There is a recall from BMW. They are changing out the Hayes brakes for Brembo for free. I contacted my local dealership and they set it all up for me. I have the 2019 R1250 GSA. I know it wasn't available in 2020 but now it is as of today February 2021.

I am done with BMW. My bike (r1250GS hp sport) broke (left cylinder clanking) 2020 spring and dealer refused to repair under warranty despite me having both BMW and dealer extended 5 years warranty (2019 R1250GS). Bike was sitting at dealership for 6 months, so I lost 2020 season. Then they agree to buy it back from me for 13500 euro. I lost a lot of money, but i learned a lot - BMW warranty is worthless. BMW do not care about their customers at all. They are ready to steal from you all the ways they can. They have no honor, no dignity. I used to be bmw customer for 20 years. owned R1150R Rockster, S1000RR 2012, R1200GSA 2016 (from new), S1000RR 2018 (from new), R1250GS HP Sport 2019 (from new). I could not even imagine how badly bmw has fallen in last 15 years. They refused warranty repais on bike with 2!!!! warranties (factoruy and dealer extended))!!! - that is completely out of any reasonable behavior unless it is a behavior of psychopaths or/and thieves. So beware and I can only hope that you will not let the BMW do the same to you. This is all so sad really, so freaking sad.

Thanks for the video, very useful reference. What is the size of the extra bleeder located towards the back portion of the calipers that you installed? Cheers

Order two oem bleeder screws from RIGHT caliper. Whose will fit into brembo bleeding holes (after removing plug screws).

@@SAMFICOM thanks man. Seems like the usual bleeder for Brembo calipers then. Incidentally, you know why the banjo bolt on the right side is different (longer) than the one on the left?

@@SAMFICOMmay I know the exact part number of the bleeder screws that you put on the Brembo calipers? The OEM bleeder screw on top of the banjo bolt on the right OEM brake caliper is M8x1.25mmx15mm. Bought a Stahlbus M8x1.25mmx16mm, tried to insert it and it is too long. I measured the plug and it is M8x1.25mmx14mm. Not sure what to get now, if 14mm or 15mm. Thanks. Cheers

Well i have had 11 GS and GS.a but my new GS Rallye came with Hayes and i personally think the perform just as good as Brembos sure everyone like Brembos? But in all honesty i have had no problems covered 16,000mile in 1 year, and so far all good. Its like tyres if you get it in your head about callipers you may think hey are worse. Question how many miles did you cover before deciding to change them, Maybe they needed a little longer as to pressure washing callipers thats a BAD idea IMHO the brake seals o rings are in there. But each to their own i myself find the Hayes perfectly adequate. They fit them on the RR.

BMW had a stop sale on all 1250s due to Hayes calipers leaking and a recall.. Make suer your bike isnt in that list.

  • @Tim.Traveler

BMW has recalled some of these already for issues with leaking. They should have stayed with Brembo.

Actually, it is pretty easy to understand.... (think as BMW), it is a win-win situation for them. Those brakes are CHEAPER to manufacture and they can CHARGE you more labor hours to replace the pads.
    Does it make sense now?
