :D !!!!
Robert Handke it’s because I have a max level command post but then you can get the network satellite which is a mod u can install which gives you 2 more so a total of 6 but then if u get a red talon from day break to join up with you with the hacking skill you can get another one so 7 in total 😁😁😁
@@BrianMenard mh okay, i have lvl 3 command and the sattelite gives me only 1 extra slots...is there better mod or what is the max lvl of the command post?
The Fenced Warehouse is up there with the Container Fort as the best base in the game. My set up... 2x Red Talon Officer Quarters (in with the storage) with white noise machines 2x Red Talon Watchtower (left and right outdoor slots) 1x Red Talon Workshop (middle outoor slot) with rifle ammo press 1x Infirmary 3 (in with the command center) with sanitising machine 1x Farm 3 (top left) with fertiliser 1x Trade Depot (bottom right) with a comfy chair to sit in because I've got nothing to do Zero threat and 100 morale. If I need anything I just call in a trader.
😂😂😂 bro your not lying hahaha I was extremely annoying back when I first started doing videos I hope I’m alittle better now a days but if not let me know I’m all for some constructive criticism 😁👍🏼
For the lumber mill:
I built every "Leader" building in the large slots.
With the trade depot you could get every ammo press, then have 1 more big slot.
I'll agree with you overall. But as you stated, undead labs basically made this map to be the learning map, which means its a bit toned down so you can learn what you ate doing. For me the saw mill is the Perfect long term base. Because you put the sniper tower in the corner of the base.

I keep a van in the center of the parking area facing sideways, so that during sieges i can be up on it, usually with a pyro to deal with everything but juggys, and a .50 cal to deal with them. Next time im there, ill take a snapshot or invite you to see it.
cover bases ? npc;s are dumb as fuck xD bases feel dead en npc's attack much to slow
i’m sorry but my lumber mill is amazing, i have two hydroponics, 1 infirmary, large slots i have and armoury, a level 3 lounge, an auto shop, then the warlord barracks, and the sniper tower in the top right, i put vehicles infront of all the other exits apart from the one on the right and the snipers shred them, the lumber mill is the infinity gauntlet because you can change out the large slots for anything you need at the time because there’s no penalty to materials and i honestly think it’s amazing because i sometimes switch up my auto shop for a staging area and then the sniper tower for the trade depot, it’s such a good base
Oli Wood yeah when I made this video I didn’t spend a whole lot of time there but now I have and your right I love the base 😁👍🏼
Brian Menard thanks for replying to my comment, i really love ur videos, u make great content bud
Oli Wood 😁👍🏼 thank you if you ever have any questions just ask
Brian Menard cheers man i appriciate it
Still happy with it?
I really liked the fire station, even though I didn't need some of the built-in facilities. I missed having a small exterior slot at the Lumber Mill. Now that the NPCs actually aim straight, the Fire Station watchtower is OP.
yeah im going to revisit the big bases so i can give them a fair chance :D !!!!! i love the fact the AI can shoot now also hahaha
I’ve tried out every base but only one stood out for me, the Fire Station gets 10/10 from me. It’s beautiful and cozy! Felt like a home🙃
i am going to revisit the fire station alot of people are telling me they like it alot so im going to live in it for a while and see how it is..... :D how are the built ins working for u are they pretty good???
Brian Menard I don’t use the generator/water facility as I have the boon but I really like the rest. The lighting at night amazing too. 🙃
GRAW2ROBZ I love that base ur at it’s my favorite 😁😁
I also loved the Fire station, it's really great for a new community, I honestly don't like the builder boon, it takes the fun out of earning power & water. Also having a built kitchen is always preferred for me because of the massive morale boosts you get through it, the fact it's built in is a huge plus
I hope for sod3 they use like a 7 days to die random map generation tool. I love surprises and would love a actual city map
This video really helped me pick the right base to where I'm gaining resources like crazy
my favorite base is still the Rusty Rosie's. when the new update hits, i will use it as my training facility. that huge field infront of it where Zeds constantly are spawning, is perfect to level up new survivors. and i love the location right beside the "river highway"
I've done this with both the Warehouse and Lumber Mill as the main buildings are tall and obstruct watchtower fire.
namaikikitsune that’s a really good idea it’s crazy I always forget to block the entrances with cars lol
One advantage of this map is that rare cases are in non zombies swamped areas. So it is easier to bulk up on weapons early on.
