    I bought the original version on your recommendation 4 or 5 years ago and I still have it on one of my bikes. It’s been faultless and the battery lasted for 3 years before needing a change, I’ve since added the version 7 for my other bike and that’s a bit more compact and again works perfectly. Their support is really good as well as I found when I swapped my phone and messed up with the app, very helpful with a quick response. So, I would definitely recommend and in fact will be buying this version for a forthcoming new bike. Glad they’re supporting the channel! Good point on the key fob as well, I’ve just separated my fobs from the bike keys🤦‍♂️😂

    Hi Andy, interesting video. I have both MoniMoto and BikeTrac installed on my bike. The upsides with MoniMoto are lowing cost, zero install cost, low subscription, no battery, drain and the key fob functionality. Downside are less sensitive than the Bike trac to motorbike being disturbed rather than moved from the location, eg being lifted into a van, not recognised by insurers (my one said not) , not Thatcham accredited, no one except yourself to find it if police too busy. Lower location accuracy, If the bike was hidden in a row of garages GPS (3 to 5m accuracy) which will not allow police to obtain a search warranty, whereas BikeTrac has also RF which goes down to 1 m. Your right all have pros and cons neither perfect🤷🏻‍♂️

    Got the old one Andy, works really well.

    I have MM7 on 2 bikes over 2 years as problems with false calls while driving them. They changed out the fobs for free. No complaints on MM. I have 1 doing the same thing again, they said change out the battery. Works great. I think they need to update the app so it will tell you when the battery is low and needs to be changed. Other than that it’s a great product…….

    Have used the older Monimoto 7 for a while. Effective, inexpensive system that's very sensitive - just lifting the bike off the side stand is enough to trigger the alarm. Great "peace of mind" tracker - especially when your bike's parked on the street 👍

    I actually prefer the previous model Moni Moto with the replaceable lithium AA batteries because built-in, rechargeable batteries eventually loose performance or die, meaning the whole unit is then scrap. Also, what happens if some toe rag steels your bike whilst your Moni Moto is in the house being recharged? The old model alerted you to low battery just the same. The 2 lithium AA batteries take a few seconds to replace, meaning the tracker goes straight back on the bike and they also last about 12 months. So whilst the new one is a little smaller, I think it’s comprised.

    Nice best device ever, but 2 days ago he gone wild, alarm itself for any reason, made me going like crazy to all the city (i was with the car) trough rush hour traffic, called the police as well and when i get home, the police also arrived and ... the bike was there as well.
    The device actives itself when you take the bike from the kickstand, but it takes 1 min to receive the call. No need to move it around.

    I use Atuvos Bluetooth trackers. Cheap reliable and easier to hide as they’re very small. Great for urban/semi-urban environments. Can’t go wrong for £15 each. I have 2 fitted on each of my bikes.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have found that these only work in very heavily populated areas (no good if you're riding your bike in the country) and the update frequency is very poor - even tracking my case through heathrow airport doesn't work reliably! Monimoto is far more robust and reliable in my experience....

    0:58 Stick it on your trailer, on your...... -wife- caravan 😅
    Seems like a decent product. Might be worth doing a more in-depth review to verify things like: waterproofing, battery life (especially when active during a "theft"), location updates when the bike is on the move (5 minute update increments seem a bit long), and perhaps comparison to other products. I have a Datatool tracker and when my bike was stolen, I was on the phone with the police and was able to give them updates on its location every ~30 seconds which led to a quick recovery.

    • @alanbarnes2920

    • @kenbowlus2995
      @kenbowlus2995 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The update increment period can be shortened on both the MM7 and MM9, at the expense of battery life. Might not be a big deal if you have a place to hide the smaller 9 that is easy to get to for battery recharges, but I can't even find a place to hide the 7 that keeps the transmitter on top, let alone some place I can access without disassembling the bike when it comes time for battery replacement.

    Interested in your closing comments on why upgrade. I have the original MM2 that I know you had also. I cannot see a strong reason to upgrade as you can use your own sim card in the MM2. I bought a PAYG sim, put £10 on it 4 or 5 years ago and still have £7 in credit today!!! As long as I make a call (activate the tracker) once every 6 months, the sim remains active. i would want to test that its working every couple of months so thats no problem. I'll stick with the MM2 until it stops working, CR123A batteries are inexpensive and last a year. Seems to me like there's more in it for Monimoto on later versions than there is for consumers.

    l considered the first incarnation of this tracker but thought it to large to hide so l bought into the PAJ system instead. It doesn't have a key fob, uses adjustable Geofence and movement detect plus a very accurate tracking phone system. I purchased the Monimoto 7 and found it nearly impossible to find a place to mount it (concealed) on a Triumph Bobber. The batteries needed replacing for only six months. Please don't select the location option to extend battery life when updates are sent. I get alarm calls when riding with the key fob in my jacket pocket! The GSM signal is touchy. I sometimes get a signal loss warning when parked under a covered parking area or in a shed.

    Very nice installation and review. Unfortunately my experience is some police aren't terribly helpful on recovery in some places (Denver, Colorado) these days. When my last two motorcycles were stolen I could have given the police the names, address, and picture of the thieves and they wouldn't even take the information.

