This is wonderful and perfect timing for me as I have my first piece of flipping furniture chalk painted and ready for a homemade stencil in front of me. Have to use a raised stencil to cover up one small imperfection I repaired in veneer. Lifesaver and TO...THE... POINT. Thank You 🙏🏽
Thanks! You just saved my life. I have about 12-15 things I need to paint just 2 weeks before Christmas, and I'm just now starting to explore the world of texture in my painting!!!!!! :)
@ayellessnuffelhoek Gesso should work as a substitute for the white paint, but you may need less powder in your mix to compensate. All gesso is not created equally! Some is thicker, and some is more thin, so play with it until you get the thickness you want. Hope that helped!
@missimoinsane I've found that this mixture drys a bit quicker than the average texture paste, as its a little lighter in consistency. In a dry climate (like mine) it only took about 20 minutes for a thicker layer to dry completely. As you mentioned, temperature, climate and moisture content of your specific glue/paint will effect your drying time. Hope that helped!
@ayellessnuffelhoek Any liquid glue with properties similar to Mod Podge (water based, clear drying, etc.) should work fine (Elmer's, Aleene's, etc.). And I would recommend mixing as needed for this recipe, if you can. This recipe tends to soften with time, so you may need to add extra powder to your mix, after storing for a bit, to achieve the same texture/lift as in a fresh batch. Hope that helped!!
I just made some and am testing it on paper before using it on my project. I am sure it works fine, I'm really testing my mixture, as I had to add a bit more talcum powder, since mine was a bit runny and seeped under my stencil. Adding more baby powder fixed it, but I hope it is ok when dry and won't crack and peel off. Thanks for sharing, I can't get modelling paste where I live :)
This is great if you want just the textured back ground but you can't mix with another paint without altering the color. I suppose you could exchange white with all primary colors this way and create your own colors though...just a thought, thanks for the vid
Thank You so much....I can't wait to try. I have been wondering what I might use as a substitute for joint compound. This should be a lot more cost effective.
Clear and to the point! The best news of all is that I do already have those items around the house. I'm hoping that I will also be able to use rubber stamps. Do you think it will work with this mixture? Thanks so much!
Good tutorial! Am going to try it in my lace molds. Talk about saving money! I wonder if just plain ol' Elmers would be less expensive than Mod podge and work as Well? At any rate thank u for sharing!
For some reason when I spread the paste I made onto a stencil it wont go on smooth. I have to let it sit for it to be smooth but when I move the stencil it gose back to being rough and wont smooth out. And it ends up being kinda powdery
This is fabulous. I noticed you didn't seem to measure the quantities, just approximated amounts so you can be a bit flexible with this, is that correct? I can't wait to try it.
This did NOT work on a canvas! It looked good when I applied it, but it was full of tiny cracks after it dried. I used the exact same recipe except the glue was white glue from the dollar store. I'm back to store bought gesso :(
Maybe because this is a recipe for "texture paste" not gesso. :( Unless they are the same thing, although the homemade gesso recipes I've watched were very close but not exactly like this one.
@@tazelproperties hey, I must have watched this video when I was at uni studying textile design. I wanted a technique I could use at home to make textured wallpaper samples, I honestly cannot remember even trying it. We used to use a screen with screen printing puff additive/paint but this might be a bit pricey. I don't see a reason why the technique in this video shouldn't hold up well on a wall, just test out your design on some card first. Sorry I couldn't be more help and good luck :)
Just curious. ...can this be used on canvas and how long will it hold up? I am thinking about selling some pieces, but want to be sure it won't Crack down the road. Thank you!
Gostaria muito de ter traduzido pelo menos os materiais misturados para que eu pudesse fazer aqui em meu athelier faço scrap mixed midia e essa mistura me parece genial só não pude traduzir. pena...

Wow-your own gesso! And your demo techniques are suuuuperb! I' be having a go-thanks a lot for sharing!

Thanks! I'm not an artist but I have an art project to make and now I can just make as much texturizing paint as I need without going over budget!!!

This is the best texture paste I've made so far....doesn't spread after I take off the stencil & is super easy to use :) Thank you!

Oh yeah the music is so much better than all the slow endless drivel of most craft videos!

Best recipe I've seen so far - and fun tutorial to watch, thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing this video! So nice to make this at home and produce unique cards with the medium.

Great idea! I use a little plaster of paris instead of talc, in my mixture! : ))
Marie ~ x
Marigoldblu how much plaster of Paris ? I have a lot
Thank you so much for this, I've seen loads of ideas with texture paste in and have never found it in a shop... and now I don't need to =D
This is awesomer than awesome! I was just looking for a way to make texture paste, and here it is! Thanks!
Good tutorial! Am going to try it in my lace molds. Talk about saving money! I wonder if just plain ol' Elmers would be less expensive than Mod podge and work as Well? At any rate thank u for sharing!
Can this be piped onto glass? Will it flake off? Looks interesting.
Great tutorial.
I think when I do this I will make it in several colors using paints that color shift or that contain glitter or shimmer.

This is the best. Thank you for sharing your invention. It saved me a lot of money..
wow that is way, way more fun than I thought it would be!! and sooooo easy thanks so much!
I see that you used a medium gel as your "white paste". Can I use a white paste i.e., Elmer' glue? I would think there is a big difference.
Hello .. cam we add oil paint in case we dnt have acrylic paint ?
thanks for sharing.can I use it on canvas for mural making???plus reply
What's nice is that you can use any acrylic color and make color texture paste for pennies on the dollar.

Will gesso work too instead of regular white paint? I got a huge jar... :D
Thank you so much ... can use acrylic white paint ??
This is awesome. Will this stick to canvas as well?
I can't wait to try this tomorrow!!!
This is fabulous. I noticed you didn't seem to measure the quantities, just approximated amounts so you can be a bit flexible with this, is that correct? I can't wait to try it.
Will this work on glass or will it just fall off?
Can you make a bunch and store it in a closed jar? And does the liquid glue matter what kind?
This is AWSOME!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us:)
I would love to try this with glass painting. Is it safe for oven baking or should I let the paint air cure?
i created my own mixture recipe and am going to use it in my new project altered book wreck this journal
Can the modge podge be glossy or needs to be matte? Can you use ink reinkers to tint? Thank you
Is it necessary to put acrylic paint? Also how will it take to completely dry?
How long will the mixture last in the container? Or should I only make enough for the project I am working on?
can texture paste be made without white paint? I been looking at making clear texture then paint over it
This did NOT work on a canvas! It looked good when I applied it, but it was full of tiny cracks after it dried. I used the exact same recipe except the glue was white glue from the dollar store. I'm back to store bought gesso :(

Can I use cornstarch instead of talc? How do you store it? Thank you
Love the music. What is it?

Is this method a substitution of "modelling paste"? The result seems like that. If that so, you help me to save about$15 usd. Thank you so much.
This a very great idea?! I'm gonna try it! Thanks!! :)))
very simple and easy to follow, thank you for sharing.8.4.18
How long does it take to dry :0)
Grazie per questo video! Non vedo l'ora di provare ;o)

Thank you so very much.

I'm curious where you got this formula from - testing in the shower? :D
You are the Best !!
Fantastic tutorial - thanks so much :o)
What is that cool music???
Does anybody know if it works in wood and MDF?
Leda Child Its paint so there's no reason it shouldn't stick to wood. Its just adding the talc for thickness and the glue for a binding/elasticity element.
+Belinda Short how did it turn out?
Thank s sooooo much i ll try right nox:-*
Thanks so much. It's easy and practical. I'll do it soon. Rgrds.
