- In this video I bought a Kawasaki Ninja H2 motorcycle engine from eBay for a future project. this motorcycle was in a bad accident so there are a lot of damaged and missing parts but I'm hoping that if I fix everything I can get this engine running.

The key needs to be coded to the ecu and you'll also need the handlebar switch gear to operate the dash. I'm a Kawasaki technician btw
Good looking out!
Can he get the key coded to the ecu at a Kawasaki dealership?
Only if the original is present. Otherwise a whole new security module and keys are needed. Source: also a kawi tech
LMAO give me the good ol days H2 that was a plain simple 2stroke without al of those shenanigans. Bloody nightmare
All my kwack.experience is old, do these have a clutch lever lock out like the modern Suzuki's? Embarrassing trying to start one without pulling the clutch, if you don't know, you don't know. Lol
Merry Christmas to everyone!!
Merry Christmas, Man
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas brother.....ThanX for sharing.....🔥🔥🔥❤️👍🏽💯
Merry Christmas!!!
Merry Christmas bro!
32:52 I know most probably don’t want to see the problem solving. However for some of us it’s exactly what we want to see. But I understand I’m in the minority. Happy holidays my friend.
+1
Ya I love this kinda 💩 but anyone see the Exhaust I mean I thought it was smoking so how isn't it sparking. I'm no tech guy so I give it gas and hope lol
yep
I want to see the journey, not just the destination. I like seeing the problem solving, as that’s life. Over coming challenges. Keep it up!
that's what makes me love watching this channel
I've been following this channel for several years now and I love that even though it now has 660K subs it is still everything I love and nothing I don't (lame ads). Also, I would build the stand that engine is sitting on and feel like a master fabricator lol seriously you have a talent.
Do you mean sponsored content?
Because there was no shortage of obtrusive, obnoxious, arsehole ads during this video, that's for sure!😅
Still, I will never, *ever* pay for premium, no matter how shit yt treats it's viewers, on principle alone.
I enjoy the problem solving also reading the comments that are full of good knowledge saying what's wrong while watching you trying to cave man it is always fun
Maybe some people don't want to see the problem solving but that's pretty much what I watch videos for.
I’m glad all my 70’s and 80’s Kawasaki motorcycles didn’t have any sensor crap!
Looking at this engine I think he'd be better off putting carbs on it!
@@1one3_Racing Nah, that's just admitting that you're beaten!😅
Sensor is good, it’s the manufacturer that put lock out whenever a sensor is missing or damaged. From manufacturer standpoint it is logical for safety but also a decision to make so that ppl can’t just pull stuffs out themselves because that won’t be a economical option if ppl can just fix it themselves every time. Which is the part that I don’t understand, even if ppl can fix it themselves ppl will still need to order whatever parts that were produced by the manufacturer too and that is also cash to be made but they just too greedy I guess.
This is an amazing video! I truly appreciate the effort you put into these longer formats that you create. I find them to be quite enjoyable and engaging.
Oh boy.....something nuts is coming soon! Nice score! That's a slick way to send something. Bagging it is even smarter!
You have amazing patience, really hope you figure it out. Personally I prefer these types of vids, it's fun watching you go through it and learning from yea. Never give up.
Hey Chris, here's a tip, get a garden sprayer, put some acetone in it, and spray the foam. It will dissolve it.
Now you just produce homemade napalm 😂 all joke aside napalm residual made a god damn amazing waterproof and indestructible glue itself when dried.
Bro you are the best builder in youtube --- totaly underrated (been years watching)
stop be a snitch
I'm glad you're doing an on road project!!
I'm glad someone is making an on-road project for once. It's going to be awesome.
That shipper had a customer complaint about subpar packing…once 😄
me thinks they knew where it was going and did it for a laugh knowing it woukd be on youtube, but I'm twisted that way.
