Been a fan of yours for a while now. Love your comment about FS2020. I have 600 hours on XP11, and pre ordered FS2020. I have been trying to figure out how I feel about FS2020, and your words nailed it... "Like a beautiful woman that's mean to you." Spot on. Thanks again for the great content and ideas.
Russ, thanks for all the great ideas! I actually bought the 15.6 Prechen monitors and knobster as shown in your previous videos, along with one of the Stay Level Avionix panels to house Honeycomb Yoke and Throttle quadrant. I absolutely love it! Thanks to you and John; I have an awesome home sim. Keep the videos coming! CW4 Dan Davis, US Army
Thanks so much Russ for sharing your knowledge and information on TH-cam...very helpful. I watched this video on Monday and using your information I ordered this Wimaxit monitor direct from China. I placed my order at 21:43 on Monday March 15th, and received it today delivered to my door at 16:13 on Friday March 19! I would never have guessed it would be so fast. I live in Vancouver, Canada. I saved just $100CAD over buying off Amazon. I will order the mount from StayLevel next, and then wait for the Knobster to come available again. I will order the Knobster along with Air Manager. Thanks again Russ!
Hi Russ, Since I found your channel I’ve been binge watching most of your videos and am very impressed with your level of professionalism and knowledge of flight sims. I am fairly new to flights sims and am beginning to build my cockpit. After watching your videos on the touchscreen setup, I am hooked and am eagerly looking forward to completing this setup. I managed to get hold of a Honeycomb yoke but like so many others am still waiting for the throttle quadrant, Also stoked to see they are designing rudder pedals. Keep those videos coming.
You're such a wonderful resource and your wealth of RW knowledge is so impressive and helpful to sim enthusiasts. In addition, you kindly take the time and trouble to give detailed setup explanation and instruction for adding the 'next level' hardware beyond basic control surfaces. Thank you sir, for your help and guidance. Your remark about the pretty girl who is mean to you brought a huge smile, my feelings exactly about 2020. I can't fly anything else, because the visuals are so incredibly stunning. Purchased KLAS airport & scenery for 2020 and Bob's my uncle! Frames could be better, but with so much complexity at ultra settings, can I complain? Nope. Wish the flight dynamics were like P3D though. And wish for VNAV. and a few other things you no doubt could enumerate here... 'what you don't like' video sounds intriguing, might get Asobo on the road to providing those niggles you wish they'd fix... Cheers.
Russ, great videos, thanks. Just a couple of questions. I got the mounting from John, he was a lot of help and easy to work with. But, my monitor did not come wit any kind of instructions, it’s not hard to hook up a monitor but how/what cables did you use, and I didn’t see any cables come out of your monitor did you hide them and how. Thanks fir your time.
I enjoyed this video and I'm sure the new monitor mount is a good one. However, on your recommendation, I had already purchased a touch screen and knobster. I bought a $20 generic monitor stand on Amazon. It has rubber feet which fit perfectly on top of my Honeycomb yoke. The big advantage that I see to it over the $99 mount (besides the price) is that I can raise or lower the screen and tilt it to any angle. And I have my knobster mounted to my Honeycomb desk mounting bracket using zip ties! The poor man's version. I really enjoy your channel.
Could you tell me what the make and model is and maybe send me a picture of how it is installed? I am at barlow320 and my domain is Gmail which is a com.
Great work! I finally have my three screen setup with a 15.6 for gauges which I cannot get the touch features to work. Knobster is unobtanium right now so I have to wait. When I upgrade from my CH yoke to a honeycomb yoke I will get the stay level bracket. Thanks for all you do!
Be sure to calibrate your monitors for touch. Windows automatically assumes that the touch screen is your main monitor. Go to settings and type in calibrate and you will see “calibrate pen and touch”.It will open a dialogue click the set up button end it will turn each screen one at a time white with some text and tell you to touch each screen. That way it will know how to associate touches with the correct display. That is likely your problem.
@@rbarlow I went down that road already a few times both making the tablet the main monitor and not. No dice. I know the touch feature works as I tried it connected to a laptop so I think it is a Windows 10 issue. The panel is a Virzen model. Reading the Amazon ad when I bought it said touch for MAC products only but a lot of the customer reviews got it to work with Win 10 doing what you described above. I'll keep plugging away, lol.
