I have one of these from new (23 years) 130k miles (4.0 Blenheim silver) imported from Holland saving 30% off the rip-off British price at the time.
What beautiful quiet SMA road surfaces everywhere on your video. Here in poverty-stricken Northern England the roads are maintained only with loose change - almost all are rough, broken or noisy and usually all three, so the suspension gets a proper workout every trip. Maintenance - wise It's a question of keeping a close eye on levels. There are leaks but nothing serious. I would say do frequent engine and drive train oil changes, use genuine parts wherever possible (especially EAS sensors) and nurse the engine, particularly when cold. As you say it really is a rewarding car to own, the engine noise and character, the peerless driving position, fantastic seats and even respect from other road users are a few of the long list of attributes. Also rarity value - very few around now in a sea of flashy new models. If only the used P38 values matched those of the discontinued Defender! Good luck with yours and thanks for the video.

I also own a p38 in Tokyo, but the best thing about this car is that no one else is driving it. In other words, it is a solitary car that exists outside of comparable cars like Mercedes and BMW, and is very rare. Of course, there are a lot of breakdowns, but once you get used to it, it's not a big deal. One shocking thing is that BRIT-CAR Parts has closed
I'm looking forward to more videos from you.

They also have one of the most advanced auto boxes. If you put it in low and press the sport button the box will start off and stay in the selected gear. I do not think there is another auto box that does that. Most will start at 1 and work up to the selected gear. :)

Kyle, thanks for the video. I'm a new '02 P38 owner, had a Disco II previously. Question on finding a original Range Rover factory roof rack assembly. I noticed you put one on and wanted to know where you found it and if it was pretty straight forward to put on the P338? Thanks.

Air suspension yep nice when it works alright. Arnott gen 3 you get ride and handling and more failure points. Mine popped the lower band after 5000kms.NO OFF ROADING in that period. Head gaskets sometimes heal back up too. Make sure it is and not Welch plugs. Oh and lose the factory plastic thermostat. Inline top hose one is the better, you choose the temperature. The only real other thing with mine in the last 8-9 years was a 27 cent capacitor. A blend motor is stuck but you learn to live with a pomey car. Ha ha enjoy

It sits very low, whoever converted it to springs didn't do a very good job. If I were you, I would replace the EAS, you should be able to do this for about £500 if you search the parts thoroughly. Don't be scared of the EAS system, I've had mine for 10 years now and I replaced all 4 air bags and the compressor with genuine Dunlop parts 6 years ago and I've not had any problems since, apart from the occasional soft fault that you can clear yourself with a cheap EAS kicker £50 from eBay. You will then have a much more comfortable ride and you can adjust the ride height for on road, off road and access. It's simple, and it works.

@@KylePantano Airlines are very cheap, should you need them. Don’t be scared 😧 of the EAS system. It is simple and it works perfectly. There are brand new Dunlop EAS compressors (genuine) on eBay now for £179.00 I’m gonna buy one and keep it for spare. You only need a reconditioned valve block and some air bags and your sorted.