I enjoyed your video and look forward to more, you have a new subscriber!
b david greenwell thank you so much yes please when you get a good feel for the other bases please let me know what you think about them 😁😁😁
I held onto that CLEO error log for an entire game thinking I’d get some radio message to search some location based on deciphering the contents of the error log. Like it was a coded message.
I was sorely disappointed to learn it was just another item to clog my storage bank.
Where’s Da Plane yeah I was hoping that there was something more to that I don’t get why they even added it 😩😩😩😩

Tons of influence!!!
P.s. the training facility built in also adds a bonus to passively curing injury.
NEATO
Ed Beals yeah I just moved into this base in my main series thank you for this 😁😁😁
I love the fire station (im a fire fighter so am biased) But i do hope they do something to it to make it a bit more appealing compared to the lumber mill. Using the utility room is so annoying when I need to manually refresh it all the damn time
ikr and the fact that builder boons basically make it useless.
My Lumber Mill base:
1 Outdoor Bed updated to Luxurious
1 Lounge updated to Level 3
1 Farm updated to Level 3
1 Staging Area
The small lots would be Infirmary, Workshop and Kitchen / Gym
The point is to get max morale boost, free material maintenance, so I can save outpost slots for other resources.
Great Video Brian !
Thank you so much 😁😁😁
Luv the vid keep it coming bro but yea my bad for not watching ur live vids lately been busy getting prepare and on lockdown by the covid-19 💯
IAM PMTLOVE dude it’s all good man trust me I understand I’m glad u come around at all 😁😁😁😁
With the new update 25 adding in plague territories, I came back to this game and glad I came across this video. Was trying to decide which base to move into, the lumber mill or the fire station, and im will land on the fire station.
Fire station is amazing
Current Lumbermill setup on Dread difficulty without breaking my back over it:
- Built-In Indoor: Sawmill
- Built-in Indoor: Heavy Duty Storage 3
- Built-in Indoor: Command Center 2
- Small Indoor: Kitchen 2
- Small Indoor: Workshop 3
- Small Indoor: Infirmary 3
- Large Outdoor: Auto Shop
- Large Outdoor: Trade Depot
- Large Outdoor: Barracks 2
- Large Outdoor: Lounge 2
- Large Outdoor: Farm 3
- Outpost 1: Power
- Outpost 2: Water
- Outpost 3: Meds
- Outpost 4: Materials
- Outpost 5: x2 Beds
so how does that set up work for u it seems pretty good hows your material usage??
@@BrianMenard -4/day, not a problem cranking out mats back to back with the sawmill and Trade Depot. Sound is "managed" by simply not having hordes: just park vehicles across the various entrances and the attacks stop happening unless you purposefully go out and stir up the crowd.
TheDeaconErudite I like the way you have this set up
The layout that I used for the fenced warehouse was:
Lounge lv3
Field hospital
Workshop lv3
Fighting gym lv1 or lv2
Hydroponics
Hydroponics
Shooting range lv2
Watch tower lv2
------------
Outposts:
Depending on how many people have bed out posts.
Example; 8 people have 3 bed outposts (already have 2 beds from lounge)
The rest materials outposts.
------------
Hope it helped :)
Weezy dude thank you so much I will try this do u like the field hospital I have never used it
Brian Menard I used the field hospital in the lumber mill as-well and it is very good, it is basically a level 3 infirmary with extra bonuses!
@@solzv0 ok yeah and using that will make it so i dont have to waste a small slot on a infirmary :D !!!! thank you
Brian Menard yeah that was my exact thought process :) and your welcome.
Svengar yes that’s how I feel man the bases are so close to being really good I feel with just a little tuning they would be amazing
My lumber mill base includes, trade depot, Field hospital, 2 farms, fighting gym, shooting range and workshop mainly just for the bonus health and stamina, they do need to add some outdoor small slots though.
what are you running on the farms just food or food and meds?
