Yeah brilliant prevision... It's just like every sport cars in the world.

@@longbar2344 They already are😂

Gotta love an ep3 and a 182
I owned a factory standard 04 plate ep3 for years and loved it, recently I borrowed a tuned 182 from rs tuning and it was an fantastic car. I fell for it big. That said I would take the honda.. The engine is just fantastic and it in my view is an overall better car. I know the debate will go on and on but let's be honest here. It don't matter which one you own.....just enjoy it before the government force us all into one litre eco shopping trolleys
Having owned a RB 182 since 2017 that’s mint and only on 72K to buying a EP3 Type R this weekend, the Clio feels like a toy in comparison, standard the 182 handles better, but the engine in box are far better in the Civic and make it feel like a real drivers car.
I drove a turbo'd 182.. The car was unreal.. 0 - 80mph felt like 5 second car.
I'm between these two.. I hear the worst about civic's steering feel.. Everybody says is numb af, can't find any kind of upgrade.. Any help?
@@jstllucky post 2004 had better steering from what I recall but I personally never felt the steering lacked feel. As I previously said, I loved the 182 but would have a civic type r over any 182.
Reliability + Performance = Hot Hatch 👍🔥
Hot + Hatch = Hot Hatch
The formula can't be true because then the clio wouldn't be a hot hatch 😛 (had a 172 and loved it to bits though)
Buy 'em now, before they rocket in price.
The 'expensive' £16K Honda Type-R ..oh how prices have gone up on modern cars! New Type-R is double the price now.
And now triple, just a year after the original comment. What a world.
I remember watching this before I bought my first (of 3) Clio 172/182s.
Honda all the way, faster, brilliant gearbox, great handling, magnificent engine.
The clio will eat its gearbox at some point or its engine will explode.
The 182s get a bad rep just for being French, they're actually surprisingly reliable if you buy a good one and do the maintenance.
That french bashing sucks... I mean you Brits don't have an automobile industry anymore...
Honda engine amazing, so is Clio though. Doubt Clio will rust as much as Honda though.
Love the Clio, has a real chuckable character and you don’t need to be going at licence loosing speeds to get you grinning from ear to ear....I miss my Clio 182 Trophy...
What number was your Trophy? I have one now but have never been able to trace the original owners.
@@mrc7966 I owned 218 for 6 years. Sold it in 2014. Still have old videos of it on my channel.
Owned them both. Day to day, much preferred the Clio. On track.... yeah I preferred the Clio again! Civic was good on track, much better than it was on the road as a daily.
Interested to know why you prefer the Cilo.
I've got one now had it for almost 6 years and I'm tempted to sell it for an Ep3 just out of curiosity and to compare.
So down sides of the Civic?
@@simongb7897 The EP3 has so little torque, I found it actually irritating on a day to day basis. The Clio was no torque monster but so much easier to drive for me. All personal choice but I'd have another 182, I wouldn't get another EP3 unless it was maybe a dedicated track car
@@mikep2168 Ok so that's surprising that the Ep3 doesn't have as much torque I suppose it's how it delivers it. Doesn't sound like I'm missing out on much then.
I know its said that low down revs the type R offers very little.
So only real plus is reliability I suppose.
@@simongb7897 yeah to even make satisfactory progress you have to work too hard, got a bit tired of of tbh. Each to their own though! Might be perfect for someone else.
I was looking to buy a ep3 type r but I couldn’t resist when I saw a Clio 172 Phase 1 in my local area so I got that instead. I couldn’t be happier so I hope I’m not missing out on much other than (maybe) the build quality.
Clio 182 is the best for the track, but for use daily I’d take the EP3 with that amazing K20 👍
Best why? Because is slower ?
@@MrPeteRR299 The Clio 182 is more track focused out of the box with a better chassis. It takes less modifications to both race and track a Clio 172/182 in comparison to a EP3 Civic Type R. They’re also much cheaper to buy and have less rust issues. There is a reason why the Clio’s are the most popular track car within the UK. Don’t get me wrong I love EP3’s apart from the awful rust issues and the vague steering feel, the motor and gearbox is great and you gain much better power from modifications on the K20 motor. If you could combine the two you’d have the Renault chassis with the Honda engine and gearbox 👍
@@niallevans4008 i dont understand how the clio chassis is better if it loses stock vs stock to an ep3.
Maybe clio is more popular because as you said is cheaper and lighter.
