I'm not a spear fisherman. I can't swim, so I fish with rod and reel. But I do agree that this is the most environmentally friendly method of catching fish. You can choose your target based on what you need. As long as it is done to bring food on the table. Great video! And the fact that the thumbnail is not a clickbait really deserves some respect!

After catching a fish we kill it instantly with a knife through the head.We do that to stop the fish suffering and at the same time,stop toxins concentration on the meat of the fish.Fish start producing toxins within the meat when the struggle for a long time...Usually fish shot with a speargun are killed within a minute while fish caught on lines and nets struggle for hours until they finally suffocate To death.
Many people don't get it. We have to understand that such a fishing technic is far cleaner as most of the other ones. The guy goes almost alone in the depht, with his lungs and this great equipment, discretion and réflexes are the most important. THIS is sport fishing. And these videos are really "wtf"! As a diver myself I reccomend you never stick your hand in a hole in the rocks on any reef unless you are okay with losing your fingers or your hand! Moray eels bite and get huge and powerful and will not hesitate to bite. So it's not smart sticking your hand in any dark hole unless your sure what is inside but how can you be sure? Like I said unless your okay with losing your hand it's not smart. The music in this video is hilarious lol. Also why did he spear that big rock fish? For what? That was rude and obnoxious. You better eat it! Wow in video number two I think look at how beautiful the light refraction is in the deep blue!!! Like a living sapphire in truth! Lovely! The beautiful water is reason enough to go diving add to that all the miraculous color of a living reef and the life and it becomes spiritual. But don't hurt the coral it has a membrane of mucus over it that if its touched by anything hard it can be broken and it may die. Please do not touch the corals unless they are dead already. I don't think there is anything wrong with spear fishing as long as you eat the fish or if it's a parasitic invasive type but spearing should be done only with great respect and reverence and only for good solid reason. Nice catch at the end there looks like a large snapper?

I must say though that this is the first time I have ever bothered to read the comments and am amazed by the amount of ignorance on here. Are so many people in the World just brainwashed morons now? The cleanest and most sustainable way of obtaining meat for the table. To all of the people living off vegetables, nuts etc bought in a supermarket. Where do you think they come from? Land that has been cleared of it's fauna and flora to grow monoculture crops that are sprayed and that deplete the soil. Denying native life the right to live and thrive there. Fields are just human created deserts. Enjoy soya? Well that's more acres of the Amazon cleared to grow it. Think before you comment people!
I know you don't actually want to hear an argument, but yeah. Killing fish, or any animal, when you don't need to, begs the question of whether thats morally justifiable. It's definitely not sustainable, Imagine if everyone did it. Soya grown in the Amazon is used to feed cattle, soy for human consumption comes from france and other such countries. If you want animals to live free, def go vegan.

it wasnt that deep...it was about just 19m deep...sometimes we dive down to even 50m deep...!

I must say though that this is the first time I have ever bothered to read the comments and am amazed by the amount of ignorance on here. Are so many people in the World just brainwashed morons now? The cleanest and most sustainable way of obtaining meat for the table. To all of the people living off vegetables, nuts etc bought in a supermarket. Where do you think they come from? Land that has been cleared of it's fauna and flora to grow monoculture crops that are sprayed and that deplete the soil. Denying native life the right to live and thrive there. Fields are just human created deserts. Enjoy soya? Well that's more acres of the Amazon cleared to grow it. Think before you comment people!

I know you don't actually want to hear an argument, but yeah. Killing fish, or any animal, when you don't need to, begs the question of whether thats morally justifiable. It's definitely not sustainable, Imagine if everyone did it. Soya grown in the Amazon is used to feed cattle, soy for human consumption comes from france and other such countries. If you want animals to live free, def go vegan.

We also spear fish at night here in cebu Philippines, near the shore, a lot of squids and rabbit fish with our self made underwater lights and spear .
it's prohibited to spearfish during the night when fish sleep over here!
