Yanwan using this opportunity to fully enjoy the Schadenfreude that comes with watching your tormentor get theirs is the icing on the cake for this scene for me. I mean, the GLEE with which she smiles at 12:18 is just great.
Jia got what she deserved. Always bullying other and the Empress just because her schemes backfired. What she had done to Suosin was despicable. She assumed she would lie rather than endure more torchuring and it backfired and cost her maid instead.

Jia instructed the punishment people to use torcher on her and used a vice that broke her leg then they intentionally let her clothing get dried and stuck to her injury causing it to be worse when it had to be removed. They thought they could force her to lie and it backfired.

There will always be something I will never understand about Jia. She is undeniably good at scheming and knows her way around and she was very good at staying low and being two faced at Empress Xiaoxian's time, but how come she couldn't show or pretend to do the same for Ruyi? I get that she hated her but she should've known better to at least pretend to be stable to at least last longer but then again she's just bitterly bitter because she lost her son, her maid and the future of their clan.
I think its because she didn't see Ruyi as a threat. She clearly underestimated her. Huge mistake
I think that Jia was too proud to ever admit she was in over her head sometimes. When she gets cornered, Jia runs her mouth off and ends up in more trouble than had she stayed quiet. Ruyi also didn't play the ruthless harem games unlike Xiaoxian, so the techniques that worked with Xiaoxian didn't work with Ruyi

Consort Jia is definitely intelligent and could easily win over Ruyi but it will be against historical accuracy(ruyi has to become empress because it is in the History) then they find an excuse to make her do stupid things.
@@lakaperse6995 , that is why I do not like historical fiction. If they allow the storyline and character go organically, there is no way the Emperor would not trust Ruyi...but they have to give a reason on why the historical Ruyi cut her hair and renounced being Empress. The outcome had been pre-determined....so as a result the series ended up being plot driven instead of character driven.
The thing that Jia didn't understand is, SHE WILL NEVER BE AN EMPRESS OR HER SONS WILL NOT BE CROWNED PRINCE. NEVER

She was too selfish, self-centered, and self-entitled. She even used her own sons as collateral damage. Her sons ended up paying for her grave sins.

Before, Concubine Jia used carnelian bracelets to frame Ruyi, so Ruyi also used carnelian earrings to make Concubine Jia suffer.
Noble consort Jia framed Ruyi(the empress) of having an affair with the grand master and one of the evidence she used to lie on Ruyi was a seven treasure bead which had red agate in it. Ruyi is basically punishing her by making her wear carnelian which resemble red agate but not nearly as valuable as it. So basically Ruyi sending signals to jia that she should behave herself and not stir up drama by humiliating her in front of everybody. I hope that helps! It’s a really good series!

I'm rooting for Jia, Chun, ALL OF THEM! Not fair in the slightest that they were imprisoned in the harem after being traded for political standing.
So it's ok to murder innocent children and babies??? Their clans put them there for one reason and they fully knew it. They were to take over so their clans could become more powerful. No I cheer ever time they are busted and then locked up or sent to the cold palace or put to death. Jia got to big for her britches and personally I think she should of had an more harsher punishment.
All of them are imprisoned in the forbidden city yet other than that single fact alone, even if you are stuck or not you know moral decency and to know how to distinguish right or wrong. And in the case of Jia, she is just one bitter calculating woman. Ruyi on the other half is the most unfortunate ever since the beginning

Survival (your own and your family) in the royal court heavily depended on winning favor from more powerful families, whose whimsical demands/desires could make or break you. And that sometimes meant doing underhanded things whether to advance/protect yourself or to knock down rivals. At the end of the day, all the consorts and concubines were trying to survive at any cost