SUCCESS!! I decided to try again one more time and it let me calibrate it. Now I am in xplane on the runway just making knobs rotate like a monkey, lol. Thanks again!!!
@@davidpippin3460 did you ever fix this problem? I just recently got back into my sim and my Pretchen touch monitor won't recognize touch. I've done all the necessary steps and still no dice. It used to work and now it doesn't.
Thank you Russ! I really have learned a lot from your videos. I've purchased the Honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant(wich is still backorder)and I'm wanting to duplicate what you have created. What a great idea to pass on to staylevelavionics. I will purchase one the mounts and possibly one for the throttle quadrant to duplicate what you created with your dual touchscreen sim panel. Thank you for gifts to the flightsim community! And thank you for your service.
Awesome panel! Just a modification idea for Stay Level, if I may since its a prototype. What about changing the 75mm VESA screw holes to slots that run vertical? My monitor has the VESA mounts closer to the bottom edge of the monitor. The slots would open up the monitor choices and allow those that already have a monitor not have to buy a new one if they have something similar to the one I have. Friction fit would be enough to keep a centered VESA hole alignment from sliding down. Or add rubber a pad between the monitor and mount. I came up with something similar to your double screen mount (perfect for the yoke and throttle combo) but went with a standard dual screen mount that puts the screens below and in front of my widescreen and off the desk.
Hey Stuart - Shoot us an email and we can consider getting a vertical (taller) version of the bracket. With our structural design, we should have enough rigidity to cover the length (arm) of added height. Thanks for the comments and feedback, always beneficial to keep evolving. Stay Level 🤙
@@StayLevelAvionix Thanks for having mine shipped very fast, the two brackets arrived in Holland few days ago. Perhaps one suggestion for the positioning of the holes is that they could be a tiny bit (2 cm) lower which leaves ample space below.. This way it will not obstruct the view on the monitor that much. I'm now looking to put my monitor (Samsung Odyssee G9) on an elevated platform, however it is a balance between optimal height for FS and for other business.
Love your videos and would love to add this monitor & bracket to my sim. What computer do you use for the Air Manager that you link to the monitor so that the touchscreen will work.
I will pass that along to John. I thought about several sets of holes but there are many out there. The other issue is Knobster clearance on monitors with wide bezels.
Thanks for the video! Great work. To use any instrument that requires the knobster, all you do is touch that instrument and then use the knob, correct?
Yes but it works only with Air Manager panels and you need to enable the Knobster in the panel settings. You can touch the knob to select it or if it is not a touch screen you can select with a mouse click too.
They have built panels like that and they will modify to fit your monitors If you send one to them. I don’t think the offer a completed turnkey system but they are very flexible and willing to please
Is there much value is going to a touch-screen any larger than the 15.6”? I like the idea of some additional real estate there, For example, Mike at X-Force PC sells a 22” touch-screen in his sim packages. I think this can leave room for a six-pack and radios as well. Any thoughts here on the 15.6” vs the bigger touch-screen?
Watch some of my previous videos. I have used a 23 inch monitors on most of my earlier Sims and I think they are great but they are large enough that they often make the cut off angle too high when placed on top of the yoke and too far away to easily reach when placed behind the yoke. If it is a 1920x1080 monitor the resolution the instruments will appear larger but unless you reduce the resolution (scale down)you can’t get more instruments on the panel. You could do that in the smaller monitor too but the instruments may look tiny. If you use the larger monitor it is fine but you might consider a way to mount it so the front edge hangs over the front edge of the yoke and is lowered to just clear above the yoke shaft. That can lower the monitor just enough to see over it at a good angle to view the scenery.
Hi Russ. Great video. You and John came up with a great bracket idea for the Honeycomb products. Question. If I have Honeycomb Yoke and Throttle unit, and purchased two of John's brackets from Stay Level, and purchased two Wimaxit 15.6 inch touch portable monitors, can one knobster handle inputs of either monitor, say if one monitor had the six pack adjusting for altimeter, DG, VOR and the second monitor had avionics to dial in frequencies? Also, not a why would you question but rather could you question, but if you purchased two knobsters one for each bracket monitor combo, will that work without one knobster interfering with the other knobster? It shouldn't right, if each knobster is plugged into their own USB port? Thanks in advanced for the answers with your expertise on your knobster product.
