Tracy - thank you so much for these 2 awesome videos!! I have watched COUNTLESS videos everywhere I could find in my search for a more exact way to get the perfect flooding consistency and you and Wilton have made it so easy!! I love how you give every hint you yourself use to help us get the best results when we decorate cookies!! Let's be honest - it takes a long time to make homemade sugar cookies, cut them out, and bake them -- too much time to just ruin them when you decorate with the wrong consistency of icing!! I had not heard about drying cookies in low oven or with a fan to help them be a little shiny - can't wait to try it (cookies cooling, ready to be iced, as I type!). Thanks again Tracy!
I have also seen a dipping method where you don't have to make two separate consistencies, just one that stays on the cookie when dipped. What would be the correct consistency for that? I would prefer to do this over the flooding as I am a beginner and fewer steps and equipment is less intimidating. I am going to be applying wafer paper on top so I am not so concerned that the edges look perfect.
Depends on where you live. If you're in a Tropical/humid climate it takes a lot longer and needs help... Fans, etc., much longer than somewhere that has dryer air
This was very helpful, thank you. I do have a question; is it possible to make this by hand without a mixer, or is it only possible with an electric mixing device?
Hi, Thanks for watching! We recommend use either a stand-up mixer or a hand-held electric mixer to make this recipe as you'll be beating all ingredients for about 10 minutes.
I am trying to replace the royal icing package that comes with Disneys paint a sugar cookie kit. Grand son ate it 😐😅 I think it must be powdered merangue, never heard of it, wonder where to find it. Directions say to just add 5 teaspoon of water and 1 cup of confectioners sugar. I do like your videos, Wilton's 👍💪👏👏👏 thank you
@@what-oy7rx ha ha ha ha😂 he had enough of the powder packet down the front of him and on the floor, that I didn't think I could cover the cookies let alone use the same amount of liquid the instructions called for. My lighting quick brain (not 😂) just had to make royal icing(not the merange that came with the box) from strach. I really just wanted to add water😒😩LOL
Hi, you can store royal icing in an airtight container and keep it at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. You can read more about storing leftover icing on our blog: blog.wilton.com/how-do-you-store-leftover-icing/
@@wilton Thank you so much for your reply. But as they told this icing dries out so quickly. So when we do that on cake does not it dries out especially we keep it in refrigerator ? Please reply
Royal icing can be intimidating for sure. Though we do make a pre-made Cookie Icing that is easy to use that you might like: blog.wilton.com/cookie-icing-101/
Does icing dry hard super hard breaks ur teeth or softer ooo buttercream is the 1 that doesn't dry I had some at my store but super thick which to sugary but dry on top soft when u bite taste like sugar to me not Buttercream
Having made many batches of royal icing using your Meringue Powder, I can vouch for the ease and durability; however the taste leaves a lot to be desired. In other words, the taste is awful. The taste comes through even with extracts. Sure wish Wilton could fix this.

to decorate is it best to make the cookies a day before or same day of event (for party)
Hi Stephanie, You can make the cookies before the event to give them time to dry.
So am I able to buy the store bought Wilton Royal icing and thin it down at home to decorate sugar cookies with it?
Absolutely! 💛

Almond extract is the best for masking the odd plain taste.
Is it realy just that powder and water
What causes my royal icing, when dry, to look dull instead of shinyl?

To get rid of bubbles fast, you can use a dental lab vibrator. Works great.

I was wondering about that. I think the taste is more important than how pretty they look. Thank you.
Hi

The most important thing is how does it taste? Someone told me the red coloring has a funny taste is this true? Thank you.
Nah. All the icing basically tastes sugary
Country Girl i think that royal icing tastes really bad, but i also hate the taste of powdered sugar. it’s like thick powdered sugar
Salmonella typhi .. really bothers me. Oh gosh.
Hi Mirah, This recipe doesn't use raw egg whites. We used Meringue Powder so there's no fear of salmonella.
