I have been binge watching these videos. I have to say, even though I think I always knew this: You firefighters are a rare breed. After spending 11 years in the Marine Corps, I believe firefighters are the real BADASSES. The danger you put yourselves into to knock down fires and save lives blows my mind. THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU DO!!!!

"you will have no skin below the waist when the fire burns it off *WE NEED TO GO RIGHT FUCKING NOW*
      "you make a compelling argument"
Right talk though that lady sounded like she thought that family member was still inside and knew they where dead when she saw the fire. She just broke down. Thank god they got out before but for that moment her world ended.

Came here to say exactly this. I haven't seen any Stockton videos before but felt compelled to come in and give kudos. All around from call taker, dispatcher, first crews on scene and incident command all keeping their cool and getting to work. IC is on point. Clear radio communication. The whole deal. This is textbook firefighting. This service should be very proud!

Johnny Toronto Well said, and this was not a “fluke,” whereas they just happened to get it right. Look for more Stockton Fire videos and you’ll be further convinced that they’ve got their $**T together. I believe they use a lot of Phoenix Fire’s SOPs, which explains a lot. I've seen several Stockton videos where from the 911 call, driving there and putting out the fire took 10 to 15 minutes. I've seen several videos of other fire departments where it takes them 15 minutes to get their hoses hooked up and running.

Nice video! I love the that it confirms so many things like closing doors to rooms to create tenable spaces for residents, how opening and closing doors create flow path, VES tactics, footing ladders correctly, the fact that it doesn't take two people to throw a 24 foot ladder, searching a fulling involved building can still be done safely AND with success!

I once had a similar situation with a resident (lady) refusing to come down the ladder so I removed my tunic and dressed her in it then walked her down the ladder with my body shielding her from onlookers. Simple. Once on the ground we put her in the appliance with a blanket and went back to work. Vanity is a strange thing but you do what you can to get them out.

Nice work, and way to notice the viable living space from the outside of the building. Strong ladder work - I was wondering why the aerial never got raised, though. I noted the high voltage lines in the front of the building, but it looked as though there was room under them to get the ladder up if the truck was positioned well.

Really annoying that the lady wouldn't leave her apartment. Imagine if there WERE other victims in the building but they couldn't even get to them yet because they were still trying to get her to leave!
At that point, they should have just physically lifted the woman against her will and started forcing her out through the window so they can move onto the next task!

Fast Spreading Fire = 2, 2-1/2" hose lines to knock down exterior fire showing. This fire stream application does 2 things. 1) it protects the exposures. 2) it slows the progress of the fire on the interior so an interior hoseline (1-3/4") can be streached to stop the fire from spreading.

Let’s not get/go crazy with calling them better than the FDNY. They’re are very well trained and know how to fight fire. But comparing them to a dept with so many more resources and manpower is a tad silly. That being said they’re as good as any other fire dept. you’ll see operating in this day and age with the manpower and equipment they have access too.

I know victims are sometimes combative and do not realize the danger present. Advice to those watching this video if you are told to get out of a burning structure don't argue. All that does is delay fire rescue personnel from getting to other possible victims and expose themselves and the fire fighters to unnecessary risks.

That is the best footage i've ever seen by any firefighter channel. It is very helpful to see how dangerous fires are. When it's not edited and everything is rough footage, especially with the helmet cams inside. An apartment down the hall from me had a fire in our apartment complex. We have fire suppression sprinklers with the red tube inside. That red tubes burst at 165°. Thankfully, that fire in that apartment was out before the 2 minutes that it took for Dallas fire department to get here. We live downtown in a high rise. We are surrounded by more hospitals than I can count and at least five fire stations within a five mile radius or less. 2 of the Dallas fire stations are within 2 miles of where we live in downtown Dallas. We live in a newer building. We have fire suppression pression sprinklers everywhere, and a fire control room that can actually call the fire department with its computers. If this building had caught fire, somehow, right after it was finished being built and before anyone moved in. I know all this. Because I asked the firefighters when my down the hall neighbors had a fire due to taking sleep while cooking a feast. All 4 burners were in use, and all the food was on 🔥. Luckily for us. No smoke entered through our front door. It's a metal door. I did walk out to see what was going on. I was about to be choked out by the white smoke that smelled like all foods burning. It was thick smoke. It smelled like a good BBQ, though. I didn't stay out there for long. I got my 9 layer covid mask and went back out to talk with the firefighters. They explained everything to me about it being a huge food 🔥.

Very interesting, informative video. Could someone tell me what the high-pitched siren/wail is for? Would that notify a firefighter that their oxygen is running low? Also, is it standard to identify structures with A, B, C, etc. sides? The comment about the staircase was an eye-opener - are architects trained in designing firefighter-accessible structures?

    • @aaronbeekay
      @aaronbeekay 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The sirens are PASS devices - if they don’t detect movement for some period of time, they sound an alarm in case the firefighter is incapacitated. You can see firefighters doing a little wiggle to silence the alarms at several points.
Yes, the A/B/C/D system is standard; the “A” side is the side facing the street, and then B, C, D progress counterclockwise around the building.

I have seen most other department play the surround and soak tactic, the instant they get the primary search done. You guys never went to the mainstreams on the deck guns. That water deluge damages everything, and also had the additional thought for a victim's privacy. The fact you didn't back off and soak it is probably why the fire did not burn all night.

Call out additional stations or neighboring cities for mutual aid assistance.

Amazes me how people panic so bad and can't even compose themselves to call for help.

If you ever get frustrated with the person on the other end of the radio in dispatch, ask yourself if you'd be ready at any moment to answer a phone call like this, not knowing the situation you were about to attempt to mitigate over the air.....

Great work! I do wonder, however, if they had taken the window frame and all out if it would have aided in victim removal

Looks like a heavy fire load in the second floor blew this into a 3 alarm fire. Edit: Just watched where you said it was gas fed... But that room looked like a pig pen...
