    It's good to see home garage restoration most restorations seems to take place at large units with unlimited supply of tools and massive amounts of cash it just shows it can be done at home on a budget it shows it can be done I'm sure it will look amazing when finished 👊👍

    great idea with the multi tool.. I need to take the underseal off my Z3 wheel arches and never thought of using my multi tool !

    Going through the same process at the moment, i am quite jealous of your rear spring hubs - mine are completly rotted away.

    That multitool scraper thing is genius, thanks for sharing that mate. Far better than wire wheeling for hours. Looks like a brilliant job, she'll be factory fresh by the time you're done, keep going!

    Greetins from Finland, I have same job to do.. I have same year model Fiat 127 than I am to fix.. That underseal remove makes more gray hair, but your video shows that everything is easy if you want it to be..
    I am gonna do my 127 project with 1,4 16v supercharget.

      @@steveguest8028 around half way through it currently, haven’t had time to go full bore for a while. That will change in the summer! Not been filming the underside repairs though

    Insane amount of work and a great job, little sugestion, maybe try using a heat gun or propane torch to heat up the undercoat to remove it easier.

      Thanks! I was aiming to keep away from using heat due to creating sticky residue, luckily the sunnier days helped warm it enough for it to come off easily without making a mess!

    Good job. Good option is to use epoxy primer for maritime. It has resistance against Salt and impacts

      Glad I used it then! Once all underside work is completed, i plan to go over again with the primer before seam sealer and undercoat

    Gdybym miał tak karosserie przygotowane do prac to bym piaskowal drobnym szkłem..ja tak właśnie robię bo jestem w trakcie tego samego projektu. Piaskowanie a na to chemia.Gdzie spawac to spawac . Niewolno zostawiać rdzy. Bo robota na próżno.Mozna to porównać z zebami u dentysty. Albo robimy dobrze albo wcale

    Jeez respect to you on this very brave and very skilled. Surely as it looks like a patchwork quilt of previous no doubt dodgy repairs would it not just be better to get a better shell to start with? Good luck 👍

      Thanks! Luckily there are only 2 previous patches which are quick to sort. I wish I didn’t even start the whole thing! But it’s my car, so it’ll get what it needs, eventually.. haha!

      Painting the primer on is a great idea.Way less hassle then spraying.

      @@michealoconnor4233 would highly recommend doing it, other good reasons are for getting into hard to reach areas and really cramming it into the seams!

      @@BadE30 one thing that struck me, doesnt mechanically wireweeling take away the zinc on the metal?

      @@becomematrix it shouldn’t have a zinc coating on the underside, only on the hardware which has been removed and is all getting zinc plated itself. Everything got primered within a day or too of removal so no way of corrosion getting onto it!

    First of all, great job and thanks for the video. Second of all, im thinking of building a roll over jig. How did u mount in in the rear kf thr ca sisnce one off the holes lands in the schasis rail?

      I used both front and rear bumper mounts, with the rear of mine they are each side of the chassis rails! No issue with it interfering

    Very helpful video thanks, please tell me, are all e30s meant to have front frame rails (chassis legs) that slightly bow outwards at the ends, or are they meant to be dead straight.

    Wouldn't it have been more convenient to send the shell at a sandblasting facility? You did an insane amount of grinding with a wire wheel. Good job

      I mainly used the oscillating scraper to take the bulk off, then wire wheeled the last few bits. I didn’t go with blasting as it may not look it but the body paint was only months old from when the car came off the road, as i never planned to take the resto this far! So i need to keep it isolated, also I enjoy doing things myself!

      Unfortunately i did not film this process as it was all by eye and no method about it. Kind of just fell into place with what i had spare. It’s a simple enough design of equilateral triangle structure with a 1m high fulcrum! The rest was made to fit

      thanks, it is an epoxy primer! Filler will not have the rust preventative qualities compared to the epoxy

    Which seamsealer / undercoat will you use to seal it up?

      This may change but the current plan is UPOL grey stripe seam sealer, a spray coating of CE Chem underseal and finally the colour coat

      Communication and consideration! I have spoke with my closest neighbours to plan around when I can do the work, I got home at 3pm, them 5pm, so that was the time I worked on it! Only way to keep everyone happy

    Great work but why didn’t you get it acid dipped. No know it’s a bit expensive but the labour you would have saved. I’ve just brought a E24 635csi which need work but I don’t think I could go as far as your going. I wish you all the luck my friend 😊

      The body paint work may look grubby, but it was literally done just before i took it off the road. Very backwards i know, didn’t mean to take it off the road! So i want to keep the upper bits as is

    heating it up with a blow torch first or hot air gun it scrapes of a lot easier

      It does yes, but using the multitool helps alleviate that problem as it does the work for you! Keeps everything clean too

      I built it myself! Known as a rotisserie.
      There are options out there to purchase but I decided to make my own to suit me

      That’s the 2k epoxy primer, Mipa EP-Grundierfiller.
      It was recommended by a friend who does this kind of work often!

      This is just to get it protected during my underside resto with all the rust repairs i am doing. Once completed it’ll get another coat of the epoxy primer, seal sealer and underseal!

    5:30 where did you get the idea that you had to 'wire wheel ' the rust converter off?

      This was something I was told to do by my friend who does this for a living, said it was to aid paint adhesion. The reaction has took place in 24hrs and is not required anymore

    Looking good, massive amount of work there, and looking good, what are your long term plans? doing the same on mine, check out the Chanel 330 fam, was the multi tool better than a heat gun/scraper etc, Iv not posted much on mine as a long term just a few repairs, keep up the good work 💪🏼🇬🇧

      Thanks man! I prefered the multi tool process as it is much cleaner than with a heat gun as the underseal just peels off rather than melts off. The whole job went very well, I recommend to do it in the summer as the underseal is much softer, I learnt this right at the end of the task..

      Dipping a car can bring a lot of other issues if not cleaned correctly! I wanted to do it myself, so this was the best option. I built the jig to do all this too

      For me, no. I like to do stuff myself, also wanted to keep the body paint work as it was recently done before I took it off the road (was not the plan originally)
