i have a pigeon pet and i don’t have a cage or container for her but she always hangs outside my house near the forest but always comes back to my house at night to sleep
It's called "imprinting." The chick see's his face first when it comes out of the shell, therefore the chick thinks he is the parent. A man did an experiment back in the 60's or 70's and sure enough, the chicks followed him everywhere...they were ducks or geese. Look it up, very interesting. :)
I had a hedge sparrow I named Jiro and raised after he had fallen out of his nest and I couldn't put him back, and I kid you not, he had the exact same cage! He was my best buddy for the two and a half years he lived with me in my room. I loved waking up to find him sitting on my pillow or hand... or he'd stomp all over me and peck at the blankets to force me to wake up, he did that too. His cage was right next to my desk and unlike Pete here, Jiro wanted to bathe every day. And if there wasn't enough water in his bath because I hadn't refilled it yet, he'd literally splash water my way with his wings and give me this look, until I refilled it and he'd be so happy. Jiro also had a fascination with keyboards for some reason. He always chased my fingers while I was typing, so eventually I got another old keyboard and put it on top of my chinchilla cage, and it became one of his favorite places to sit on. He also had a favorite spot on the shelf above my PC where he'd often sit, all poofed up and watch me work before bedtime. The cage was always open but he knew that that was his sleep to sleep in - though of course he did have his stubborn moments where he didn't want to go to sleep and I did, and I would have to catch him. Jiro escaped at some point - and I still don't know HOW he managed that - and I really thought I'd never see him again, until six or so weeks later when I was enjoying a cup of coffee in the backyard, and suddenly this little familiar looking brown bird showed up all excited and squeaking in a very familiar way, following me around - and if you don't know hedge sparrows, they're very flighty birds, you don't see them often and if you do it's usually a quick brown blur under the bushes. Nothing like normal sparrows you see everywhere. Jiro lived in our backyard for 3 years or so, I even saw him with another one at some point. I didn't see him that often anymore, but when I did it was usually when I was about to leave for work, and he'd follow me around as I grabbed my bike and took it out front. I haven't seen him in years though, and I miss him a lot. He was such an intelligent little bird and so much fun to have around, even when he lived outside. I've never had that strong a connection with any animal before (and working with animals is my job) so I feel pretty blessed I got to have this with Jiro. He was the best
You are so lucky. I love love love common house sparrows. Most people hate them here in U.S.A. Maybe that's why I love them. I'm always for the underdog. Or under"bird." I would give almost anything just to have one eat from my hand. Well, at least you have that memory and you saved his life. God bless. :)
I have a super smart cat named Oreo. He somehow taught himself to open doors and screen and when I tag him on the head and run away he chases me. Jiro reminds me of him. My cat's a rescue like Jiro.

A Chick Called Albert Yeah you are not alone . We are identical in this matter. I have been a father of countless baby birds (that needed rescue only) . It is just a sweet thing.
I once saw a blue bird in my backyard. It was strange for THAT type of bird to get into my backyard, since it was the "pet" type. I got outside, as soon as it saw me it tried to fly to me to kinda ask for help. I was scared and ran since I though it would attack me -such a looser- . Though I went outside again and grabbed it. His wing was chopped off and he couldn't fly very well. I kept him for 3-4 months. I bought him food and a cage. The cage was very fancy actually. When I saw him flying in his cage, I decided it was time to let Blue go. I opened the door of the cage and it happily flew off. Im glad I was able to help this little bird and didn't end up in bad hands :D
What's also wonderful is that you are introducing the younger generation to real music.....melodic, joyful and lively....which instantly puts one into a happy mood!
This video reminded me of my parakeets last few hours. He had taken a bath, and sat in my hands as he dried. Soon he had lied himself down and slowly left. To hold him as he died left me happy for his life, not sad about his death. I’m sure you feel the same way about your animals :)
My peach face used to like it when you'd run the tap in the sink on low flow, and he'd stand under it and prune his feathers and stick his face up into the water till he sneezed like crazy. He'd then wait for us to pick him up so he could prune and dry off on our shoulders. Your videos are making me miss him more and more but they're so cute I can't stop watching lol!

My local squirrel uses one of the flowerpots (which only has soil in it, mr squirrel killed the plant) for dust baths. He scoots around it like a looney.
I find it so amazing how u completely tamed a wild bird! It is way easier to tame other animals but never with birds. It trust and likes u so much that even outside it listens to ur command

I love this! My mom and I used to be that house in the neighborhood where everyone brought the little birds that fell out of the nest or had a broken wing. You just brought back so many good memories!

I've had a little bird once. She couldn't fly, a cat ate one of her wings and she saved herself. I don't know how. Then I thinked: "Maybe I can take herself home... She will be fine there." Then, I left to a birthday. My grandma checked her and she was fine. Until I came back from the birthday. I found her in the nest I left her, but something wasn't right. She was completely quiet, she didn't try to fly like always. As soon as I picked her, I knew it. "Grandma, I think she's..." "Yes..." said my grandma. I left, crying. Now I hope she's okay up there.
I miss my baby bird, Paul recently died last yr, I saved him from getting killed by his mother, and 1 week later he was finally showing a little bit of feathers, but my 3 yr old brother came in my room while I was asleep, and got into my makeup and tried to feed my makeup to Paul!! Till this day forward, if I ever get a chance to save another baby anything, I will (NEVER WITH MY LIFE!!) guard him/her with like my life!!😢😭