Russ, I ordered the monitor and the bracket. Do you know if the knobster will work with FS2020 without air manager? I was thinking of displaying the G1000 on the touchscreen. So if I touch the altitude selector and then spin the knobster, will my altitude setting change? Or do I need air manager to do that?
Hi Russ. Would you consider doing a video on how you built out the frames of your sim cockpits? You seem to do things in a well thought out and fairly scholarly manner and I’m just curious how you went about laying everything out and constructing the final product. Thanks. P.S. Have you by chance done any narration work for movies in the past because you sound exactly like the narrator in some extreme snow skiing videos from the 80’s! Lol 👍
I have the Wimaxit Touch Screen Monitor. But my laptop only has 2 Display Output Ports, which are (1)HDMI 2.0a and (2) miniDP 1.4 But when I connect the monitor via the HDMI 2.0a for video (I use the miniDP 1.4 for connection to my 27 in monitor) and and the USB C to USB A cable to my HUB for power - I have an issue. I receive the video on the Wimaxit, but I have No Touch Control. What do I need to do - to be able to receive a video signal that I can use the touch screen with. I have connected the USB C to USB A cable to both the "Type-C and the POWER ports on the Wimaxit and nothing I try works. I do know that the Touch Screen feature works because if I hook it up directly to my USB C phone it works Great. Just can't get it to work with my laptop. And my laptop is pretty high end so any help would be much appreciated.
Your monitor needs a USB connection to carry the touch signals to your computer. You should have two USB style connectors on the side of your monitor one marked power and the second marked USB-C. You need to connect the one marked power to the included power adapter that came with your monitor to provide power. You cannot get power and signal through the same port That should solve your problem but you may need to calibrate the touch system if you have more than one touch monitor or if the monitor is not your main monitor. Windows assumes that the main monitor is the monitor associated with the touch grid. Just go to the settings and search for calibrate. You should see a choice to calibrate pen and touch. Follow the on screen instructions.
@@rbarlow I have the USB-C to USB-A cable plugged into the "POWER" port on the Wimaxit and the supplied power adapter for power. I don't have any USB-C ports on the Laptop that supply a Display Output Signal. My only Display Output ports on the Laptop are a Mini-DisplayPort which is connected to my main monitor a 27in. And a HDMI Output which is what I have connected to the Wimaxit Touch Screen. And I couldn't find anything in the Display Settings for the calibration of the monitor. Does it require a USB-C Display Output from the laptop to provide the touch function? If so do they make a "MiniDP to USB-C" or "HDMI to USB-C" Adapter.
@@rbarlow Hi Russ I think I might have gotten it figured out. I finnally found the settings to calibrate the monitors. Thanks for all your help. Your videos are an inspiration for all of us who love flight sims. One other question under the display settings do have the "Use HDR" setting turned "On" or "Off"? And is it setup correctly to require a double tap to use the touch functions such as on the G3000 or can it be setup to use a single tap?
This is a great addition and a great setup, mr. Barlow. It is probably the best way to get started with a separate internal cockpit view without spending too much on hardware. I have used Simionic G1000 with X-plane since 2014 and with the knobster and a solid base it gives you almost everything you need. Recently I made my own G1000 units and now have a full panel. Thank you for your contribution to the flight sim community. Subscribed. What are your computer specs if I may ask? Eivind
@@youngfella3054 @Young Fella Hi. No, sorry for the confusion. I have not used it with a knobster. I don't even know if it's possible. It didn't exist when I was using Simionic. What I meant was that having a similar extra screen solution showing the instruments, now in combination with the knobster, is a great alternative to building an expensive panel.
That works as long as it’s fun and meets your needs. Best part about hobbies is that you only have to go as deep as you like. Thanks for commenting!

Hello Russ. I've got one similar touchscreen, but whenever I touch it the main program loses focus (Not FS2020, but other simulator) and the commands are not activated. I'm not sure if there is a previous step nobody talks about in these videos about touchscreens, but it makes my setup basically unusable. Maybe FS2020 has options to control this and others don't? I don't really know. Thanks!