The thing is, what RBW suggested (multiple garbage bags) is the standard in shipping. I've had several crashed bikes sent and they were ALL packed that way. Sooo... i think they ran out of trash bags. It doesn't work with any trash bag eitehr. You need the thicker ones. All it takes is one rip and it makes a mess. The guy that ships parts to me from US (to UK) always packs them that way. Same foam too, the white-ish type that's easy to tear by hand. Had to break a few bits that got around handlebars making it difficult to remove. The guy is so confident in the method he doesn't even wrap the bike, so all you have to do is remove the box and pull the foam bits. So yeah. I think the shipper ran out of bags.
4:30 Looks like an avalanche of snow fell through the roof. One of the wildest unboxing videos ever!
Beast motor incoming. Idk if you get it running but i cant wait for the build your gonna come up with for it
“A little less foam next time” 💀💀💀💀
y didn't he just bag the foam wen he was removing it at the same time ?
@ that’d be lame
Love. it... I really liked this video... Its great to see the real issues that us budding builders will encounter
Brill,at last another motorcycle engine project can't wait to see this one, F1 go cart!🤓 Happy Christmas Chris 🇬🇧
I think you are close... I'm hoping for a street legal Formula Chris 1 that he can legally use for quick parts runs.
There's a guy over on "boostedlifestyle" building one of those. I was hoping Chris would build one too.
My 2012 Kawasaki Concours has an immobilizer, hard to imagine a 2020 H2 would not.
That’s the craziest packaging I’ve ever seen! 😮
Unpacking that engine is the ultimate Christmas present!
Keep at it man. I’m rooting for you!
Whenever I did foam for packing at my old job we put a bag in first lol. Bag, fill the bag, shove in the bottom, let it expand. Then put a bag on top, fill it, close the box lol.
You almost have to expect it would be quite difficult to put that engine into something else and get it to work properly. I have my fingers crossed for you bro. It sure is an amazing engine.
Remember that gasoline drench when you take your first ride on whatever this engine goes into. I want to hear your maniacal laugh as you rip down the road thinking about that drench. 🤣
never heard someone complain something was packed too well before lmao
He is right though. That was over kill to the extreme.
It's packed good enough to handle a head on car crash into the crate 😂 But it's meant to be shipped in cargo
You need to meet my wife. She can complain about anything.
The amount of the foam got me :D
This build is going to be cool. I’d love to see it in one of those mini trucks. The H2 is a beast of a motorcycle
Greetings. If you changed the lock and key from another motorcycle, there is a high probability that it is an anti-theft system, the so-called immobilizer. Usually, if you change the key and lock with the antenna, you have to buy the same ECU.
36:03
@@g.p.880 the so called kawasaki technicians above didn't watch the whole video lol
Award for the most epic unboxing video on youtube contender.
I admire your courage on this project.
Hey dude. I’m not 100% sure. But with certain vehicles (modern ones) new parts have to be coded to the ecu. That can also cause the engine not to start/be sluggish turning over
The tip over sensor orientation is critical. sometime UP wording means lateral sometimes vertical. Had this problem with GSX1400. You need to see how it was originally mounted on bike. Also ECU and key probably matched in this modern a bike. Clutch cut out likely linked to ECU on some it acts like a choke changing map for start up.
i was also thinking tip over orientation might be different to what he thinks
This is absolutely key
Chris, some of us enjoy the problem solving so keep it up please. I know your pain with the wiring harness, I've replaced the frames on two BMW K1300S which included the wiring harnesses but at least I wasn't putting them on an entirely different machine. Good luck!
Sorry to see you struggle with More 'wiring harness' problems. Anywho...
Merry Christmas to you and yours, also to all the fans worldwide !
The shipper should have put the word "Fragile" on the crate and made it a true Christmas story vibe.
Bro for a second i thought the bike wasnt covered with platic at all and the foam was filled in every last crevice of the bike. I would have lost my shit😂
19:39 ETV is electronic throttle valve. It’s a ride by a wire motorcycle so that is definitely important. Nice job on the fab fuel tank!
It’s like they sent you an ancient artifact from a museum 😂
32:50 that's not true. For me, I love seeing the whole process and learning as much as possible off this stuff. Great video keep up the amazing work!!👌
Double check the crankshaft position sesnor snd camshaft position sensor are not damaged and tht they have continuity for they both communicate with the ecu for controlling spark
RIP the rider.
You have a lot of patience.
