    Todd Christensen was an underrated player. Played multiple positions, really had big numbers as a TE. Should be in the HOF. It's hard to believe he died so young. - a Browns' fan

    I was 20 years old and in the US Navy stationed at Moffett Field naval air station in the Bay Area of northern California and was watching this game on TV. I was born in Cleveland and a big Browns fan and my friend, who was from LA and a big Raiders fan, was watching the game with me and was talking crap the whole game. Those were fun times!

      I was 20 days into Navy boot camp in San Diego. First time ever seeing this game. 😂 All we had was newspaper sports page on Sunday, and mail to find out scores.

    Damn, I loved Municipal Stadium in Cleveland. It’s “ghetto” look made it so cool, as well as the baseball infield being present … in this case, you can still see the outline of the infield being later in the season when the Indians season was over

    The comment shortly after 1:26 calls attention to a rule immensely helped defenses in an era that was becoming increasingly “offensive” friendly. I am a Cowboys fan and I always said if you go back and look at how the 2 Cowboy CB’s Larry Brown and Kevin Smith played, they took *full* advantage of that rule. They were very good at looking back at the QB while absolutely *molesting* the poor receiver trying to get open behind them. A large reason the 1993 Dallas Defense allowed the fewest Yrds/Catch and swept San Francisco in the 2 meetings that year.

    If Don Rogers hadn’t died before the 1986 season, the Browns probably stop Elway’s drive and make it to the Super Bowl.

      Rogers was a really good player. Being a Raider fan, and being from L.A., I remember him in college, he was a monster.
      Too bad the coke was flowing freely through a lot of the professional sports leagues back in those days.

    In 1985 John Jefferson played in 7 games for the Browns. He totaled just 3 catches for 30 yards. Despite being only 29 years old he would not play in the NFL again after the 1985 season.

    • @sojournofred
      @sojournofred 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It was quite the flame out - he got into a couple of contract disputes, but for awhile was absolutely one if the most dynamic WR for a 4-5 year stretch. Jefferson, Lofton and Coffman was quite the trio for a few years in GB. Still surprising he couldn’t hang on for a few more years.

    • @patrick19761976ify
      @patrick19761976ify ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I never knew Lofton played for GB until I started watching some of these old games on TH-cam. He was excellent in GB

    I never understood why so many ppl thought M Wilson should’ve played over J Plunkett. Plunkett was a winner - wasn’t always pretty but he got the job done. Wilson often threw untimely INTs

    Could that part at the end where Marc Wilson waiting for the crowd to be quiet be the reason Marty Schottenheimer HATES the Raiders… that whole waiting period for the crowd to be quiet was a little excessive… I grew up in Oakland and absolutely love the Raiders but I hated Marc Wilson
