I was puzzled about that myself at one time. The setup is quite unusual. One chain is driven by first gear the other by second gear. So it's a 2-speed transmission with each speed having its own sprockets and chain. Most unusual don't you think
@@stanleydenning it may be unusual but I can't claim it as my own idea. It was used in Morgan '2 speeder' cars as early as 1909! It was also used by others, although not common these days. A friend John Irwin suggested it (half as a joke), but I thought it was a neat idea so we tried it. 😁
