Thanks for this video. I was wondering about removing autosave, which I assumed would save some amount of time at the cost of making every death a restart. Fortunately, I don't have to do that anymore, there's still so much to do outside of that. Also now that we have numbers and can see that ranged attacks are strictly faster than melee, that might put a gunslinger build back on the table, mostly for glitchless though. I can remember I did some very minor testing there, but it felt a lot slower. Maybe that's just the start though. Also, what's the speed on ranged misses? They seem a bit slower, whereas melee misses seem very similar. Even if this was a thing, it probably wouldn't matter for the route, it's just something I'm curious about.
(thanks youtube for still not showing me replies even though I specifically told you to tell me about them...) Yeah, I believe that for misses, the game waits until the projectile reaches either the left or the right end of the screen (which is, why in sonny 2 you effectively softlock if baron misses himself) so I assume that that should be slower. But the time save from shooting projectiles overall is much more significant. The main problem I see with ranged builds is that your only "good" move for mid/lategame seems to be electro bolt and that one can only be equipped twice. So you have 2 strong attacks but that's about it. This is already an issue in any% where you have those extremely stupid stat boosts because it makes gunslinger quite slow on 3-enemy-stages. Now, of course, glitchless has different rules and assassin does have a similar problem but then again, coup de grace is a thing, lol. Also, Electro bolt is really hard to combine with other skills despite its hybrid scaling because its the only skill that benefits from electro pierce - makes it really hard to find a working build. In short, having an in-depth look into a ranged build would definitely be interesting but unless we somehow find a way to combine CdG and electro bolt in the same build, I doubt that it will be faster than the current route. However, I'd gladly been proven wrong there :D