Awesome set up Russ - just wondering as I am in the UK and these items are primarily for use in North America so I will need to source compatible monitors here. What specifications should I look for?
colin wilson these 15.6” LCD thin flat monitors are fairly ubiquitous and come from China. I believe the Wimaxit should be available in the UK. They are mainly sold to be used as extended desktop monitors for notebook computers and the screen size is the most common size used in HD notebooks. Most are multi touch, ips monitors. If you need more help finding them feel free to contact me again.
@@coolcol06 I am located in The Netherlands and purchased the Wimaxit monitors shipped from Germany without issues. Well, perhaps the only issue for meis that they came with type F (UK) power adapters....
Howdy Russ! I sure love your videos, thanks for the great Channel! Sir, do i need to buy TWO copies of air manager if I want to run it on my laptop for xplane a bit and then switch to msfs on my big desktop? I wouldnt use them at the same time, just separately. Can I make one license work? Thanks for any info man
They require a license for each computer but you could use Air Player on one and send the panels from the one with Air Manager. Air Player retains the panel and launches them on startup if desired. Air player costs about half what Air Manager does.
@@rbarlow ahhh!!! Thank you sir. I did look through their faq section but in the back of my head I knew that you'd be the one that would have the answer! I'll see in the virtual skies friend
Thank you so much for all you do for flight simulation. Do you know if the Garmin perspective plus including the gfc 700 and the gcu stack can be added to the air manager and can the knobster also be used?
Hello, what a great design and makes it perfect to fix the screen and the knobster. I have the same equipment and would like the same panel but I live in France so impossible to get. Would it be possible to get the blueprint of this stand and I will try to get someone here in France to replicate the work. Would it be possible to share it you think?
The new design is not mine but from Stay Level Axionix. I couldn't share that but you could easily copy my original design which is explained in my previous video. It is simple to make and I explain it in my video th-cam.com/video/PWYEaQkNSTw/w-d-xo.html
Hi Etienne - Thanks for your interest, we do ship to France, just send us an email and we can get you set with an accurate International shipping cost. Stay Level!
Hi Russ ,Great channel ,Just started my sim MS2020 is it just me or are these thing harder to fly than a real plane ,got a saitek cessna yoke which i have removed the springs and detent from and fitted a bungee (much better now) but the sim seams very slow to react like you flying a large aircraft ever in a 152,also does the sim not adjust for air flow over the elevator in the flare when you would normally be puling the yoke out for more the in flight. i would love to here another pilot veiw .thanks john
Yes the flight model is a bit off and the Saitek Yoke isn’t helping either. It is way better than FSX but still just doesn’t feel right and I find it hard to trim. It seems to not react and then I over trim. Have you tried X-Plane? There is a free demo. See how the C172 compares and let me know if it feels more realistic. It doesn’t have the awesome scenery but for the flight model I think it is pretty close.
Hi Mr Russ or anybody that could answer my questions are welcome. I liked your videos and i am inspired because of you to continue building my flight simulator 's home cockpit I have a question for you. How can I get the G1000 MFD from air manager I know the PFD is available from the instruments of Air Manager but not the MFD I am looking for an cheap alternative for the G1000 vs The realsim gear or Simionic G1000 s and others I have been watching also a lot videos regarding this topic. I am considering to get the Knobster as soon is available to purchase. and also the possibility of getting one or two touchscreen monitors also. Thank you and have good day
Look like a nice screen and it is nice getting rid of cables always but it is pretty pricey and for a simulator the cables are not that big a deal once things are set up.
Hi Russ. Been using a Vissle 15.6” Touch + Knobster + AirManager with MSFS. Am getting device input conflicts resulting in everything from stutters to full black-out CTD’s. As I plunge into a deep-dive series of testing to try and find the root cause, I’m interested in learning if you-or anyone you know of-have ever experienced this behavior and, if so, what a solution might be.
Very inspiring video, thx! Do you have to connect the Wimaxit to the graphics card though? My graphics card has no connections left (I use 3x displayport for my worksspace and 1x hdmi for the tv.) I use the tv for flying.
Yes it is just a monitor with HDMI or it can use a USB-C for connection too. Not sure if the touchscreen is operational using a USB connection for video.