@@BrianMenard just food then got med outposts, then just call traders in if I'm low on anything.
@@aaron_2911 thats not a bad set up :D !!!! i need to start using the fighting gym more
Fire station is my fav. I feel like I have to have water, power, and a pooper in my base. Since it can make it own power that means I don’t have to take over a power station and I can use that slot for extra food.
You've always got to have to fighting gym, the change to get +30 health is great.
yeah i think alot of ppl forget about the gym giving that i think most ppl look at it as a way to train fighting faster
Stamina>Health
Zachary Rogers yeah when you use the weight set mod you also get extra health right ?
@@BrianMenard yes you do. I don't find any of the training facilities useful.
@@zacharyrogers1071 i use them to level faster but yes once you have max ppl there only good for the buffs at that point
I seriously just play the game randomly and do fine I guess. But you guys have it all figured out damn .
Fábio Nunes lol thanks for watching yeah some people don’t have issues with the ferals but a lot of us there a pain to deal with
I like all of them but the firehouse.
Lord Vengeance yeah I think they need to tune up the lumbermill just a little bit
I’m taking it slow and have only just moved into rusty rosies so this was great info - thank you 🙌
The fire station was hyped up, huge disappointment based on your info I think
Yeah it’s just the built ins are not ones I use that much so I felt it was just wasted small slots
I agree, for endgame content, it's rather disappointing! If you have new characters to beef up, it's great, but that's it!
If they replaced the east dock for 2 or 3 small outdoor slots, then the lumber mill would be the best
Johnny Joestar exactly 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
21:09 the coverage of the Sniper tower is pretty dexent in that base, the only aiming problem for it i found was in the slot left from the clearable lumber. There they mosly shot Zombies creeping to the west side gate, but had porblems getting the Shots on Zombies coming from the River, because of the Big satelite bowl on the fence
Ryushiin yeah I do like this base more now that I have been using it more 😁😁😁
im hoping in future (i know they probably wont do this) they make a new map catered towards players that do have maxed out community members or want a real challenge, something like trumbal valley where there are basically just plague zombies that you cant stop spawning, plague special infected and a large city in the middle where they all congregate, somewhere with high loot potential but high danger, then have a few cool bases around the outside like this map has that are different and offer different playstyles or role play perspectives, and that dont have so many built ins, ones like the biker kitchen or fueltank watchtower are really great additions but then just having basic latrines or gyms/beds is a waste.
i would love to go through on nightmare mode with a new community of badasses building them up, losing people and joining others to try and make the best community i could in a harsh envirmoment, also have the look in the main town respawn every 30 days or something (i know its immersion breaking but i just want an exciting challenge where i dont need to move every time ive looted everywhere)
yeah if you play on PC you can deff make the game harder for sure XD XD !!! but yeah it would be cool if they added a feature that instead of leaving the area ur living it to go to a new map that you could just reset the maps loot but yeah that would be cool that like after 30 days or so new containers are available inside some of the buildings again....
Am Good In The Truck Stop An leaning toward The Fire House Because I Run Multiple Vehicles In My Play And It Has Four Slots For Parking And build in work shop, Nice Vid Thanks For The Info
VoDKaSrt8RuM no problem man 😁😁😁😁 thank you for watching
Also, there's too much wasted space inside the bases. I mean, i wish Undead Labs will add a feature wherein you'll have an option to like clear a garage and gain 1 small indoor slot. As of the moment the game does not have that feature yet. We can only clear trash piles, etc.
