- AFter seeing a local presentation of Kandor and Ebb's Broadway musical, Cabaret today, I felt the need to work in my own studio, which recently had become a nemesis. It was cramped and closterphobic. So as I drove home from the play I planned in my head what I was going to do to make it more appealing. In the process I discovered both tweeters in my NS-10m studio monitors were blown. No wonder I couldn't hear any cymbals. BOTH at the same time. It took about an hour to trouble shoot the problem, because I used four speakers to monitor. After making more space for the user, I decided to fire up Bubba's Rhodes. It is SO different than the 1978 in the den I recorded on yesterday. A lesson in keyboard history. This is a Mark l, and I fully restored it. It took the most time of any of my five Rhodes. I designed this small bedroom to function as a studio pulling up the 60 year old carpet and installing mineral tile on the ceiling with a sore back. The acoustics are GREAT, so first I record this rig with close mike condensers. Then I decided to use a different X/Y pair to mike it from the other side of the room like the den yesterday. This is the X/Y pair across the room. Because you have two separate cabinets that are producing phase, putting the mikes further back pick up that modulation and mix the close mikes won't capture. I didn't play much inspired, but just enough to get more familiar with this Rhodes.
Замечательно красиво👍
Lovely. Well done. I seem to recall you said you graduated from UNC. Go heels!
Yes. I have been wearing my 1985 class ring since. Never take it off. Thanks for your interest.