Damn you Russ! LOL. I just ordered Air manager, the Knobster, and the Prechen 15.6" monitor you recommended in previous videos. This new screen looks much nicer, as does the bracket from Stay level Avionics. Do you know if this bracket will also work with the Prechen screen, or should I return that and order the one in this video? Thanks
I've been using the Prechen touchscreen, Air Manager and the knobster for 6 months or so based on Russ' previous videos and it's worked perfectly. I found the way windows recognises a touch screen (for initial configuration) a bit odd but all good apart from that. I fly the Zibo mod 737-800 in xplane and the it's a really nice setup.
Sorry John. I devoted my Prechen to use along side my laptop as a second monitor....great for video editing. If you have time and a bit of skill you can go the DIY route as it works fine. The new setup is just a little more elegant that my DIY. OR sell the Prechen on ebay
@@rbarlow But the question is if we know that the Prechen monitor leaves room for the Knobster and fits on the Touch Plate. From your video, I'm guessing it does, but can you tell for sure from your experience? (I have the Prechen working, but I can't tell because John isn't shipping the first Touch Plates until Nov. 2.)
@@rbarlow No apology needed, I was just kidding you. I'll be able to return the Prechen I ordered through Amazon (I haven't even received it yet) So I'll reorder two of the Wimaxit ones, and two of the mounting plates from SLAVX. They give a nice discount when you buy two mounts. $159.00 vs $200.00
How do you get Air Manager into the monitor?? I have the Air Manager AP for my IPad. I don’t understand how you get it onto the monitor. Also how do you connect the monitor to your computer? Does your computer have to have USB C?
Does Air Manager work and play well with the Saitek instrument panels (radio, switch, multi)? Would there be reasons to only use Air Manager in place of the Saitek instruments, or would an Air Manager combined with these panels provide more realism? I am thinking about a basic Cessna 172 type of cockpit environment. Thoughts or experience with that type of configuration? Thanks so much for you videos and content.
will air manager get 2020 moving along soon you think. i have the prodcut that works with x-plane, does that version also work with 2020, cant find anything, or i looked and i dont think i saw instrumentation panels or stuff for 2020 yet. havent looked in the last month however
Look on the Sim Innovations Wiki. Under desktop there is a Beta link. The version 4.0 public beta can be downloaded there and is free until it is released. The username and password for the beta are in the instructions. It is beta so there may be bugs or incomplete features but it works with FS2020
You need to use the free Air Manager 4.0 public beta that is on the Sim Innovations main wiki page. The beta will be free until 4.0 is released. The username/ password to activate the beta is in the instructions. You need the beta plugin installer tor the sim too. It is beta and some features are not yet fully working due to an incomplete SDK from Microsoft.
You got air manager to work? despite having a less than a year old gaming computer air manager wouldn't connect or when it did connect it froze my computer. When I contacted air manager customer support for help they didn't like my attitude. I'm sorry but air manger is not cheap when I pay that much for software I expect that I won't have to spend hours troubleshooting it.
Hi Russ, I see there is a 2k screen resolution option available too.. Do you think the 1080p is crisp enough finding a balance between GPU usuage Id imagine also? Cheers
The 15.6" is small enough that I think full HD is fine. I think normal vision would not resolve a higher resolution on the small monitor at arms length distance. Infact the actual resolution of most nav displays are less than the 15.6" HD monitor
Hi. I just installed this screen yesterday. I have two problems. 1. On this screen WIMAXIT, the touch function only works if this screen is the main display in windows 10 multiple screen configuration. If not, the touch function is not detected by Windows. 2. I have also installed the Prechen screen. The touch function is working only on one of the two screens, not on both.
You need to calibrate your monitors so windows knows which touch grid is connected to which monitor. In windows settings search “calibrate” and it should find something like “calibrate pen and touch”. It will place a white screen on each monitor in order and ask you to touch it if it is a touch monitor, press enter if it is not. Just read the prompts. The default is that the main monitor is the touch monitor so that is why that works but not others
Is anyone having an issue with the beta that when they touch any knob on the touch screen it highlights, but as you rotate the camera in the cockpit moves instead
Donchichi I made a small panel in Air Manager using community free instruments for the gear handle/indicators and a few other instruments. The two displays (PFD.ND) were just the popped out displays from FS2020 and dragged to the small panel monitor,
@@rbarlow ok thanks for the info russ. One more thing, how did you able to hide the window borders of the pop out panels? And after making that panel will it automatically show everytime you use cj4? Or you will still pop it out everytime you use cj4?
