When going into a new Limited format, it's a good idea to have a grasp on what the best commons and uncommons are, since those are the cards that will make up most of your deck! In this video, I give my picks for the best commons and uncommons in Modern Horizons 3 Limited.

I always like it when you rock your Sooners gear
Ditto. Wizards of the Coast? More like Wizards of the Plains. Lol
As a staunch e wit fan, it’s important to note the eternal witness is even better than evo witness since it gets CARDS. Rebuying removal or other value spells in other formats is huge
Nizzahon was slapping people with some of the best Commons and Uncommons in draft already.
The problem with this video format is that black and red's top commons are almost always going to be removal spells...maybe those colours could get an extra permanent 'honourable mention'?
You're not wrong.
In fact I think it would be useful to separate (common and uncommon) removal entirely in this video format, going forward.
There's a couple ways to do it - having removal with its own little section, or just it's own bit within each color.
But It would maybe be a better showcase of each color if removal got its own section.
Yea so what 😂
White and Greens Top Common were also removal…
YOU CAN ALWAYS START YOUR OWN TH-cam SERIES!!!! ❤️
Black red top common is probably cranial ram if you have good artifact pieces
Am I crazy, or is the top black common in this video not removal?
@@NizzahonMagic no it was the 2/1 Flying Rat
Sooners hat are you an Okie?!! Great video recently found your channel and I’ve been learning a lot I really appreciate your expertise!
BOOMER!! (This has a different meaning in Oklahoma)
@@Giedroczyes it does!!!
Man, I'd like to hear a "Johnny fells the Godsire" saga...
Ohh Nizza...I was a fan until i saw the Sooner gear...! I begrudgingly congratulate Sooner softball. Nicely done.
Hook 'em \m/
Haha, I do still appreciate your content though! Thanks for this early vid, I can prep for prerelease on Sunday!
I really like eldrazi repurposer and it would probably be my pick for greens best common. At the same time though I think green is the best color and I can deifnitely understand why you would pick the other 3 cards because green has really deep commons. Also yeah propagator drone is super nuts, I think it's gonna be a key part of the rg deck which I think looks like the strongest deck by a pretty significant margin.
So Wither and Bloom enables absurd engines with the value-based adapt creatures. Evolution Witness naturally pulls something back on its own, but then being able to toss the extra counter on makes it into a truly ridiculous value engine. The Phyrexian Gargantua also becomes ridiculous, since it turns the card into the black Deep Analysis.
"That's what the universe wanted me to do." Love it, trying something at least once because a higher power told you to.
Yo! You gong to be getting NCAA football 25 when it comes back this year?!?
Galvanic Discharge, by itself, is basically just another Lightning Bolt.😂
My guy nizza looking like one of them OU assistant coaches! WVU gonna get yall this year 😅
We aren't playing WVU this year, we're leaving the Big 12 lawl.
@@NizzahonMagic completely forgot about the SEC change this year. Shooo. Good luck down there.
Skoa is not the first ever common legendary creature, but it is the first that is a specific color
how soon we forget Chandler and Joven
@@violetto3219 look, I’m a newer player, as in started around core 2021, I had never seen either of those before
Can i make a request to make it top 5 commons and 3 uncommons per color?
Breathe Your Last is a better Heroes Downfall, I feel like it's better than Wither, I'd have it #2 behind the MDFZ
Now which of these will see play in Pauper?
the rat looks busted
Tune the Narrative Awesome Show Great Job!
The spellgorger token being a real card token makes me hate the fact they refused to print the black lotus token cause "they don't make reall card tokens" even more
Thraben charm and utter insignificance would be, in a vacuum, surprising as top commons. Maybe it's the lack of good removal in these colors??
Regardless, I'm excited to play a synergy driven, less top heavy format, especially after OTJ.
The content output is crazy btw. We love you for it!
Nightshade dryad was integral
Imo, for the red uncommon, Ral for implicit mage will be featured in the cards you overrated, due to just how situational I think this card is going to be, plus its a little slow. Its not terrible, I'd give it a c or sideboard c+. PS. thanks for all the videos :)
He consistently overestimates Red removal by about a whole letter grade. He also consistently underestimates Black and Blue removal, especially Blue's tap and frogify effects by about the same amount.
And yes, Implicit Maze needs a mana knocked off its cost to be more than barely passible against most boards, that or the first ability needs to do 3 damage to everything.
Ral and the Implicit Maze may well be worse than I expect. Creatures might be too big, it might be too expensive and too slow.
That said, I'm curious what metric you're using to determine I over/underestimate cards. I definitely overrate and underrate things in every review, and I think you're on to something with me overrating Black removal. I noticed that too and over corrected on OTJ - where I vastly underrated the 2BB removal spell.
But I don't feel like I've ever had a trend of being vastly wrong on red removal or frogify effects. If anything, I overrated the frogify in this set!
@@NizzahonMagic Red has not had even decent removal in most sets of the last several years. The Sorcery speed the designers have loved sticking on the cards that would have been good removal in the color recently is just a killer to its efficiency because it cannot be reactive, which is when Red's removal is at its best. Also, the increasing prevalence of 1-2 drop 4 toughness creatures makes most of the removal need a 2 for 1 trade to work on the cards you actually need it to if you want to create a favorable board state. Combined these usually ending up with the Red player behind on effective mana spent and down a card at the same time. Red's whole package the last few years has been underwhelming at best in limited and usually basically unplayable largely because of this set of play patterns. It is no different this set.
A lot of people misuse Blue removal in general and the on-field semi-removal specifically, lowering its apparent effectiveness in the metrics. They think they can just sit on these on field effects, you can't anymore. You have to use them aggressively in combination with cheap evasive creatures, Utter Insignificance and Amphibian Downpour are no exceptions. Wilds of Eldraine was the most recent really good example, the Blue in that set was a highly aggressive color because of the prevalence of that kind of on-field removal rather than bounce and people did not initially know how to handle it. The days of us all sitting back with a Storm Crow and a Wind Drake bouncing and tapping everything in Blue are long gone. If you are going for a late game Control/Combo deck type, especially in Limited, there really is nothing left available to allow it consistently except board wipes in any format.
@@matthewkeeling886 Red removal (especially two damage deal 3s) have some of the highest win rates for commons in virtually every format over the last couple of years. You might feel like the removal isn't good, but the data disagrees.
@@NizzahonMagic Careful about assuming correlation means causation. Red, overall, has been frequently underpowered recently meaning people leave it open more often than other colors. That causes one of two things to happen: a single person gets most of the Red and creates a nearly monocolor deck or the Red removal is picked as a supplement to the heavily fought over removal in people's primary colors. That allows Red's removal specifically to be heavily used as a splash supplementary to the primary color removal. Thus, a lot of decks that otherwise are not interested in Red end up using it in small quantities and artificially inflate the win rates for those cards specifically.
Wait... No Metastic Evangel??????????? The card is absolutely insane for a incommon, even for a rare.
It's definitely good, but I think there are a few White uncommons that are better. Will be interesting to see what the data says in about a week.
Breathe Your Last's art is pretty unfortunate.
Lawn-o-war elves? Lol
