mini PC for those who don't care about value for money and just need really small pc laptop for those who don't care about peak performance (same performance as mini pc) and want portability PC for those who don't care about size or portability but want peak performance and value for money hope that clears for peeps new to this
Single channel memory is techspeak for "do not purchase for gaming or development". Good vid. Feeling like I'm going eGPU to save time space and money, all I want is Monster Hunter Wilds at 1080p60, not feeling sure about these 780m boxes for longevity even though I would improve their cooling etc.
Egpu will have a 15% performance hit from running in pcie x4 so a 3060 would probably match a 4050. And the 3060 alone is $280 not including the dock. So with an egpu your in for at least $200 than the laptop for similar performance. Mini PCs aren't good value
ah no not only egpu will always have performence hit, you'll also have to pay extra for an egpu enclosure (still expensive AF) apart from GPU so laptops are better deal
Hi.. what is your take on the long term reliability of these mini pcs? There are quite a number of users reporting issues with their units. Im interested to get one of these mini pcs but unsure if it would fail very soon.
Of all the mini PCs I’ve used, only one of them was DOA, and another had a part failure. One of the Beelink S12 Minis we have had it’s fan die when we had a storm come through and messed up the power. It was one of the only systems not on a UPS. When the power finally came back, the system fan no longer worked. I can’t seem to find a replacement for it on aliexpress. I would say the reliability isn’t as high as some other products but price is a big factor there. If you buy a cheap dell, hp, or Lenovo computer, their quality and customer support is also very hit or miss.
@@EVOTech1 Yup. The price is very compelling. Are these failures generally repairable by replacing part or by a pc repair shop? I wouldn't mind if something fails but is still repairable.

Not to mention that with the mini, you can always add an eGPU dock and then just an RTX 3060 or something like that for
Laptops are portable btw.
I can take my laptop, charger and a mouse to anywhere and start playing games. But not possible with mini Pc.

and if you really want to be cost effective then just get a PC
