    When B.O.B. crashes his dad's space car on the way to pick up his date, he finds himself stranded on a hostile asteroid filled with enemies. By collecting power ups and using fast reflexes, B.O.B. tries to find his way off the asteroid and to his date.
    B.O.B. (known in Japan as Space Funky B.O.B.) is a video game that was released in 1993. It is a 2D shooter and a platform game. It was developed by Gray Matter Inc. and Foley Hi-Tech Systems, and published by Electronic Arts for both the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Sega Mega Drive/Genesis. The cover art for the EA packaging was illustrated by Marc Ericksen. In August 2006, GameSpot reported that Electronic Arts would be also porting B.O.B. to the PlayStation Portable as part of EA Replay. It was released in North America on November 7, 2006. On September 12, 2008 the source code of the SNES version became available as it was found on an eBay-bought hard drive.
    The player can choose from a wide variety of weapons and gadgets called "remotes", each with their own ammunition or stock. Use of remotes, such as a trampoline or helicopter, is necessary to complete some stages. A punch is also available when ammunition for B.O.B.'s gun runs out, or if the player wishes to conserve it. There is a time limit on every stage and once it runs out B.O.B. starts losing health. The game uses the same game engine as the Wayne's World video game, also developed by Gray Matter. Elements of the shooting, jumping, and boss battles are very similar between the two games.
    I tried to collect all pick-ups on every stage but intentionally missed some on one stage because of a combination of tight time limit and my own mistakes. -

    I played this game when I was a kid. I think I borrowed it from one of my classmates for a weekend. I liked it, but couldn't get far and soon forgot all about it. Now I got it on an emulator, and for some reason I really really enjoy it to the point where I want to finish it this time. That's strange, considering how many games I liked in the past that I don't care about now, but with this game it's almost the opposite. Really enjoy all that 90's 'tude and silly humor.

    What I love about EA's games back then is that most of them were quite large so you got your money's worth.

    This game is already not bad, but if you compare this with Wayne's World game (which uses the same engine), it's a freaking masterpiece.

      @@samdavid8531 It sounds more metallic then the SNES, which suits the kind of game B.O.B is

    • @samdavid8531
      @samdavid8531 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Metallic is right. That's why people say the Megadrive sounds like robot farts. For some games FM really comes into its own, like Sonic and Streets Of Rage, but this game isn't one of them. The slowdown on the SNES version is inexcusable though - just walking makes the music noticeably slower

    Hah i remember this game. Cool game and all, and really long to boot. One glitch that we found was that if there was a health powerup on lava or something, if u were on a scrap of health and u collected the heal pickup just as you melted, the game would automatically assume you beat the level and just continue on to the next level. Helped with some of the tougher sections lol

    Good game with some good shooting and platforming. I also enjoy the graphics and music.
    However the level design from around a third into the game and onwards can be downright cheap and badly designed at times... Enemy placement often means you have to take a hit and there are plenty of times you can't even complete a stage without an appropriate item, not to mention there are times you have to take leaps of faith.
    Oh and the time limit later on means you have to dash through a level or die 🤦🏼‍♂️
    Still I enjoyed a lot of the game but got frustrated at times.

      I prefer the sega version way more, it has a way better groove. And the sound effects on the Sega version are way more satisfying especially when you kill an enemy. Perhaps I'm biased because I played this on Sega Genesis but I've watched footage from the super nice version and I also had snes as a kid and I have to give it to the Sega Genesis for the edge on this one.

      Genesis version sucks cos gameplay is very limited, you have to constantly pause the game to change weapons and itens, on the other hand on the SNES version you can easily change weapons and itens with the shoulder buttons plus you can use the melee attack with the A button too. SNES wins.