Sure but it would be much larger than the actual G1000. If you put a software touch bezel on the monitor it is the right size. If you want to do a DIY G1000 you really need a 4:3 aspect 10.4” display. Check out this webpage which will lead you to a guy who has everything you need. www.thingiverse.com/thing:4019943 He has a great TH-cam channel too
For the life of me I can't get my pc to pick up the touchscreen on this wimaxit monitor. Windows 10 Nvidia 2070 super. Did you have any issues like that? Using supplied power chord and hdmi. Hard to contact any sort of customer service from them and had 2 monitors shipped
Be sure the usb is connected to the computer to send touch inputs. You also need the power connected from the adapter to the usb-c port on the monitor labeled power. I assume the monitor shows up in the display settings. You also need to calibrate the pen and touch to associate the touch grid with the correct monitor if it is not the main monitor, .
russ, met you 2 years at Orlando.....q: Is the a way to get the rel feel of a 6 pack and then trans. to glass instruments. Called G1000 they said no......I don't want to train on glass touch screen and wan the realism on the 6 pack. I you have no ideas I am going the real sim....any help?
You can easily learn a basic analog instrument scan using an Air Manager panel displaying a six pack. you will just have to teach your eyes to keep moving and focusing primarily on attitude and adjusting based on the values and trends on the other instruments. More of an art rather than a science. For example to make a level constant spped turn you need to set pitch and bank using attitude and adjusting pitch based on what vertical speed and altimeter read, heading to monitor for your lead to rollout on the target heading, and airspeed to adjust power to maintain target speed. Personally I like the spoke approach where you focus on attitude and glance at each of the surrounding instruments and back to attitude ten on to the next. The trick is to scan them all without fixating on one that might be off. It is easy to transition to glass ( more of a stare than a scan with everything on a single display)from analog than it is for a pilot who learned using glass to go to "steam gauges". Unless you plan to only fly glass I think learning on analog instruments is a good idea. One the skill is learned it can get rusty but it sticks with you for your flying career.
If you know the guys at Honeycomb, will you ask them WTH they were thinking using those dime-store potentiometers in a piece of kit that expensive!? No wonder they are having issues with jitter!
They are Hall effect sensors which are usually better than potentiometers? Mine seems fine. Actually the guys were designed by Precision Flight Controls that make FAA approved sim yokes. Sorry you’re having problems. I have no business relationship with Honeycomb and have only spoken casually at trade shows. Try contacting them if you have a warranty issue. I may just be lucky but mine has been outstanding for a year now.
@@rbarlow If they're using Hall effect sensors it's news to me Russ. They have pictures on their website (and plenty of people complaining about them). I have asked about this - but haven't had a reply and Amazon wouldn't even run a review when I pointed this very fact out. There's nothing wrong with good quality pots - commercial mixing desks have used them for decades - but the type shown in production photos are dime-store, panel mounted ones - and with fairly wiring too. Hall effect (or even optical encoding) are both solid state and more difficult to implement (this is my area of "hobby" expertise, so to speak). Some top-end units use Hall for this very reason - the price reflects the reliability and the extra difficulty. Pitch is more difficult than roll, but roll could easily have used a optical rotary encoder as found in mice from ... well as long as I can remember. Either way Russ, I'm not bitching at you, just trying to get through to Honeycomb who seem to be resting on all their good reviews and ignoring the pleas from users. They simply don't have the history in this business to back up their warranty or long-term claims of reliability and that troubles me. It's a beautiful looking piece of kit (and I pre-ordered the throttle quadrant the day it arrived) but that's been delayed. Anyway, please stay safe! I'm getting myself a knobster just as soon as I can get the Flight Manager to work with 2020! Thanks for all you do for us - and for free too!
These free downloadable instruments are found under the online tab in the application itself. A searchable catalog with thumbnails. Just click download to add to your local library of instruments to create panel layouts. There are also paid and free complete panels too.
Russ, Great meeting you at SimExpo Orlando. I have an issue with Air Manager that I know you know to solve. My G1000 panel doesn't completely fill the screen and unfortunately the windows desktop is showing around the right side of the panel (since it is transparent). Can you tell me how to block the desk top from showing on the right and still allow the transparent hole in the panel to show through? Keep up the great videos.