Kudos to you 😊
If you haven't tried, you might remove the tip over sensor and knock it a few times. It's possible with the impact from the accident it jammed, they have been known to do that even in a simple fall over. I have a Kaw, zx-14r, obviously not a H2, but probably similar enough.
Two things, one is the clutch lever safety switch and the other is the side stand switch, both or either will stop the engine from running.
Think you are right and 2 paper clips would probably fix it to close the circuit on each.
I could be wrong, but I think with all my modern bikes you have to pull the clutch, the switch has to be on, and the kickstand has to be up just to allow it to turn over (It's turning over, just not starting). I'm guessing its the key or some other sensor, or some harness short.
you dont know nothing about motorcycles go to school
thats if its in gear , he needs to make sure its in neutral
@@mrmekone not on the H2, you can start without the clutch in......
41:29 was worth watching the whole video...just saying 😂
Whoever packaged that up is a sociopath.... That packaging says "thank you for buying this... I'm also sending all of my pain and suffering as a freebie". 😂😂
Edit: After watching the video I feel like this is the type of project that whenever you finish, the owners manual and repair guide just lives in the back of your memory forever and the only place it shows up is in nightmares... Or if a friend is fixing one, but when you're trying to fix it you can't remember anything but if your buddies then you can tell them the whole book verbatim and even the page number. 😂
Older Kawas needed a 100 ohm resistor in the ignition key loom as a rudimentary security system. I bet the modern ones have all sorts of chips in the key that are matched to the computer, so I hope you are using the oem key.
Excessive amounts of foam? Yes. But it at least came not anymore broken up.
Whatever the new project is, its going to be fast.
I wonder if the ECU doesn't have some damaged pins that while might be barely enough to make contact, it's not making good contact to allow it to turn over. Damaged pins can cause a lot of problems and being this was in a wreck, odds are not zero it's a bad pin or multiple bad pins or bad connections in the wiring harness.
I watched a guy try and track down a 'non start' issue after the vehicle had been in a shop and partially re-assembled. They'd bent ONE Pin under the ECU board to it's mounting bed/platform. After straightening the pin, it fired right up. Not saying that's this problem. I agree with the 'foaming' solve would've been to put bags around the engine and filled Them, thus filling the box.
Merry Christmas buddy.. Thanks for the great show and God bless
I hope to see this engine on a body that is as light as possible, or the lightest of all your projects, so that I can benefit from it as much as possible and not put it in a heavy chassis.
Once you see that structure of pipes you can determine what it is, even if it is in any condition or without covers
3:54 steel oil drum + acetone. The finite product is actually good to coat wood stuff with. Flammable, but good. Well, the wood is flammable regardless... so it's ok.
Dude, I’m watching and enjoying this video. Is it just me or are you totally channeling a young Christian Slater?
Some of those sensors need earth and not just hanging in the air!
i was listening and watching the start. looked atmy phone for a second and seen..IT WAS FILLED WITH EXPANDING FOAM HAHAHA I dropped my jaw, when i looked up again to see that mess. And the little blue peeking through..i guess we have a bike .LOL
Hi from France
Engine dont have ignition because of the immobilizer
Your key needs to be appaired with your ECU , it has a code in it
Was gonna say the same thing
If u watch the entire video only some ofnthem have immobilizer he has the ecu thatbdoes not require one 😊
@@revodrvr was just going to say the same thing
Love seeing the process! This is going to be a great one is can tell.
When the fuel shot out the engine i actually flinched lol
pinched pipes, canisters, tanks. the way we fix them is pressure them and heat with oxy torch. 8 bar and heat slowly and it will come right out. if there are cracks tig weld the crack so it´s not leaking air.
"I comment to much" BUT I def want to see all the problem solving. Some of the funnest stuff to see!!
Lol best Christmas box unrap ever😅 and a h2❤ wow
Awesome! This will definitely gain more followers. Kinda sacrifice a mess for a Engine arriving in one piece.
Perfect packaging for what you bought
Merry Christmas, cant w8 for part2
We sorta drove by you yesterday! We were on rt. 81 heading back to NY from Alabama and I thought of you! I see there are still warnings to avoid Asheville!!!???
