Amen, Amon, Amun (etc) indeed means hidden one.
Ra is a confusing name, because it is also a title (just like Horus is a title and a name).
Ra as a title means King of the Gods.
Horus as a title means King of the Earth.
As a name/title, the grandfather god is Ra in the Old Kingdom.
However, in the New Kingdom, the god Horus (son of Osiris), became known as the hidden one and new King of the Gods, so they called him (and his following) "Amen Ra"
