      I think she's from the most powerful Mongolian tribe of that time. She can even ride horses and has great archery skills (shown in a different episode). Maybe even some fighting skills. She absolutely shouldn't take any bullshit from anyone. And that's exactly what she does all the time. I always liked watching scenes with her (and her sister) in them. They both give off that "we're chill people, but you're dead if you ever mess with us" vibe which is such a breath of fresh air.

    This scene really emphasizes the fact that a title alone means little without the backing of a n noble family lineage. Touching her means risking major retaliation against the Qing dynasty

    "PUT ME DOWN YOU LAME SERVANTS!" followed by Mama Bear Consort Ying whose ONLY thought is for her child. Whereas Imperial Consort Ling only thought about Jingyuan after she'd consolidated her power, fully turned the Emperor against Ruyi and then was poised to shove the country into war because she wanted to slap a Princess of Mongolia? Even Ling's head maid (her closest friend one could argue) was shaking her head frantically, fully aware of the implications. She's a servant, and she's more politically savvy than her master.

    13:31 I want you all to know she could have visited her child many times and continue her bond but never did because she was obsessed with obtaining power and getting rid of Ruyi. And now that she feels somewhat settled she wants the daughter. Children gave privileges in the Palace this solidifying your position in the harem. Don't think for a second she was doing it out of the goodness of a mother's heart. She had other intentions. If you feel sorry for her then don't judge the emperor. You just got manipulated by her just the same way as he did.
    17:20 I am glad Consort Ying spoke to the princess. The princess was so manipulated and blind to the whole trick.

      All from stealing the "conception" medicine to have some herself because it was granted to consort Shu by the emperor himself to sneaking out while pretending to be sick to screw the emperor during bathtime.
      That made the harem turn against her and the emperor whilst not having that great of a character, was able to see it through.

    • @vivanyatodd5036
      @vivanyatodd5036 4 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Consort Ling wasn't qualified to raise her because when the princess was born, she was not an imperial noble consort yet. So as someone with low status, she wasn't fit to raise a royal bloodline (I think it might be more about education and etiquette thing. As a lowly lady, she couldn't properly teach her children royal manner). However, there's nobody who forbid her from visiting her daughter in consort Ying's palace. That she never meet her daughter for all those years was purely her choice.

    • @PungiFungi
      @PungiFungi 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Consort Ling didn’t started out that way. Being abused by Consort Jia and other staffs of the palace turned her into a scheming vengeful monster , like what happened with Arou.

    • @Blackthorne369
      @Blackthorne369 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I disagree. A’rou was just greedy and so was Ling. Ling may have been treated more cruelly than others but that was the chance a servant took in the Forbidden Palace. Also, she had opportunities to leave and marry Ling Yunche, her childhood sweetheart, who was swiftly rising in the ranks himself, or to just live her own life. Both she and A’rou saw chances to rise with foul actions. Consort Xian treated all of her servants very well, at least in this drama. A’rou was an arrogant servant and an arrogant concubine only promoted so the emperor could get evidence to free Ruyu from the Cold Palace. Ling’s hatred towards Ruyu, by then the empress, was utterly illogical. Ling stole a private prescription to help her get pregnant that turned out to be a contraceptive. I believe she had her maids sneak while an assistant was making it for Concubine Shu, not certain. What I am certain of is that the empress, Ruyi, quietly suggested to both the original woman drinking it, “Stop drinking this so much.” Ruyi couldn’t come right out and say because it was the emperor himself providing the prescription! Ling jumped ahead, took nearly four bowls of the contraceptive at the same time, and only then did she mention she was drinking the same medicine as the other concubine to Empress Ruyi. She hurt herself and blamed Ruyi for warming her about a fact only Ling and her maids knew. I know I am much too deep into this but even in drama’s, I prefer a logical reason for one’s actions. Like Consort Jia- so was vicious to her core but she was trying to put one of her son’s on the royal throne, no matter who she had to hurt. Her actions were terrible but each one was well thought out, from being nice to Empress Xioxian(sp?), to Consort Shu, to having her father send gifts to the right people, and never pushing the emperor too much but making sure she was favoured and pregnant as often as possible. She further proves her intelligence by checking everything thing sent to her palace, from food, to incense, to medicines. Jia was already prideful; she became cocky, panicked, and mistepped but I think she would not have had the trouble with disrespect had she been placed in charge of the harem, if only because of the fear of her, though that probably would never have happened because she came from a Korean background (I am almost sure, please give correction if I am not). She was arrogant, absolutely, and greedy but she had the intelligence, the family background, and political savvy that Ling never will. In the palace, no matter poorly you are treated, you must have power and connections, money, or intelligence and cunning. If you don’t, try to escape or keep your mouth shut and ride it out to the end.

