I came across this in TikTok and it resonates so much of Hailan character progression. She was timid and easily bullied but in the end she became smarter, wiser, stronger, uncompromising and ruthless when the situation calls for it to protect the people she loves.
Hailan is extremely loyal to Ruyi, but she becomes cold to the rest of the world. She’s not afraid to play chess with others. Ruyi has a stronger heart. No matter how much she is hurt, she never punished innocent people.
that very well describes Ruyi to the end. Her way of extracting falsehood and lies is to bring them to the open. Whoever gets punished was not because of her scheming, but rather to bring out the truth. considering the never ending fight among the consort in the palace, she even accepted being placed in the cold palace until she has proven her innocence and she did it by really investigating everything that happened rather than just counter accusing.
But Ruyi also lacked that ability that Hailan had which left Ruyi vulnerable in the end and the people around her vulnerable. They weren’t living in todays world they were living in a world where everyone wanted them and their kids to die so they could replace them
@@lady2550 She didn't sit back quietly. She knew that she could only bring accusations successfully if she played within the rules that the Harem lives by. So essentially, if someone killed someone, she needs to understand why they did it and how they did it first before she can say anything. Unfortunately, finding out for many of the women often uncovered more deaths. If she had just opened her mouth the moment she had a suspicion, she would have either been removed altogether and unable to get justice or one of the women would have succeeded in killing her.
Honestly Hailan had the ability to do the dirty deeds Ruyi didnt but also had the fierce loyalty. She was incredibly good to Ruyi, unlike the first empress who used and disposed of people once they were of no use to her anymore. Obviously harming a child is bad but in that world it was the only way to fight back

It’s not like a dirty trick, but more of a slow starting point of what Ruyi said. To stand on her own two feet, and hence, by the end of the show, she stood on her own two feet. But fell from grace from a loss of losing her only son and sister in the process at the end of the show. Yet, if you think about it, the only way to stand on her own two feet from afterwards, is to make sure that she had trust servants that can listen in on conversations and know what to ask, even if it means death to other maids or eunuchs.
In this clip, Ruyi did a good favor to Hailan by not depending on her but for Hailan to find her own strength and do herself a favor of not cowering or allowing others to bully her.
That’s why I love it this scene, when Hailan officially stand on her own two feet from being bullied, and will bully in revenge of those who dare try to cross her afterwards. But also made a point that it’s best to not harm those, who only wanted the throne. Probably why she lives to be in her 60’s or so, cause of the will to live as Ruyi told her. Also, made sure that some of the girls don’t try to play games with her and Ruyi. Hence the reason why 75% of the Harem ladies, all sided with Ruyi, cause of love for them. Even Hailan.

The empress was right she was responsible for her son dying, but not the way she thought. Had she ignored Ruyi and Hailan, she would not have eaten her own bitter fruit and her son might have lived longer.

It saddens me that Hailan needs to become tougher because of this incident and she needs to harden herself in order to protect herself, her son and Ruyi. She is a sweet and lovable girl but what can you do if you are thrown into this kind of world full of schemes and treachery? Out of all the woman she was not the one u want to mess with haha. If she was against Ruyi the other side would have so won. She knew how to plot and when to look weak and on top of that she was the last one standing every1 else died and she was sitting tall. I mean she lost a lot along the way but it just shows she was the top wife in the end.

Hailan was one of my favorite characters but killing that child almost ruined her for me. You can't dislike the Empress for being a monster if you turn into one yourself. Ruyi is the only one who really stayed true to herself and the one the Emperor married who was in love with the man who died. But the Emperor was the worst if he had trusted Ruyi more they would have been an unstoppable team!!
The egoistic emperor should have learned from Ruyi's wisdom, but he could not accept that a woman has that kind of knowledge over him. Anywhere in the world, even now, this happens.
To her, the Empress killed her son. He was seriously ill, yet was still forced to study for longs hours each day whenever he wasn't resting. His condition kept getting worse; it was only a matter of time before he died because the Empress disregarded his health. It'd be one thing if Hailan aided in his death to stop his suffering, but that wasn't her intention, and that's what draws the line.

Since he had respiratory issues, the reeds caused complications for him during his sleep.

I’ve watched this show so many times and I don’t remember anything about pollen or reeds. I hope she didn’t do it. These historical dramas are so sad in how many people became merciless to protect themselves and others they loved. I just hate when they kill people. It’s so unnecessary. Ruyi is my fave because she never actually hurts anyone and stays true to herself. I still love Hailan, but she went almost all the way left.
In the novel, she, Consort Chun and Lianxin did it. Hailan sewed a blanket stuffed with reeds and cotton. After that Lianxin used the blanket on yonglian.
Hailan killing the empress' son is why she got her karma when yongqi died. She never had to touch yonglian that kid was gonna die eventually anyway if one reed is gonna give him anaphylaxis and death

