Here it is 2 years later and I have just discovered Floss tubes (a bit slow on the uptake here). Thank you. This was an enormous help. I am tired to trying to find already dyed fabric for my projects. They are so expensive, too. I'm doing a gray for a snowy background and this was so helpful. Thanks. Yeah, Vodka helps!!!

Your explanation and use of the containers and how to get the mottling was perfect . Thank you for taking the time and doing all the different fabrics - absolutely wonderful. Now you can partake of the vodka : ).

Thank you so much for the tutorial! In the past couple of months I've been trying my hand at dyeing my own fabric and i've been so frustrated because i've been using the powdered dye and i've been left with red and blue spots every single time. I even would leave it to sit for like an hour in hot water thinking it would dissolve. I'm definitely going out this week and buying the liquid to try again, and hopefully the results will be much better! Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and tricks. Your fabric looks fabulous!

OMG...I totally made sure the vodka was out of screen when I started but I definitely got sloppy at the end. We buy our tequila super sized too! I don't know if want Jim helping unless there is a plan in place already to replace your counter tops!!! Good luck! Hahahah!!!
Thank you for this tutorial and deciphering the mystery of dyeing our fabric! I have been debating about tea and coffee dyeing vs rit dyeing and also using a touch of black (rit-dye) to make more vintage-looking.
I'm gonna save this video for later use. I really liked how you had the camera overhead, so we could actually "see" what you were doing! I haven't tried dying my own fabric yet, but this is gonna be helpful. Dayyuum girl ... the vodka! LMAO I don't feel so bad about the tequila bottle on top of my fridge now or the tub of frozen margarita mix in my freezer ;)
We buy our booze at Costco. It's cheap but it's Grey Goose bottled under the Kirkland brand. We used to pay $40 a bottle for Patron Silver tequila. Now we buy the Kirkland brand for $20 and it's twice the size. The store manager told us that Costco won't confirm that it is actually manufactured by Patron but it is made and shipped in the Patron plant in Mexico. And it damn good. I'm too old for cheap booze!!!

It really is as easy as it looks. I think the oranges are the funnest colors to play with. You can sprinkle a little gray, or black or purple and it will always turn out awesome!!

That fabric is kickass! I don't have yucky old farm clothes so can I wear no clothes at all for this tutorial? The two Jos at the end are my favorite. Bananas and vodka at Michelle's house...party! xo
I'm so happy!! I found your channel after screwing up a large piece of Aida cloth after a bad tutorial. I tried to mottle dye with blues after tea and coffee dyeing. It didn't take at all! (guessing the acid in the tea and coffee messed with it?) I was about to give up and just order it online for a ridiculous price when I found this. Thanks so much! I'm about to run out and buy every Rit color.

Bunching up the fabric is definitely the secret. Good luck! Make sure you show it to me on IG or on your next video!!
I just stumbled upon this tutorial today and went right out and bought some dye. I dyed 2 pieces of Aida and it turned out great for my first try!
