And being in that arena hearing Quickshot shout: "Malmö! What. Is. Your. REGIOOON!?" Followed by the spartan-like chanting of "EU! EU! EU!" Brother I got goosebumps. If they ever do that now, the crowd will chant EU! EU! EU!, not EMEA. So they don't engage the audience in that way. Good branding captures the unspoken emotions people feel towards something, and molds it to an image. And in EU, I think those emotions have alwyas been the dream of the hope of the west, the dream that EU *could* be the best region in the world, that EU *could* win worlds. And that is reinforced by 2 things. The actual chance of it happening, and the regionalism/underdogism that people feel. Where the fuck is that gone? What is the LEC branding now? Like, genuine question.
7:58 iirc it does work the way Monte describes in LEC - so each team has a costreamer slot (so fnc having cardrel can't add another one and there exist unused slots), but riot decided they have to approve those costreamers (cos ofc they did). and from what Dom said on the topic he got denied 3 times and alluded that the he was approached by teams, and with his last deny the team was so big that if it got denied basically he knew riot would just always deny (so basically 99% it was G2 he just can't say cos NDA or w/e). So it was Riot "call" not a teams' call that Dom didn't become what caedrel is for fnc, it got blocked by Riot. Which sadly isn't surprising in the slightest.

Several People have confirmed that G2 take their scrims very seriously, how come the other teams and especially FNC look as shit as they do? That's exactly what happened the last year of the IEM World Championship where both the #1, 2 Korean teams and the qualified NA teams pulled out. The tournament lost its value. 2. That's one of the reasons Rift Rivals failed. Why would I as a team compete in a meaningless tournament that offers next to $0 in prize money, and doesn't help qualify me for Worlds? It was a complete waste of time. Teams and players hated it. At least with the old IEM World Championship the prize money used to be nice, and the practice and competition was worth while. Up until it wasn't anymore. Sorry to the Flash Wolves when they won, the tourney was nothing.
Been watching this show for years before I ever played league and I'd likely quit/slow down if there was no esports side to it anymore. Same thing happened with Blizzard's HoTS for me.
I like how Viper has his own segment this time around. Even as someone who dislikes the Viper glazing, he totally earned it with how clean his Ezreal was. This was streaming while HLE was playing against KDF and he literally was the main attraction in that series as well. I think the next time T1 plays against HLE, they'll probably avoid giving Viper the Ezreal and maybe we'll either see how Viper can carry on a different champ or T1 fix their mistakes from the previous series. I love my man Guma but we're still waiting for a series where he's the main character on a T1 set up.

One idea to tackle contract jails/ players like Selfmade just collecting money while not playing. If an Org has a player that was part of their starting roster not play for a certain amount of time, that player then HAS to become a free agent. That way orgs are incentivised to sell players quicker or they don't get a buyout and the player will have to look for a different team because he won't get paid once that time is over. Maybe this will lead to some weird other incentives but it might be a way to tackle the LECs problem with talent not being used and players just sitting around.