@@elosiantohina8271 Alright, let me explain (Briefly): There are 3 types of Karma according to Buddhism, they are: 1. Karma (Action) from previous, 2. Karma (Actions) because of someone else, and 3. Karma by carelessness (not being careful). Ruyi is good, truly good and there were times where she was smart with her actions. But what she forgot was just because she was queen does not mean she is secure (the same struggle the first queen had). She did not want to be queen true, but when you are pushed to circumstances you really need to be at your game ( I mean not Necessarily to kill people). Hailan knew that well, specially when Sir Ling's issue came up with Ruyi's falsely accused affair. Hailan and even Ling knew that he needed to die, but Ruyi did not want to kill him to justify her self. Ruyi's argument is right, but emotionally. Hailan knew the palace games by then, specially when she had to defend herself when Ruyi was locked up in cold palace. She wasn't afraid to play the Game of Throne that's why she told Ruyi once that even Yong Qi may change and go against them as well. Ruyi is a very sensitive sort of a person. Her emotional decisions got her to Big Trouble. You are your own making they say, and that is why she cut her hair at the end. She was tired and disgusted by everything. As for her children, Yanwan killed both Ruyi's young children (daughter and second son) for that Vipaka (Reaction) affected her by killing her 2 sons through sickness. "Every Karma (Action) has a Vipaka (Reaction): This is Lord Buddha 's teaching." Also, separation of Ruyi from her first son lead to Yanwan's all children being taken away at the end. Karma affects people when they are at their most weakest. This is the way how law of nature works.
i can understand that people idolize hailan with her rise in confidence after so much suffering but frankly she has a dark side that makes me really uncomfortable: -his love for ruyi is excessive -his love for the emperor is hypocritical -his relations with the other concubines depend entirely on their relation with ruyi yonglian was also the emperor's son a man she is supposed to love minimally and she hastened his death as if nothing had happened she is no better than the empress, spoiler later she will even try to convince ruyi to kill the other son of the empress the 7th prince yongcong, what kind of person wants to make his best friend a murderer? it seems that for her children are either tools or targets of revenge generally I like pragmatic people but with her it goes too far she was not particularly happy when she learned of her pregnancy she asked ruyi to adopt yongqi supposedly because she could not protect him no longer being favored by the emperor but it was mainly to consolidate ruyi's position within the harem since she had no children, she offered her child as a birthday present! the incident she started with consort chun and the 1st prince using her son had dramatic consequences not only in the moment but also in the long term! the affair with ling yunche yet another thing, ruyi's reputation was already tarnished so killing him actually only served to give ruyi the image of an empress who had her lover killed to save what was remained of dignity. she was smart enough to foment a plan more elaborate than that but her concerns were not the right ones she wanted all the noise around ruyi to stop but it would have been necessary to set up a plan to prove to the emperor especially that this affair did not was just an invention. ling yunche dead the emperor still had doubts!

@@PaolaMartinez-fx5mf I haven't watched the series in a while, but I believe Hailan was responsible for reeds or pollen getting into the Prince's bed chambers - through the doll she sewed for the other prince (it had reeds for stuffing). Since he had respiratory issues, the reeds caused complications for him during his sleep.

I’ve watched this show so many times and I don’t remember anything about pollen or reeds. I hope she didn’t do it. These historical dramas are so sad in how many people became merciless to protect themselves and others they loved. I just hate when they kill people. It’s so unnecessary. Ruyi is my fave because she never actually hurts anyone and stays true to herself. I still love Hailan, but she went almost all the way left.
In the novel, she, Consort Chun and Lianxin did it. Hailan sewed a blanket stuffed with reeds and cotton. After that Lianxin used the blanket on yonglian.

@@elosiantohina8271 Alright, let me explain (Briefly): There are 3 types of Karma according to Buddhism, they are: 1. Karma (Action) from previous, 2. Karma (Actions) because of someone else, and 3. Karma by carelessness (not being careful).
Ruyi is good, truly good and there were times where she was smart with her actions. But what she forgot was just because she was queen does not mean she is secure (the same struggle the first queen had). She did not want to be queen true, but when you are pushed to circumstances you really need to be at your game ( I mean not Necessarily to kill people). Hailan knew that well, specially when Sir Ling's issue came up with Ruyi's falsely accused affair. Hailan and even Ling knew that he needed to die, but Ruyi did not want to kill him to justify her self. Ruyi's argument is right, but emotionally. Hailan knew the palace games by then, specially when she had to defend herself when Ruyi was locked up in cold palace. She wasn't afraid to play the Game of Throne that's why she told Ruyi once that even Yong Qi may change and go against them as well. Ruyi is a very sensitive sort of a person. Her emotional decisions got her to Big Trouble. You are your own making they say, and that is why she cut her hair at the end. She was tired and disgusted by everything.
As for her children, Yanwan killed both Ruyi's young children (daughter and second son) for that Vipaka (Reaction) affected her by killing her 2 sons through sickness. "Every Karma (Action) has a Vipaka (Reaction): This is Lord Buddha 's teaching." Also, separation of Ruyi from her first son lead to Yanwan's all children being taken away at the end. Karma affects people when they are at their most weakest. This is the way how law of nature works.

i can understand that people idolize hailan with her rise in confidence after so much suffering but frankly she has a dark side that makes me really uncomfortable: -his love for ruyi is excessive -his love for the emperor is hypocritical -his relations with the other concubines depend entirely on their relation with ruyi yonglian was also the emperor's son a man she is supposed to love minimally and she hastened his death as if nothing had happened she is no better than the empress, spoiler later she will even try to convince ruyi to kill the other son of the empress the 7th prince yongcong, what kind of person wants to make his best friend a murderer? it seems that for her children are either tools or targets of revenge generally I like pragmatic people but with her it goes too far she was not particularly happy when she learned of her pregnancy she asked ruyi to adopt yongqi supposedly because she could not protect him no longer being favored by the emperor but it was mainly to consolidate ruyi's position within the harem since she had no children, she offered her child as a birthday present! the incident she started with consort chun and the 1st prince using her son had dramatic consequences not only in the moment but also in the long term! the affair with ling yunche yet another thing, ruyi's reputation was already tarnished so killing him actually only served to give ruyi the image of an empress who had her lover killed to save what was remained of dignity. she was smart enough to foment a plan more elaborate than that but her concerns were not the right ones she wanted all the noise around ruyi to stop but it would have been necessary to set up a plan to prove to the emperor especially that this affair did not was just an invention. ling yunche dead the emperor still had doubts!