      @Hikari9312 4 ปีที่แล้ว +43

      Even though Consort Ying is a concubine, her marriage to the Emperor acts as an alliance between the Emperor's kingdom and Mongolia (her tribe). The Emperor's younger sister did marry into a Mongolian tribe, so did his eldest daughter (with the first Empress). Some Mongolian tribes are loyal to the Emperor, others are rebellious. The Emperor's younger sister had to re-marry to the man that killed her first husband, in order to keep the peace between her married tribe and the kingdom.
      From what I understand, Wei Yanwan is technically a higher-ranking concubine since she is managing the harem, and wants to show off to Consort Ying that she has more power than her. Hence, trying to get her daughter back with abusing her power. But if Wei Yanwan dares to lay a hand on Consort Ying, it just means she is declaring war on the Mongolian tribe. Consort Ying has a different type of power. She is the only daughter but her father is terribly fond of her. So of course, she may not have the same authority as Wei Yanwan, but she has a very powerful backup (her father). Hope this makes sense! ^^

      Qianlong named her empress xiaoyi and jiaqing added the chun character. This probably shows that yanwan was a good person irl since he gave her posthumous titles. However with her being evil here it makes it more interesting

    • @michelleobama4844
      @michelleobama4844 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@urmummysaurus4229 that is not true. " Chun" was Emperor Qianlong's main posthumous title amongst dozens of others. Its customary for the empress to bear this character in her posthumous title. Wei was buried as Imperial Noble Consort before Qianlong's death, and her son the Jiaqing Emperor promoted her to Empress rank based on blood lineage and put the "chun" in her posthumous title after he took the throne. Empress Xiaoyi's main posthumous title is actually Yi, since the Xiao (filial) character is also customary for empresses to bear firstly since confucian values deemed filial piety to be paramount of being a virtuous person.

      cuz yellow=gold, it's a noble color which can only be wore by empress, imperial noble consort, empress dowager and emperor.
      she always wears yellow in order to show off her position n yell at everyone "I'm the imperial noble consort now !"

    • @christinasuhadi

      Yellow is the sign of central empire, central palace... That's from yellow emperor, so only emperor, empress, empress dowager and high rank consort/concubine can wear such color... Basically, if empress still on charge, only empress can wear that beside emperor and empress dowager.. however, empress was deactivated, huang guifei was pointed to manage harem if empress can't... That means the central palace now at huang guifei

      The princess was sent to Consort Ying years ago when Imperial Noble Cosort (formerly Consort Ling) was demoted to Second class attendant (she tried sabotaging Ruyi’s pregnancy and framed her mother to get away with death penalty), so it was appropriate for Consort Ying to raise the child at the time despite I. N. C.’s later rapid promotions.

      2. What are the ranks?.
      3. what are those plates that the emperors have to play.
      4. can there be marriages between the half-siblings.
      5. what would put an heir to shame or be despised if it's parents had done something considered wrong?.
      6. If an emperor can have many children who would be considered an heir to the throne, the oldest?.
      7. how can concubines fight for a higher rank in the palace.