I LIKE THE M/ C TRUCK STOP
charles kellam I do like it a lot also now
Oh man thanks for the upload. Im at the truck stop base and i didn’t know that about the fuel tank watch tower duh!!! Lol well to be fair i just moved from my base to here lol
Mieko Taylor 😁😁😁 yeah man that tower is so nice I hope that undead labs puts more into the game like that there so fun to
For the lumber mill
Build sniper tower in bottem right so it covers 2 sides of the base
Then barracks in bottem left upgrade to barracks 2
In one of the small slots build red talon officers quarters with white noise machine for morale
Barracks in top right
Build infirmary and workshop inside small slots
And in one of the large slots build farm and maintence building
michael meras I like that a lot I have to try out the tower in that spot for maximum coverage 😁😁😁 thank you so much
For anyone, the Farmland Compound is basically this but better. You get 8 free beds, infirmary and Kirchen. 4 large and 3 small
Thanks man 👍 just got back into the game might do a "how I survived covid-19" play though" 😂👏
Bearded_Z0mbie Gaming lol that would be cool 😂 I’m glad ur back to playing this game is amazing man

Workshop lvl 3
Infirmary lvl 3
Small Slots (Outdoor)
Watchtower
Garden lvl 3 (food) food compost bin
Garden lvl 2 (herbs) pesticide
Outpost (Network Signal)

I like that set up it’s pretty much what I run ur outposts are better then mine for sure
Quick checkup from my base in the lumbermill. Only with warlord no other usage of other leaders. (because i didnt know)
INDOOR small place from top
Workshop +3
Clinic +1 (i do not need bigger cuz it costs with every lvl more medic/eachday)
Hydroculture +3
OUTSIDE big places from top right
spartan barracks (warlord)
FARM +3
Armory
Rescue station
spartan barracks (again) at this point i have space for 12 ppl total.
I tell you know my income;
-1,5 food / day
+1 Med
+1 Ammo
+0 Material
This is only with warlord and it was just my first run, i didnt find really good heroes but it does really well. All my characters are weak and i do not have good mods.
The defence sucks yes but if you give your community good weapons and good melee, they do not have big problems NO ONE DIED in my lumbermill. But in my medium base my mechanic guy died... I have no watchtower (pretty useless if you like i said gear your people up) I easily managed through this and i do believe i can survive COVID 19 pandemic aswell here in the lumbermill :P
My second run will be for sure much better here.
What is that blueish slot next to the CLEO drop in the Fortified Truck Stop?
Alistair W it’s just a outline of the garage area in that base when I first saw it I also thought it was something but no it’s just for the garage there it serves no purpose lol
My lumbermill with 9 survivor
Command center lv3
Small slot:
Bed
Kitchen
workshop
Large slot:
Sniper tower
Trade depot
Field hospital
Farm(2)
outpost:
2 bed house
1 material outpost
1 power outpost
and i left 1 blank outpost so i can effectively store things wherever i am and yes it cost many influence but its easy to gain.
also the leader can be demote(-20 morale) and choose another leader so you can make new project, the old project doesnt go off thats why i have 3 leader project, sadly i think it breaks the game.
are both of ur farms for food or r u running 1 for meds?
@@BrianMenard its flexible thats why i like it whenever either my med or food is low i can just convert it or i can do both.
@@TheReaICatnip yeah i like that :D !!!!!
Good info my dude!👍😁
Warehouse base is a good base bud, better than most bases.
yeah bro im going to be doing another look at the 2 large bases after living in them a little more and talking with people like you but yeah i might of went kinda Ham on it for sure the one thing i think does need to get buff alittle is the Mats u get 3 isnt enough im thinking at least a full ruck worth u know what i mean :D !!!! but u right bro
Why don't they sleep inside the tower
RainbowZ Gaming no I agree I like being able to swap between those options for sure the only down side is the huge build times for them
So...you can "Hack" a failed CLEO drop, and you get all the equipment inside (but you need to have someone with computer skills), or you can just destroy it, and you get at least SOME loot out of it, plus a slot for building?
sopwithpuppy yeah I heard the only thing that’s different if you destroy it you don’t get the Cleo log sheet but I’m not sure
Thierry Meury thank you for that update I have heard about random screamers showing up in that base also but yeah I would get out of there ASAP before something happens I know what I mean let me know how that lumbermill is 😁😁😁😁
noti gang
lmao!!!!
My lumber mill is built up like this:
Small slots: Workshop, infirmary, hydroponics
Large slots: sniper tower (top slot pretty effective), lounge, staging area, barracks and farm.
@@Aaronlcyrus now your staging area that makes it so ur not losing materials rights? and what part are u guys putting the tower on so its effective ?
@@BrianMenard I keep mine on the one offset large slot. near my cars so it keeps zombies away a bit when im fiddling with the cars in the 2 parking spots next to it.
