Just a cool detail about liberos! The name comes from the Italian adjective "libero", which literally means "free" and can also be translated as unconstrained, unrestricted and independent
dope.
As an italian player I just assumed this was a common knowledge (apparently not hahah) but it comes from the fact he's "libero" (free, unrestricted..) by the substitution rules because he can enter the back side of court basically at any given moment

@@vivekagupta the dub is hilarious. I think it was localized extremely well. You’ll always have those purists though. I had been excited to see someone react to the dub for once, but alas! As long as coach is having a good time watching though idc.

Noya is surprisingly humble for such a (publicly acknowledged genius) brilliant, confident player. That just makes him more likable. :)
18:30 yes, I've felt that way many times. It would happen over and over during tryouts and practice- I would do my absolute best by diving and rolling to keep the balls up, and then my team would just say "eh, don't bother covering, it's just practice".
Pissed me off a lot, but at least they tried in actual games.

This episode is the one that hooked me on this show. I absolutely love when getting over an internal struggle ends up being the key for that character to mature and overcome a plot obstacle. Love that with all my heart.

If you're only watching the anime for the action, i'd just watch compilations on youtube. A major part of what makes this anime great is the development of players, things that each player feels given the position they play. Just gotta dive into the story to fully enjoy the series.
Oh I enjoy the character development too, it just with back to back character heavy shows I was worried I wouldn’t have a lot to speak on for you all! Like to make sure I’m giving some value too beyond just watching.
When you mentioned liberos having bruises in their early years it flashed me back to when I was bowling regularly and I'd always get a blister or sore fingers as my hands grew and as I pushed harder. Yeah not really the same thing, but its just what I was reminded of.
Robert, I feel you! I actually bowled 5-pin through highschool bc I worked at an alley! I get the blisters/calluses struggles! That and the damage I did to my hand/arm from dunking.

Also, the sub is fantastic, of course, but Coach Ukai yelling “chop chop, man bun!” at Asahi in the English dub is still amazing to me.
It’s pretty strongly implied, I think, that Asahi has issues with anxiety. As someone with an anxiety disorder, I definitely recognize some of his self-destructive behaviors as things I’ve had to overcome/deal with, myself. He’s such a great character, honestly.
He is not a ninja, he is the "Guardian Deity of Karasuno". This is one of my favorite episodes in Season 1, this gets the team together.

The more you watch the series the more actual gameplay you'll see, first half of season 1 is very much an establishment of emotional ties, relationships, motivation etc.
Maybe you could try 2 episodes a video? Better than 1 a week

Hi I doubt you will see this but I am very much in Hinatas position of I have no one to train with, I want to play volleyball but I live in the uk and no one has the same passion as me for volleyball they don’t even have a court or a team at my school/collage any advice on what I could do or how I could train alone
Depending on how old are you you could either move to another country or city or just try really hard to find people nearby that are interested on it. Internet makes that easier since you could find online forums, discords, reddits or social accounts related to volleyball that might help you find people to do so

Both the dub and the sub are good, but imo the sub reflects more how Japanese people actually behave, so I personally like that he's reacting to the sub. The dub version still works for me, but it's more exaggerated in its tones and "Americanised" (if that makes any sense), as the humour is different and the way that they portray relationships among characters is different
Nah I love kuroko but I dont think he will enjoy it because it is not “that” realistic. But dont get me wrong, it is still a good show for me 😉

This is not a spoiler but if you watch Haikyuu and realize that Coach Ukai’s voice changed because the old Voice Actor sadly died so they had to get a new one i’m just saying this cause you might get confused when you’re in that episode which I don’t remember 😶
