Best review I have ever watched, you are the first person to highlight the problems and go back to the manufacturer and be able to resolve the issues. This shows how good you and MoniMoto are. They are clearly working to produce a good product.
Maan !! .. in the last video you almost convinced me that people aren`t mostly the scumbags , but very nice creatures we should love and respect . I already began to think about uninstalling alarm on my bike and removing the chain and locks. And now … now you ruined all that . Man , you`re tearing my heart apart !
I bought this device last year after searching for GPS tracking devices, for me I found this the best device. Other tracking devices that plug into your battery will be easily found, first place thieves will look. Other devices I found that worked with battery the life was short 2 weeks and you had to manually turn it on and off with your phone, and good luck for support your on your own. As far as service and support with Monimoto was EXCELLENT, even after a year when I contacted them. This should be your last line of defense when all else fails. I would like to make a correction the device will send you GPS coordinates every 5 min while the vehicle is moving and every 30 minutes when stopped. If GPS coordinates can not be sent then you will receive GMS and text coordinates. Also if you answer your phone in the fist ring it will not call a second time and you will receive your GPS coordinates a bit sooner
Hi, Pavlin! Indeed the device is good. Little bit complicated use, but still. What I don,'t like is necessity to use additional SIM card - i.e. monthly payment... You are absolutely right about security. I have dealt with this topic for many years and fully agree - there is no 100% security! Everything depends on the case and the owner's need. Ride safe!
I think you can use a prepaid SIM card which generates only one time costs when purchased and thereafter only when used - this makes it usable even abroad at moderate price. To keep SIM active you need to use it once in 6 month or so (guessing here).
This is a good option on the market. In the past I had an Chinese but it was to complicated on practice. This one seems to be more user friendly. Great review Pavlin.
Motorcycle Adventures yes that is one of the most important parts in my opinion of a review. You have to he able to trust the reviewer to be open and honest. I have seen so many of your videos that I have come to trust what you say. (You are one of the few I can say that about) Thank you for making your videos, it is appreciated.
Great device . Great idea . Maybe problems r things that can b fixed with software updates or future models maybe. Good honest review. I will keep watching this product for possible future purchase. Bike theft is huge here where I live. Thank you.
I think it is a good idea that will be OK in countries with good mobile phone coverage but not so good when reception is non existent like here in Australia, I can go 100 kilometres from a major city and have no coverage at all, that I think can be an issue.
paulaus I was using Australia as an example of lack of coverage more than anything, the remoteness of the country be it Russia or Mongolia is the issue, some places are fine for coverage but others not so good that is the limitation of the device.
Hey Pavlin, got the newer version, the 7 and I guess it has the same issues you had with the battery terminals. Showed dead battery in a few days and I threw them away.. Got some Duracels but I think they are not lithium, so another bike disassembly for me.. Got low battery notifications in a couple of weeks.. Really good review, thanks!
Thanks for the video, i saw it come by a few times (in the netherlands you're lately being spammed with folders for it for the past half year) but that just kind of put me off from it, but i think i might actually buy one of these now for my old bike (after figure out where i have space left on my bike haha) eitherway, thanks for the great video i hope you have some great trips in the near future!
Hello fellow Bulgarian and thanks for the review. I am considering getting a 50cc scooter and I was wondering how do people secure motorcycles. I have Viper tracking on my car and I absolutely love being able to always track it, especially if I forget where I parked LOL That device sounds like a great investment!
Another advantage of this product--they include a SIM card and offer a super cheap data plan of about 3 Euros a month. Some companies charge $25/month for data and service!
Very interesting device. But for me i think the best system is my insurance. Even if i loose my bike on a longer trip the insurence will cover theft of my bike, ofcourse as long you meet the recuirements ( for me is 2 locks, one is the keylock wich is standard and second is chainlock or brakelock). Even if you have gps device you still have to make police raport and let them work. i guess its pretty sumilair in all EU
Hi Pavlin, can you please share your experience with monimoto in Bulgaria? Does the device send notifications immediately after the bike is moved, does the coverage of the sim provider work fine?
Looks far better than the Smart Turn Smart Tracker. Sadly I bought the Smart Tracker which has never worked and worse still, the people at Smart Turn give no support or advice!!
Hi, just want to ask maybe a silly question, but do you need to pay them subscription or is it possible to put you're own sim card and use it? Im thinking about buying one but still exploring other options and by the looks of it this is the most reasonable one. Hopefully thieves in my neigberhood dont carry with them signal blocker
Excellent advice, I like the fact the Monimoto people were working with you to test and resolve issues. Helped you, helped them. Do the insurance companies recognise it as a security item to reduce your premiums ?
Then that's a huge selling point, and MiniMoto should point that out as a pluss and inform the customers of which insurance companies that gives a discount.
hello Pavlin. Everything looks fine, your test is complete and honest. There is just one thing you did'nt talk about: What to do when I received the information that my bike is somewhere in a van, going away, or somewhere in the basement of a flat, getting dismantled. Shall I call Police? Or does the MoniMoto company manage with its own forces to recover the bike? For sure I shall not face the gang by myself.. My experience with Police in France or in Poland was that they fullfill documents, they ask you to describe your bike, they ask you "did you see someone looking over your bike..." and that's it all.
so if someone were to even just pick up a smaller bike, say a grom and moved it into their truck without the motorcycle being started would it still alarm?
After careful reading of the Monimoto-website I have just one question. On the website they say you need to use Android 5 "Lollipop", because of several issues with the successor Android 6 "Marshmellow". By now I am using Android 8 "Oreo". Did you have any problems in that way? Meaning is the device compatible with this operating system? I don't want to use an outdated system for security purposes, you know? When there is no issue, then you should talk to them about updating their website. Because I understand, that you have quite a good relation with them.
I cannot reply on that question. I am just a normal user. The best way is to ask them. As I said the customer service is great. Drop them an e-mail or call.
Hello Simon, Monimoto works with all Android versions starting from Android 5.0 and later versions. However due to a bug from Android side, it will not work on Android 6.0. The bug was then solved in Android 6.0.1. If you have more questions you can contact us at support@monimoto.com
Good day do you have any idea if the system is available in Australia keep up the.good workride safe ps do you have any plans to go to NUREMBERG its my familys origin thanks
That fob distance is far my bike to my apartment is less and they try stealing it all the time this will not work for me. If fob worked 10feet that would be better
The thing has also another Big problem you always need internet on both phone and device and in some country it is very difficult. I thinking you will se going to India
Gerardo Musano True but if you're in an area where there is no phone coverage, chances are there won't be anybody else about and those that are about will be very obvious. In those places it's also most likely you will be close to your bike anyway.
Let me know if you're coming to India. I would love to show you around and host you for a few days. I ride a Multistrada 950, by the way, and have been riding various other bikes for 15 years now.
Sorry Gerardo, my reply was intended to @Motorcycle Adventures, I clicked on the Reply button against his name, but it seems you got notified. Sorry about that.
The Chinese do it better, smaller, much much much cheaper and always works. Tested. The Best protection I invented is hidden unprotected hand grenade. It falls out while disassembling and that is all. Of course you will not recover your motorcycle but it is instant justice and the hidden garage becomes visible. ;-) You can read about it in newspapers next day.
As I said I don't want to say anything bad. This device is also very well designed, but on long term test it showed some cons. Could be my fault, but it has. This is what I am talking about.
@Jason Wilson Now you are laughing at Chinese products but are you still laughing at Korean products like Samsung or LG (former Gold Star)? ... No? ... Soon you will stop laughing at Chinese products, Europe is starting to be an open-air museum.