Bruce the less elegant and easy solution is to set your desktop to the background color you want and move any items from the e posed area. The more difficult but best way to fix it is to clone the bezel overlay and look in the resources folder for the image that is the bezel. Basically you are going to change the aspect ratio of the image canvas to add solid pixels of the desired color to the right edge of the image so it matches that of the monitor. Then change the instrument dimensions to match that new image. I know that is quick and dirty but if it doesn’t help let me know and I will help you further.
Right! Stay Level is charging only US$75 more than the cost of the aluminum Russ used. It's better, being made of inflexible steel, and I told John at Stay Level that the difference in price is worth every penny considering the extreme aggravation I'd have to endure if trying to fabricate the plate at home. It would have been so frustrating for a guy with no access to a machine shop that there would have been a lot of cussing. Again, worth every penny.

We like to operate very fast! Often known as “Fast John” - #innovateordie
Yes he’s a clever guy. It was actually more like two weeks!
Hi Russ,
Since I found your channel I’ve been binge watching most of your videos and am very impressed with your level of professionalism and knowledge of flight sims. I am fairly new to flights sims and am beginning to build my cockpit. After watching your videos on the touchscreen
setup, I am hooked and am eagerly looking forward to completing this setup.
I would like to know too what stand you bought.
Hi Jerry what monitor stand did you buy? can you give us the brand and model please
This is a great option...thinking about going this route. Thank you so much for sharing the info. 👍
Glad to help
I've seen this video multiple times and just realized that at 5:08, that monitor that Russ got is 15.6 FEET!! And it was only $219!?!? What a bargin!
Great Video! Thank you.
As usual an informative video. Thank you.
Nice. Thank you for posting your build info.
It was very helpful.
Thanks for watching
Love your videos and would love to add this monitor & bracket to my sim. What computer do you use for the Air Manager that you link to the monitor so that the touchscreen will work.
Can you do please a walk through of a set up for FS 2020 and a seperate one for X plane explaining how to set up the screen settings please? thank you
I agree - I have my knobster and AM but need a clear instruction video to tell me how to use them!
Great set-up, thanks for sharing
I will pass that along to John. I thought about several sets of holes but there are many out there. The other issue is Knobster clearance on monitors with wide bezels.
Thanks for the video! Great work. To use any instrument that requires the knobster, all you do is touch that instrument and then use the knob, correct?
Yes but it works only with Air Manager panels and you need to enable the Knobster in the panel settings. You can touch the knob to select it or if it is not a touch screen you can select with a mouse click too.
Would be cool if Stay Level or someone else could offer a complete PFD and MFD setup with Knobster, controls, hood, etc
They have built panels like that and they will modify to fit your monitors
If you send one to them.
Yes one Knobster can control knobs on any Air Manager panel on a monitor attached to that computer having the Knobster connected to it
Russ, I ordered the monitor and the bracket. Do you know if the knobster will work with FS2020 without air manager? I was thinking of displaying the G1000 on the touchscreen. So if I touch the altitude selector and then spin the knobster, will my altitude setting change? Or do I need air manager to do that?
It requires Air Manager.
Lol 👍
Thanks, Russ!
great Idea's, nice work..
I have the Wimaxit Touch Screen Monitor. But my laptop only has 2 Display Output Ports, which are (1)HDMI 2.0a and (2) miniDP 1.4
But when I connect the monitor via the HDMI 2.0a for video (I use the miniDP 1.4 for connection to my 27 in monitor) and and the USB C to USB A cable to my HUB for power - I have an issue.
You cannot get power and signal through the same port
That should solve your problem but you may need to calibrate the touch system if you have more than one touch monitor or if the monitor is not your main monitor.
Please show required cables & connections. Include connections to XForce PC with GeFprce RTX 2070 Video Card.
Eivind
several but best is i7-8750K RTX2080ti SSDs and 32Gb ram.
@eivindjohannes Did you mean that you have used a Knobster with the Simionic G1000 iPad apps?
