To everybody who is going to be in the premiere. DONT YOU DARE SPOIL A THING FOR COACH. Coach Donny recently got spoiled during an premiere so please don't. Thank you.
@@mura_saki yeah, but it's still better than what Coach Donny did by accident with his reaction to ep 8. He reacted to S4 ep 8 without realising it... And what sounded strange to him was that the ad commercials were different, "Where did the water bottle go?" or something like that😂😂
Nishinoya is a very honest and straight forward character. No hidden meaning to what he says or sarcasm. Hes blunt and to the point with everything he says so his personality just comes off as over the top compared to the rest of the team. And Ace is this shows term for the best hitter, or the guy who can get a good hit in no matter how broken the play may be or in the gotta have it situation
Just for future reference, "ace" isn't really a personal nickname. Its more of a title that belongs to the most reliable hitter usually the left hitter.
Hey Coach, just FYI there is a Japanese cultural joke in this episode that I thought I should explain. When Coach Takeda is talking about the blond cigarette smoking guy in the shop with Daichi, the show suddenly cut to the blond sneezing. This is referring to the Japanese superstition that if you randomly sneeze out of the blue, it means someone, somewhere, is talking about you. The reason I bring it up is, this trope will be used many times in this show so if you're wondering in the future what the deal is with all the sneezing, now you know.
I think this is my sixth? Haikyuu rewatch over the years and I still can't get over how good season 1 is. Especially these episodes with Nishinoya and Asahi are so wholesome! Btw - I can't believe Tsukki literally had one line in this episode and you still found a way to be mean about him, hahahaha.
Ace isn't just a nickname in this case, coach. It's an informal position. Basically the middle/left spiker that can most consistently score given a set. Definitely a position Hinata looks up to. Each team you'll see in the show has an "ace"
It’s so funny that I knew exactly who you meant when I read the names 😂 I guess we all here seeing volleyball player react how relatable Haikyuu is to their volleyball life huh
The character development is awesome in Haikyuu. Both mentally and physically, as well as their bonds and motivations. And not only the protagonists but even the rival teams, coaches and other secondary characters. Such an excellent work always amaze me even though I've seen the show more than 10 times. As a writer I've learned a lot from this.
I read the line about Tanaka and didn't absorb the fact that you mentioned KIRISHIMA lmao... Kirishima, Tetsutetsu, Tanaka and Yamamoto are the same person haha.
Same! I also watch Victoria Garrick's reactions which she releases on Tuesdays and she's an episode behind Coach Ty. So I watch that in the afternoon and the next episode in the evening. Not gonna complain if we start getting two episodes a week with Coach though! :)
I do like the gameplay episodes as well but actually I really really love all the character building & emotional moments of the show the most. Especially this arc with Nishinoya & Asahi is actually my favorite arc of the whole of Season 1. The emotional impact of it really hits hard.
You didn’t pause it that much, but your small joke reactions are hilarious. More than one episode per week would be better ofc ! Only because the competition games are sooooooo great but they come later in the season.
I know I commented twice but hear me out... That kageyama glare at 23:29 screams * yep hes right he cant do it without me, yep.. Im the reason(in a somehow proud way) *
The 'hi' in Asahi's name is the same as the one in Hinata. It means 'sun', 'day', or 'fire'. Asahi's name means 'sunrise' while Nishinoya's first name - Yuu - means 'evening'. Their naming shows their symbolic contrast (similar to how Hinata and Tsukishima's names have 'sun' and 'moon' in them, respectively.)
Others might have said this but there is a trope used in anime a lot where if a character randomly sneezes it's because someone is talking about them. This show does that a lot.
I like this new format. I can still see the anime and the subtitles, following along with you much easier! Thanks, Coach!! I laughed at the funny song intro too xD Niice

I think that one of the coolest and most amazing things about Haikyuu is how it appeals to volleyball players and volleyball noobs alike, and how it also inspires many people to play who might never have played the sport without having seen it. I think that is a pretty incredible achievement!
This is the third reaction video I've watched to this episode and everyone says basically the same thing when they see Asahi. "He's like a grown man." Well, he IS a third-year student, so... but yeah. XD
Ya know The Sneeze that we often see is something or Myth that some people believe, Like if you just sneeze randomly (Like nothing really is triggering you to sneeze) , people believe that means someone is talking about you (secretly). It's funny how people with real knowledge and volleyball experience aren't as impressed by "Rolling Thunder!" I was completely blown away by how cool it was when I first saw it, even if it isn't anything that special. More than that, I like Noya's passion! :)
In the English version right after Noya jumps on Kyoko Hinata calls him a “horny tornado” it one of my favorite lines and I’m sad that it’s not the real transition form the Japanese version

I played libero for about a year and a half, because I was 4'7-8 at the time and thats where the coach thought I would do well. Receiving scared the hell out of me, and I dreaded it so much, even if I was somewhat decent at it. Being short doesn't automatically mean thats the position you should turn too. Now Ive been a setter for almost two years, and even if I physically cant dump and can veeery rarely tip, Im a lot better at it, and a ton happier than I was before :D. Still 5'1 tho ;)
Just wanna say in the dub after kyoko slaps noya, hinata says "he's like a horny tornado" instead. The dub has really cringe va's but sometimes it gives gold like that line

You want to be at the Battle of the Garbage Dump? Yes, yes you do! It took me awhile to notice it, but you see it a lot in anime, and I know it happens more in haikyuu so you'll probably notice it too. it's a small detail but interesting and i think it's a cultural thing lol.
