Eddie Mahoney was pure class and talent. This man never offended nor was rude to anyone. Always dressed sharp and gave you something in return for your hard earned money.

@Funk Enstein true , and I had actually thought about Lemmy too. Most of today's singers can catch a cold and completely cancel half of a tour, but guys like Eddie and Lemmy wouldn't even let being near death stop them from doing what they loved

Eddie got caught up in the same vices that a lot of other musicians who taste success and then fail to maintain it get caught up in. When you're on top and selling records, no one in your management or your record label's giving you advice on saving for your retirement plan or investing your money wisely. They're all in for themselves. Then when you get into the older ages and the records your making aren't selling any more like they used to, you find yourself having to go out and struggle to still do concert tours at an older age in poorer health playing smaller venues just to make ends meet. Same thing happened to Billy Joel also in the 90's when he had to continue making records and doing tours, instead of sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying his marriage to Christie Brinkley after he discovered that his long time manager had been ripping him off. It ended up breaking up his marriage.

I first heard of Eddie Money in early 1978. The J. Geils Band was coming to town and this guy named Eddie Money was the opening act. I don't remember if we were having bad weather or what, but MAYBE 300 people showed up. Great, I thought, we'll be lucky if J. Geils and Peter Wolf, even WANT to play. But it started and Eddie Money and band came out and gave a show like they were playing before 30,000! I KNOW that The Money Man converted some fans, because I was one of them. The J.Geils Band came out, fired up, and it became a GREAT concert, and those of us who were there, left happy that we had been there!
But Eddie Money gave us a chance to see a TRUE performer, and gave that small crowd, his ALL! I, for one have, NEVER FORGOTTEN, his performance. I never had the opportunity to see Eddie Money again, but the bigger STAR that he became, I knew that he had WORKED his way up!
Hearing of his change of venue, on 9/13/19, really brought me down. Man! I NEVER thought of Eddie Money being a 70 yr old(and I STILL DON'T!!!!)

Eddie Money, for me being a black person, was one of the 1st artists to blend Rock riffs with his kind Of funky smooth R&B vocals & groves, and that’s why his music is so timeless. If you needed a love song or dance song Eddie could bring it with his own soulful style. Not many artists can cross over with Rock/R&B songs, but Eddie did it consistently. For me Eddie was one of the best to ever pick up a Mike. A True G.O.A.T . Eddie Money’s Music will live on Forever

I’m just going to say, with the overwhelming amount of positive things everyone on TH-cam and social media have to say about Eddie Money, it’s proof he was a great person. I love his music, shaped my childhood, but more than anything like Tom Petty I almost feel like I knew Eddie. He was that down to earth and just a genuine person. Rest well

Everybody who has offered a tribute to the Money Man has said what an amazing person he was and how much he honestly loved entertaining his fans. Younger people who don’t remember the early days of MTV, probably don’t realize how popular his music videos were with such hits as Shaking, Walk on Water and I Cant Go Back. Edie was the type of person who did the right thing even when he didn’t have to. He and Greg Alman are true inspirations not only for their contributions musically but for their ability to overcome so many personal demons. Thank you for your music and your compassion. Your music will be enjoyed by so many people both passed and present

Rick Ocasek and Eddie Money are in Heaven making music together forever. Classic Rock Music that will live on. No matter how old we all get. I miss my Rock and Roll heroes. Bradley Delp of Boston. Benjamin Orr and Rick Ocasek of The Cars. Eddie Money. Ronnie James Dio of the rock band Dio. And more than I can name have gone into the Heavens. But they will never be forgotten. RIP. And long live Rock and Roll. I don’t give a damn about Country Music. My heart will always be Rock and Roll. Forever.

Always in a suit. His mindset comes from a time when all musicians wore suits to play in front of an audience for it to be out of respect for the fans and showmanship for the artist. He comes from a time when music was real, he lived in a time that continued to give real music to us and we will live with his music for the rest of our lives. I was barely 10yrs old when I first heard him and now in my 50's, his music is just as alive in my wheelhouse as it always was. Rest easy Eddie and say hello to Elvis for me.