@@youngfella3054 @Young Fella Hi. No, sorry for the confusion. I have not used it with a knobster. I don't even know if it's possible. It didn't exist when I was using Simionic. What I meant was that having a similar extra screen solution showing the instruments, now in combination with the knobster, is a great alternative to building an expensive panel.
Are there coupon codes for the Knobster? 130£ including shipping is pricey for us retirees.
I looked online before ordering and found none. I found the shipping very expensive. Mine is due to arrive tomorrow.
That's really nice Russ - but the price is a little too high for me. Looks like I'll be sticking to a laptop, oh well.

Thank you and have good day
The same frame can be either. Look in the panel settings under User Properties with the G1000 bezel selected and you can select PFD or MFD positions
Hello Russ. What do you think about considering a wireless touchscreen like **Asus ZenScreen** or **AirView** Wireless Multi-touch Screen ?
Look like a nice screen and it is nice getting rid of cables always but it is pretty pricey and for a simulator the cables are not that big a deal once things are set up.
Thank you.
My graphics card has no connections left (I use 3x displayport for my worksspace and 1x hdmi for the tv.)
I use the tv for flying.
@@rbarlow
But the question is if we know that the Prechen monitor leaves room for the Knobster and fits on the Touch Plate.
@Russ Barlow Same question on if the Prechen fits with the knobster as I already have both. I asked Stay Level on Instagram too.
How you can add two monitors, two brackets and one knob.
A mask with control knobs over a monitor running Air Manager is a good solution. Did you see this video th-cam.com/video/cKDfAx0CQsQ/w-d-xo.html
will air manager get 2020 moving along soon you think. i have the prodcut that works with x-plane, does that version also work with 2020, cant find anything, or i looked and i dont think i saw instrumentation panels or stuff for 2020 yet. havent looked in the last month however
Look on the Sim Innovations Wiki. Under desktop there is a Beta link. The version 4.0 public beta can be downloaded there and is free until it is released. The username and password for the beta are in the instructions. It is beta so there may be bugs or incomplete features but it works with FS2020
@@rbarlow Thanks Russ

@@rbarlow awesome thanks for the feedback
@@rbarlow Thank you very much for this information.
Is anyone having an issue with the beta that when they touch any knob on the touch screen it highlights, but as you rotate the camera in the cockpit moves instead
Hi russ I am just wondering how did you create the cj4 panel on msfs 2020?
Donchichi I made a small panel in Air Manager using community free instruments for the gear handle/indicators and a few other instruments. The two displays (PFD.ND) were just the popped out displays from FS2020 and dragged to the small panel monitor,
@@rbarlow ok thanks for the info russ. One more thing, how did you able to hide the window borders of the pop out panels? And after making that panel will it automatically show everytime you use cj4? Or you will still pop it out everytime you use cj4?
RUSS, CAN YOU PUT A G10000 BEZEL AROUND THIS MONITOR YOUR HAVE?
Sure but it would be much larger than the actual G1000. If you put a software touch bezel on the monitor it is the right size. If you want to do a DIY G1000 you really need a 4:3 aspect 10.4” display. Check out this webpage which will lead you to a guy who has everything you need. www.thingiverse.com/thing:4019943
He has a great TH-cam channel too
For the life of me I can't get my pc to pick up the touchscreen on this wimaxit monitor.
You also need to calibrate the pen and touch to associate the touch grid with the correct monitor if it is not the main monitor,

russ, met you 2 years at Orlando.....q: Is the a way to get the rel feel of a 6 pack and then trans. to glass instruments.
This is soooooo amazing!!!!!
Thanks for watching and commenting. Are associated with ERAU? I noticed your playlist had lots of videos from there.

Take my money.

@@rbarlow Just ordered mine. I'm 2 or 3 years from my retirement and looking forward to that day.
$99... wow.. that is a bit steep for some drilled steel. Damn this "hobby" is expensive... !
Power coated drilled steel with hardware. 😁 I have a video on making your own if so inclined. Not hard.
This might be an option th-cam.com/video/ED8S4Bat1C8/w-d-xo.html
LOL ".....MS is like that beautiful woman who is mean to you but you have to keep going back. " thats EXACTLY how I feel after a week trying to figure it out.
its a little disappointing because I had hopes for it but FS2020 is essentially designed for non pros to just turn on and fly around and do some sight seeing and stunts.
its a bit frustrating.
