I have been searching for a crackle you can do yourself, and you answered my prayer! I want to make a jewel box froma beautiful cigar box i have! And i want to crackle paint it! Thank you so much! I cant wait to try this technique out on my jewelbox! Love your project!
This is fantastic! I had no idea that I was spending $$ for the two part crackle stuff & all I needed was glue & paint. Thank you so much! Your project turned out pretty too!
I only bought one kind of crackle medium before and it was so thick, very hard to spread and only had little cracks. I like this better! Can't wait to see what you came up with :) Hugs~Jamie
wow that turned out so nice. love it. ive tried this technique but it didnt work. after watching a few tutorials including urs i think im being abit heavy handed with the glue and the paint. il try again lol. xxx
Hi Jamie --I'm so glad you did this tutorial! THank you! I loved the way your crackling came out -just beautiful! Will this technique work if I paint the oblest first with acrylic paint, then add my glue layer and acrylic paint layer? TFS ;)
Hi, You can use a color spray like Lindy Stamp Gang sells, there are a lot of company's that make them another is tattered angels. You can also use ink too, just wipe off with a baby wipe. I'm glad you liked the video! tfw
Hi Jamie...love how your projects turned out!! Beautiful & loved the tutorial. I think I'm going to use glue from now on instead of buying crackle. Saves a lot of money. Mine is uploading as we speak but prob. won't be on for another hour & a half. My computer takes forever...AGHHH...lol. Tfs, Hugs :)
Thanks for this! I am looking to "Distress" some slightly damaged frames before I engrave the glass, and the Crackle paint I found is quite expensive, this is a much cheaper alternative! Thanks again! Looks messy too, which is always fun! XD
What kind of glue are you using? Try regular Elmer's glue. I used the craft bond gel glue from Elmer's. Thanks for watching, I hope it works out for you :)
Great share Jamie, thank you!! I have some old wood spoons I was JUST getting ready to throw out but decided not too!! I know what I can do with them now!! :o) tfs, Chauntelle
I'm so glad I found this and you, I am now a new subscriber! Thank you so much for sharing this video. I have got Ranger crackle paint but I love to use it a lot now that I have discovered it, and now, well, no limit to colours and all that stuff, glue is still fairly cheap, lol. Thank you so very much, now let's get busy :)
Hi I was looking to find how to make your own crackle medium and came across your video. I have a question, can you use this technique on paper or canvas and if so that is awesome. I think I will try this out to see if it works, so thanks for the idea. By the way loved the drone it is so shabby chic ish!!!… In His Grace, ellescrapper
thanxxxxx. i got crackle effect but not as i wanted it to look so can u suggest me sumthing what can i do on it to look goood as in vintage style table
Meera Mehta tip if you spread your glue thin you'll get smaller cracks and spreading your glue thick gets you larger cracks. What ever color you paint as your base color. That is the color you will see through the cracks so you'll want a dark color. :)
Karen asked if you can paint your item first then put the glue down and then the paint on top. You probably want to do that so the cigar box doesn't show through. I told her to try it out on some chip board first to see if it works. I hope it works out for you! tfw Jamie
OMG Come on... you are not making Crackle Paint!!! You using the Crackle Technique using different mediums!!! A Crackle Paint by definition would be a 1 step process... Paint on product and it should do its thing... You are not doing this! I hate when people make shit up! Like its true... get real!!!

Hi, that was vintage photo distress ink by Tim Holtz. I used a blotter to apply the ink around the edges of the spoon. tfw
I only bought one kind of crackle medium before and it was so thick, very hard to spread and only had little cracks. I like this better! Can't wait to see what you came up with :) Hugs~Jamie

Way cool. Can't wait to try this. Thank you!
Thanks for the tips... Can you write letters over crackle? If so what would I use?
I haven't tried writing over it. I can imagine writing in paint may work. I would test a scrap piece before doing your project. tfw
what was that you put around make it brown?
simply amazing thx I ran out of crackle paint
Liked your little 'dabs of humor. Gave me a chuckle.
Thanks, glad you liked the tutorial! Give it a try :)

I love how that turned out, very pretty, thanks for the tutorial :) Brenda
Can you speed up the drying process by using a hairdryer ?
@Susan Gallon The applicator I'm using for inking is called a sponge dobber.
What did you use to hold the stamp?
It's called an acrylic stamp block. :)
Thank you for this tutorial!! Can't wait to try it
What kind of glue are you using? Try regular Elmer's glue. I used the craft bond gel glue from Elmer's. Thanks for watching, I hope it works out for you :)
What is the glue that you've using in the video...I have tried p v a wood glue without any success, can you help ?

Welcome to my channel! Glad you liked the tutorial and thanks for stopping by! tfw
Do you know if there is anyway to control the size of the cracks? Like if i wanted them finer and more close together? Thanks!
ClassicCountryBoy1 I believe if you coat a thicker layer of glue it gives you larger cracks and thinner glue gives you smaller cracks. tfw
Brilliant video 🕯☕️
tons of creativity you have. amazing :-)
AWESOME toot!! Thanks fast and easy!!
The crackle effect can be sped up by using a hairdryer on high.
i used pva a white glue as id seen some1 using it and it worked xxx
Thanks Jen!! Try it on a card that would look cool I bet. Hugs~Jamie
Thank you Nettie, give it a try! tfw

Hi, you can use this technique on paper, I haven't tried it on canvas thou. I'm glad you like the tutorial. Good luck :) Jamie
one more question i tried it my 1st try was goood bt 2nd try got bad .. can we redo crackle effect on top of it again ? pls suggest
I never tried crackle on top of crackle. You might want to try it on a piece of scrap before trying it on your project. Good luck :)
thanxxxxx. i got crackle effect but not as i wanted it to look so can u suggest me sumthing what can i do on it to look goood as in vintage style table

Can you use a gluestick? Or wood glue?
I don't believe it will but it won't hurt to try a glue out in a sample spot before you do your project :)
OK! Thanks for the advise!!
Can you paint it a color that will show up in the cracks?
Yes you can. Let your first coat of pain dry first, then add your glue coat, and finally your top final color
BEAUTIFUL ❣️🌱🍀🍃🥀
Can you use normal White glue?
I would test out your glue and paint on a scrap piece to see if you like the results.
OMG.. that is soo simple.. thank you so much for sharing that idea.. cant wait to crackle everything now.. lol..
Bernadette
Thanks Leslie!! tfw Jamie
Elmers glue, well any pvc glue also works.
Yup, the no name stuff in a large container works the same.
Can u do this method on a kendama
Kaleb kendamas sells crackle kendamas on their website

Wow. Looks easy. Thanks Jaime! :-)
That is so interesting. I have to try that soon. :)
Add a thick layer of glue and the cheap stuff works best!
Ya you do get big cracks! tfw Jamie
A popular method to create a crackle effect but not actually creating "crackle paint" as such, simple to follow though.
