    Please never change this filming style.
    The time devoted to certain things is perfect, the time lapse from inside the bay was something I would love to see more of, and you showed every aspect of the calls, and the station life. Y'all are great!

      @austinnelms65 Me too man. I was a volunteer FF for about 8 years. Left due to the politic bs. Miss it a lot. But as my one buddy says who is still in the fire service says “once a ff, always a ff.”

    Amazing positive and professional attitude demonstrated by all the staff in this clip. I'm a paramedic practitioner in the UK and what I see shown here, is excellent knowledge and skill by the paramedic. I think it is impressive that you guys keep up to date with both paramedic and firefighting skills. Loved watching.

      I like listening for unique differences in each siren I hear.
      Not just for fire/EMS but also police cars, too.

    I served as a Volunteer firefighter here with the B.C.F.D. in the late 80s did go out on a few calls as well as got certified in Fireman One state Fire Fighter Academy in N.M.. I really enjoyed being a firefighter then and learning so much about fire suppression. I served for a year and half . I also enjoyed of course putting the wet stuff on the hot stuff lol. I personally liked the segment of this video about the Father son relationship and the son following dads foot steps in firefighting. Before being a Volunteer firefighter? I worked in the EMS field in Massachusetts in Revere and Salem . Anyway thanks guys for the video . I enjoy watching these . It's great stuff indeed. 👍

  • @nightlightsafetyproducts
    @nightlightsafetyproducts 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love watching these videos. Do you have continuous training?

    • @WestMetroFire
      @WestMetroFire  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We do a lot of training. District wide organized training - usually at our training center- and, company officers often hold trainings of their own at the fire station. Station 8 is our dive team station, so they have even more training that's required each year for the firefighters to be certified as Public Safety Divers. After firefighters graduate from Academy, they are required to complete task books on each of the apparatus- engine, tower, medic (ambulance). So, if a newer firefighter is working at a station, each crew member might work with the newer firefighter to help get items checked off, and make sure that they're mastering the skills. This is a profession where there's always something new to learn and practice.

    Why the econoline chassis for the ambulances? If crews are spending 48 hours working off these rigs, why not give them a bit more room? Is it a cost thing? Just curious is all, differing opinions and SOPs is what makes the fire service the fire service.

    • @WestMetroFire
      @WestMetroFire  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cost and maintenance are factors in whatever apparatus we purchase. The ambulances (medics) we run deliver a smoother ride for both firefighters and patients- with better suspension. We do have some four-wheel drive medics in use at our WUI (wildland/urban interface) stations, where crews may have more challenging terrain to navigate.

    • @masonpletz7033

      @@WestMetroFire Makes total sense. Im currently assigned to an F550 4x4 chassis medic unit, however came from the econoline chassis. Thanks for the info! Stay safe!

    Does a rig always get dispatched with an ambulance for all medical calls? If so, what is the purpose for having a full engine/truck respond in tandem for what seem like basic medical calls?

    • @WestMetroFire
      @WestMetroFire  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      An engine is dispatched with an ambulance because the engine crew is often closer to the call and they can initiate care sooner before the ambulance arrives. There is at least one paramedic on board every West Metro apparatus. Also- the extra hands on scene improves efficiency in care, and ensures adequate resources when the patient's condition is more critical than initially dispatched.

    What does tac 2 mean sorry for the dumb question

    • @WestMetroFire
      @WestMetroFire  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tac (tactical) 2 is one of the radio channels used for active calls. Tac 3 is the radio channel we use for structure fires. Basically, using those channels frees up the main dispatch channel and directs radio traffic on that particular call to its own channel. It makes it easier for dispatch and crews to monitor and respond to the radio traffic linked to that particular incident.

      Hi Jerry: not a permanent assignment. Jake was doing his tower task book at Station 8. All new firefighters have task books for each apparatus and will be assigned a station to complete that task book.