Good luck buddy!
Merry Christmas back at ya!
This built is going to be crazy❤
If the kickstand switch is the problem the engine will not gave any respond when you push start button, but in your case its able to cranked up but cannot allowed to give you spark, i can only thinking its some security system that had been implemented to the bike inside the ecu.
Go back to the broken ecu try to start it, if its giving you spark then you need to find the way to bypass the security system to be able use the new ecu.
Sorry for my broken english btw 😅😅😅
take a test light and check power to the ignition coils if not jump 12v. to ignition side of coil/ clutch lock out and side stand lock out generally just don't let it crank over
Now that is some quality packing protection
sorry I couldn't tell from the video but the kickstand switch has to be closed so what most racers do is unplug the sensor and then bridge the prongs on the harness side, good luck figuring it out
Merry Christmas rather b welding
Uggghhhh, to think how pissed I get with foam peanuts in packages.... You handled it really well.
Great video, like the packaging😂 no damage possible
From what I understand the tip over sensor needs to be mounted the kickstand also needs to be get the key coded for the bike hopefully that helps the tip over can't be plugged into the harness and sitting on top like that it needs to be mounted then you can plug it in
Loved the video. Merry christmas 🤶 🎄
I love the troubleshooting!..🎉
Love your videos! Please make your next project with that engine a home made formula 1 car. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas! I was laughing my but off at all the foam! You didn't mention a kill switch. Might be something to look at. Good luck though!
Like you, I was not expecting that epic spray of gas!!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family Chris, stay safe.
Gahh Lee that’s a lot of foam. I guess it’s what must be done but wow😂 + merry Christmas!🎄
Wow something road worthy. Can't wait
Can am would probably be doing better with there sales if they had that motor(H2) option in the Spyder or Ryker. ha
An Arial Atom type build would be sweet with that kind of horsepower.
That’s all right you get the test done. If it doesn’t run, you can always return it.
Beyond all the immobilizer security and safeties. Basic efi. 1st you’ll need crank position sensor. Make sure it has a source voltage. You probably won’t be able to see it working without an oscilloscope or software to see what the computer is seeing.
hi. My first thought was the clutch switch (pulled clutch lever by starting the engine). The quickest checkk. Open Kickstand switch shuts off the engine if you get in gear, so the engine normaly runs in neutral with open kickstand switch. But at least i think you should check the ignition unit. good luck
they are not taking you advice, they are doing this more. this was they funniest unboxing going.
I have a 55 gallon drum and live in the woods.. all of that would get burned in my neck of the woods 😆
same
I love carbureted 2 strokes, can't get any easier than that 😁
It’s definitely gonna be the immobilizer and the keys gotta be programmed to that computer that bike. It’s not gonna start until you can get that straightened away. Hope you and your family have a merry Christmas.
If you want to go a bit more custom you could run this bike engine with an aftermarket ecu. It would require a bit of tuning and such but I am sure something like the megesquirt, speeduino or haltech should be able to handle this engine. Also would let you remove all the extra 2020 electronic bs (abs, tilt sensors, coded keys)make it just a simple "hopefully" super charged fuel injected bike. I converted an older cbr 600 with the speeduion and worked well. Turns a pretty complex ecu and wiring system into a pretty simple system after it is done.
I like the foam packaging!!!!!
Hopefully you figure out what’s wrong with it can’t wait to see what you come up next project 😊
Could have fixed the oil cooler hose like we do for 2 stroke expansion chambers by filling it with water and freezing it and it will expand it back out. Cut it flush at the top get some plugs to fit in each end fill with water put plugs in it freeze it. Once back to shape tig it back in place.
Merry Christmas brother!! Cant wait to see what you do with her
I think you can cut off the broken parts and still use them. Maybe you just need to add a little rubber pipe connection or use a slightly longer hose
Love it so much keep it up as always 💘
You should put the frame online for sale when you're done with it. At least for a while. I sure know i appreciated someone, years ago, putting their damaged frame, picked clean because i could cut the bad parts out of mine and repair it with a perfectly clean donor on the cheap. Just a thought.