Aaronlcyrus that spot does seem to have good coverage overall I think they should of made the base a U shape instead of an L with the slots because that back side is where the water is and not a lot of zombies come from that way I wish you could put it on the front side with the road and bridge
Ur opinion on the final base is almost verbatim of how I would describe it.
Sawmill is the most worthless thing in that base.
yeah im not a fan of it at all i like it a little more now but i actually love the firestation base a lot now because of how i play without boons but with boons its bad
킬리킴 😂😂😂 very true I wish they had a outdoor small slot
I think the best base on the map is the biker gang bar. I'm currently staying in the saw mill and I've been very disappointed. It was supposed to be the infinity gauntlet of bases and it is not.
Yeah that’s how I felt it’s not that great I’m living in it right now though trying to min max and see if there’s something I’m missing
My current base is fortified truck something and i am always getting too many infestation ,
Prabhakar Raj yeah Infestations are annoying to keep up with what I usually do is I go out clear them all at least 1 time every few days once you get caught up on them it’s not to hard to keep them low

Erik Stroehlein how much food and meds are u producing with this set up and what are u running for outposts??
@@BrianMenard Not sure about the count, but I was running ammo and beds for my outposts.
What do you do for materials you run saw mill?
I mean...yeah. That's the whole point of the saw mill.
I’m a builder and a legacy mission says to secure a territory How do I do this?
Jennifer Mueller by clearing all the plague hearts
Brian Menard thank you so much!
Brian Menard what if you’ve already done that already?
Brian Menard it might be glitched since it also has a mission enabled called “building our own gear.” And has me searching for components that is optional nothing signals the mission on the map.
Jennifer Mueller once you kill all the hearts you will start your leaders missions to complete the game each leader has about 5
My personal philosophy on bases is that all multi-floor bases suck.
SGater84 u are a pro at deleting games lmao 😂😂😂 I could of gave u some
Brian Menard how exactly? 😂 its stupid they didnt add more save slots
@@SGater84 i could of come to your game and traded you some :D!!!!!
Brian Menard ah right 🤣 🤦🏻♂️ no worries it was just test run community anyway😁 its all good man thanks anyway! 😁👍
The only base i like is the biker bar
yeah its cool because its named after the bar in days gone :D !!!
I owned every base except the Rosie Diner/Bar. Friendly enclaves living there. Kinda bored with the map already.
lmao yeah after being on it for a while with all 3 of my series im about ready to go to a different map u should move and check out the new atmosphere of the other maps they look alot different :D !!!!
@@BrianMenard I wanted to play a little bit yesterday. But the game had a update. Didn't want to wait. So ended up playing Siege.
GRAW2ROBZ yeah that update got me last night before I recorded lol had to wait 30 mins lol
I'm on Xbox, and it automatically downloads updates, so I don't get the impact of waiting for them. I can imagine that it must be frustrating.
b david greenwell yeah Xbox was able to play right away when juggernaut came out while PC had to wait
why the hell you have 6!!! outpost slots? ;O
Robert Handke your prob using the lower level satellite There’s 2 of them you need the network one it gives 2 slots and the max level is 3
Watch towers kill your survivors...avoid them at all costs
The Fenced Warehouse is up there with the Container Fort as the best base in the game. My set up...
2x Red Talon Officer Quarters (in with the storage) with white noise machines
2x Red Talon Watchtower (left and right outdoor slots)
1x Red Talon Workshop (middle outoor slot) with rifle ammo press
1x Infirmary 3 (in with the command center) with sanitising machine
1x Farm 3 (top left) with fertiliser
1x Trade Depot (bottom right) with a comfy chair to sit in because I've got nothing to do
Zero threat and 100 morale. If I need anything I just call in a trader.
N7 Tigger that’s a legit set up man I like that a lot I’m having a lot of morale issues right now so I might try some of the out 😁😁😁👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Dude please stop saying "guys" every five seconds, it is extremely annoying.
😂😂😂 bro your not lying hahaha I was extremely annoying back when I first started doing videos I hope I’m alittle better now a days but if not let me know I’m all for some constructive criticism 😁👍🏼