    I've got an earlier Monimoto after seeing one of your previous videos and in the App, settings you can start active tracking if the bike keys and fob were stolen together but as you suggest probably best to keep them seperate as if the fob is on the same key ring it gives the game away that a tracker is fitted somewhere on the bike, which could mean they start damaging the bike trying to find it.

    Seems like a solid product at a reasonable price point, great review. I am tempted to get one for a bit of peace of mind. The one thing that struck me however is that the automated call presumably comes from various random numbers so caller ID will not be able to determine that it's from Monimoto so it could be all too easy to ignore the call thinking it's spam. So that made me wonder, how soon after the phone call does the app give you the first notification? Of course, just being mindful of the fact that such a call may come through when out and about on the bike is a simple solution, but that could be easily forgotten or not realised in case of it being tampered with/stolen.

    It would be good to see a side by side comparison of the improvements between the 7 and 9.
    I have the 7 and it's pretty good if it's just the size. I'd just get another 7, but if the signal and tracking has improved then I'd be tempted to upgrade.
    What I notice about the 7 is that it can be a bit laggy and somtimes the location can be off by a few meters which can be a problem if you track your stolen bike back to a location and accuse the thief's neighbour and not the scumbag that's stole your pride and joy 😂

If I was aware (admitedly a long time bfore it happened but just as an ordinary member of the public) why were'nt they when they're a tech company? Hopefully they've caught up a bit.

      Not being turned off until 2033 as far as I know, so not too much of a worry at this point....

    Don't have the monimoto 9, have the previous version on my bike and although there are better ones when it comes to tracking, I still have my bike thanks to Monimoto. I was having lunch at work when I get a monimoto notification that my bike is being moved. I rushed to the bike only to find four scrotes pushing it away. Fortunately I managed to scare them away, but, where it not for monimoto alerting me, my bike would have joined the statistics of the insane amount of bike theft in Ireland

    Eventually, it will drive you nuts when moving your bike around in the garage and constantly getting alerts.
    Unless you always have the fob with you, you WILL find this out.
    Also, on ferries or at the dealers for service you will get alerts.
    I took my (similar) Datatool off my bike for this reason.
    Tip, Apple air tag, cheaper, smaller, no ongoing costs and no annoying notifications.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tip - Apple Airtags don't work very well! I bought a pack of three specifically to test as people kept mentioning them, I've found them to be very unreliable (couldn't even track my bag through Heathrow airport!!) and pretty useless if you're out in the sticks with location updates being very out of date if no one near with an apple device to report. Better than nothing I guess but not a patch on a proper device like this...

    • @Guy_Kerr
      @Guy_Kerr 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fair enough, I don't use Apple, I use Samsung smart tags (Android) and find them to work well enough.

    I bought the Monimoto 7 two months ago for my new bike. Unfortunately it doesn't fit under the plastics or seat anywhere, so I have a $150 piece of useless plastic in a cardboard box and since the box has been opened I can't exchange it for the new smaller 9.

    I had a challenge to the reason they use a fob over a mobile phone. I’m still not convinced
    One of the reasons why Monimoto uses a Bluetooth fob instead of relying solely on a mobile Bluetooth connection to a mobile phone is for enhanced security and reliability.
    Using a Bluetooth fob ensures that the connection between the device and the fob is more secure and less prone to interference or hacking attempts. The fob acts as a dedicated and secure communication channel, reducing the risk of unauthorized access or tampering with the device.
    Additionally, the Bluetooth fob allows for a more seamless and automatic connection with the Monimoto device. Once paired, the fob provides continuous and reliable communication, even when the mobile phone is out of range or turned off. This ensures that you can always stay connected to your Monimoto device, without relying solely on the mobile phone's Bluetooth connection, which can be affected by various factors like battery life or other device limitations.
    Overall, the Bluetooth fob provides an additional layer of security and reliability to the Monimoto device, enhancing its effectiveness in tracking and protecting your valuable assets.

      I had the same issue, replaced the battery in the fob and it was still the same so I thought my unit was malfunctioning.
      2 year guarantee so I contacted Moni Moto via email, replied instantly. The lass knew her stuff and said it was a fob issue and not the unit. She requested a photo of the inside of my fob so she was sending the correct one out to me, which I sent. 10 mins later notification it was on the way.
      It arrived next morning and has been trouble free since. Fantastic customer service.

    Looks pretty good, I currently use Alltrac on my bike which I think is about £100 per year renewal, however the call you get is from a human and if it goes while in the UK they will liaise with the police and guide them to it live. In europe they will give the location but not communicate with the police as a live service.
    That said, I have another bike joining the stable soon, Shhhh the missus doesn’t know yet, and this may be a good option to protect it, especially as it uses no battery connection 🤔

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I use all track on one of my vehicles, I had to as it came preinstalled with it, although it is a good system it cost me I think £120 a year and it means I have to have the vehicle constantly plugged into a battery charger has left alone. It will flatten the battery in about two days, like I say, there are pros and cons of these different types of trackers.