@@niallevans4008 some people do put k20s in the Clios, it's an epic combination.
@@MrPeteRR299 in one test on a TV programme, it doesn't mean anything. They cost about the same now, and the Clio is the most popular because it is the best, and not just this generation of it either. You see mk2 and mk3 Clios at every trackday.
Love my 02 ep3 102k
When Type R is looking sprty yet subtle. Now it looks like monster😢
I've got an ep3 but wow I love the new ones
Yeah the fk8 type r is so over styled especially on the rear.
I have always been a JDM man and always owned Evo's or STi's but there is an itch there for a Type R...
The Vtec itch becomes ridiculously contagious even after those higher powered cars.
Do it man!
Take both down a UK back road and you’ll realise why Renault went with the setup they did. The Honda is too stiff and jittery and is left skipping around in places the Clio just grips and goes.
When i heard the master testers voice I clicked the thumps up button B4 I ever started watching the video in case I forgotten,
Ep3 >>>>
Yeah, Porsche Boxster was slow from the factory I remember back in the day reading 0-60 in 7.2 and thinking: this must be a mistake, but it was not
Good point. I recall many saying that Porsche executives would never allow the Mid-engine Porsche Boxster beat or undercut the flagship Rear-engine Porsche 911, so they deliberately left a lot of performance off the table.
This eventually lead to many comparisons from other convertibles like the similarly lightweight Honda S2000. Mercedes SLK, BMW Z3/Z4, and Nissan 350Z on the other hand competed more on straight line acceleration than handling.
Man when you could get an awesome hot hatch for £14,000 brand new
Got a clio now want a Type R but so pricey now.
Love to compare.
I'm literally in the market for a FN2 (cheaper than ep3) or a Clio 182. I just want something I can enjoy and maybe cam/turbo/supercharge in years to come
My friend has FN2, it's an AMAZING car, go with FN2, you won't regret it. Of course, if possible, try both clio and fn2 before buying
get clio 197
i love this channel
If you learn how to drive an EP3 Type R properly you can beat more powerful stuff quite easily. Getting the power down all the time is just like riding a 2 stroke bike so you really need to know where the power band is and be good on the gear change but apart from that, you point the steering wheel which way you want to go and floor it. In my opinion it's one of the best front wheel drive chassis ever. Honda made this such a fun and very drivable car.
Would be interesting to no what track they were on and what the new generation hot hatches are doing on the track
Anglesey Circuit
Last type R i would buy, before the spoiler hype
Type R every day of the week
What about a 2010 fn2 ?
Honder all the way!
Why wouldn't everyone pick the Civic?
cheaper, much less rust, lighter
Clio 182 everyday of the week. They are a hoot to drive loved mine 172 . Most enjoyable car to drive
Honda is infinitely more reliable. Did Renault ever fix the Fuego Turbos imported to USA as they were always catching fire during test drives.
T Ford’s always broke down 2 100 years ago. Bit bullshit to compare a 2004 clio agianst a 1981 fuego you dipsh1t . Further if they are so unrelaible why most hot hatches on tracks here in Europe are Renault?
Have you owned either? The 182s are very good cars as long as they've been maintained. The EP3s are suffering a lot more with rust these days and it'll cost far more than a gearbox rebuild on a Clio if you haven't changed the gearbox oil.
Have they actually ever given away cars?
Love the numberplate ... BYE
Always honda , never Renault!
Hondas are best end of
At 0:55 "...superb...", I think not. Any car that lifts a wheel in a flat corner, is 25% of flipping over...we see it all the time. Vehicles that are as tall as they are wide wind up rolling ALL THE TIME. I did it myself, rolled a 1974 Capri...not my 70 Mustang, not my 65 Galaxie, not even my 75 F-150...narrow upright foreign origin cars roll.
Lol. Were the foreign origin cars too fast for you? Just wondering...considering most non-American performance cars would corner better than the cars you listed.
The Renault seems so tacky compared to the Civic.
Limited edition Gordini had those strips, i also hate them as well as those base wheels. But their colour palette is great (even Titanium Silver and Black Gold are very unique once the sun hits them) and the optional speedline turini wheels look great. I was choosing between the two and settled on the Clio RS because Mrs hated the plasticky interior of the Honda with all the red bits. Would still loce an ep3 though :)
Wow
I am the first person
Of course Honda civic....
