- Today we unbox the Wltoys 104001 and test it on the track. This is probably the best 1/10 scale $150 buggy you can buy. The Wltoys 10401 is AWD that has a 540 brushed motor.

Love mine....bought it for 99 bucks shipped via amazon. Put a super low eng brushless system in it. Greased the diffs. Added a upper brace to prevent flex. Good little buggy.
can you give a link to the brace to prevent flexing ? i like the car but i'm afraid to order it since it flexes a lot

You can fit the ones for the XRAY XB4 on it, this car's a cheap clone of that platform.

That is a great little car, really tough relatively cheap, and parts are inexpensive.
I’ve upgraded the receiver, ESC, motor and servo in mine, it’s amazing.

Honestly, you could kit this thing out with parts from the car it's based on, the XRAY XB4, and some budget stock-class running gear and it'll still be cheaper than a full competition kit.

By the time you tune this thing and add the necessary parts you could even get an Associated.

Its definitely not the fastest but I think its a good buggy to start with if your just trying out the hobby

how do you find the gravel and dirt with the brushed motor? Would it not be fried pretty quickly?
So far all the brushed Wtoys buggies I have, have been pretty good on dirt without issues
Lower the suspension strength on the back its bouncing and giving you less control and speed

Right by the valley mall buddy! Me and a friend are building a huge one out near Bumblebee as well. Along with a pit bike track. Mostly for jumping trucks and bashing, but will be a legit race track as well

Been wanting one for a couple years, so I'll hopefully be able to get out there more often to get working on it. I'm in Hayden, so if you know anyone with some property closer between us and wants a fun track, I will design and build it for the price of letting me drive it lol. My mom made me tear mine out before I moved out of her house back in the day 😭

If you are just starting out, keep your expectations low because this is a disposable toy. To upgrade this you will quickly spend a lot more than its price tag, a lot more.
After the 144001 car of the year , wltoys made the flop of the year with that 104001. Thank you for the melted wing, that was a good lol.

Yes I wish they threw a brushless motor on it than it would of been a great car, its a great car just a little under powered
@@FortekNine The new car seems so weak and not worth the price to upgrade. Then the price is crazy regarding the 144001 you can buy 51€ when on promotion with aliexpress coupon. I am pretty sure they doubled or tripled their margins.
