  • Can I break 100? - EVERY SHOT IN 11 MINUTES
A round of golf at Silver Birch course in Betws Yn Rhos. It's a par 3 course with a relaxed atmosphere, footgolf and no dress code.
The round cost £15 in June 2021. The prices have since increased and it's now £18 for 18 holes.
I'm James, a golfer with a dodgy swing playing off a 27 hcp. I'm looking to break 100 this year without taking any formal golf lessons. Even if I don't shoot a good score I always enjoy strolling around the fairways of North Wales, UK :-)
I like to play lots of different courses and today it's at the Silver Birch course in Betws Yn Rhos.
    Todays course: silverbirchgol...

The fact that you took the effort and time to make this enjoyable video tells me what a great golfer you are and you enjoyed your golfing. There are many who have good scores but are stressed out every time they play because their scores disappointed them.

You're right, a lot of people don't seem to enjoy the game unless they are playing their A game every time they tee up. I was once in a group behind a guy and every putt he missed he'd f bomb at the top of his voice! Quite funny actually! haha thanks for watching :-)

This video reminds me of my early years of golf. If i got under 110 i was ecstatic. I once scored 65 on a nine hole course that only had a par score of 31 ! So you can see how bad i was. 20 years on and I'm off 17 at 60, with a best 18 hole score of 81. Keep at it and enjoy. And save yourself lots of time by finding a good pro. Great video.

Thanks for the video. If you worked on your putting your handicap would probably come down loads! have you watched Phil Micklesons putting tutorials? They are super helpful and talk about the 'dustbin lid' / working on getting nothing more than a two put etc etc. The green is where the score happens. Your iron and woods shots were pretty consistent and good, keep it up!

FYI, on hole 3, losing the ball would be a stroke AND distance penalty (unless red staked hazard area) so you should be hitting your 3rd from the previous spot, which would be back on the tee again in this instance. If using the local rule for pace of play, it would be a 2 stroke penalty to drop in the fairway nearest to the point it went out.
Best of luck with your progress in your game!

“Executive courses” (Par 59 to 62) like these are great. You can mess up a tee shot and still be left with a wedge or short iron opportunity that we have to master at some point when playing the par 70 and 72s. I find it harder to lower the handicap on courses like these due to the course rating/slope because a par 3 is still a pesky par 3. Ultimately the goal is to nail it on the short par 4s as they are totally reachable in 2. Nice video work. Smooth and steady.

your ball contact is crazy good for a 27 hcp😉
I'd suggest a straighter left arm ( don't let the elbow collapse) and a much shorter backswing from 70 yards and in. same with the long putts.

If you bogied 9 and 18 you would have been loads under your handicap. I agree and appreciate the earlier comment that you know your shot shape and play it. Although you have that 5 wood? Or hybrid? That draws, where everything else fades..?

The club selection is maddening you can hit your 7 iron 140s but pull a 26° hybrid for 110yd shot is it a iron confidence thing? You have great distance control with metals though

@@anitabaath2426 Really???? What part of consistent don't you understand? He didn't top or duff a single tee or fairway shot. He would likely be 70 hdcp at Augusta, what's your point?
plus his chipping technique is really good

He just needs to practice on the putting and he can lower his handicap really good. He is three putting a lot of the wholes which is no good try to minimize to two puts

Equitable Strokes Control stops counting after triple bogey when you are a 27. Any quads or worse you might think he would score when the fairways narrow and trees get more involved will stay triples when the math is done. He wouldn’t be a 50. The handicap system is your friend on BOMB holes when you drop an 8 on a Par 3 or lose your mind with a 12 on a par 5. Shooting +23 on a course sloping at 85 with a 48 course rating makes me believe his 27 was legit. In another video his +15 on a par 72 sloping in the 120s made me believe he’s a little better than an 18. His short game and putting was on point so maybe it was one of his best rounds which is totally cool.
