They do this thing with the net often so we cpuld get a clear view of the faces its mostly unnoticeable
In fact it’s so unnoticeable that it’s taken Coach Ty this many episodes to realize that it’s been done this whole time.
Yeah. It's kinda like how, if you were really standing that close to someone with the net between you, you wouldn't really notice the net because you'd be looking past it at their face. They try to create that illusion and give us a better view at the same time. It's cool!

@@jumpguyty in ships involving Hinata, 'hina' is ussally at the end of the ship name. Also while kagehina is the main ship for both of the characters, I wanna point out Hinata has a ship with basically every named character you'll meet, and 3p ships with alot of the other main (and even some 'rare') ships.
Also yama is used for yamaguchi ships (he hasn't had much focus yet, but Tsuki's friend, the only non starter first year)

Y'all gotta stop defending tsukishima at this point in the story. Obviously we have the benefit of hindsight but this early he's strictly an unlikable character, that's the point.

Yeah.... it’s kinda the point to not like him at first.... that’s what they’re going for. I get that he gets character development, but that’s intentionally later on. Tsukki’s character growth is meant to be a slow process of him improving his game and his outlook, and slowly beginning to love volleyball. It wouldn’t make sense for him to start off already with a positive outlook; he needs to be well established in his negative viewpoint in the beginning to really make his character arc shine. Everything he does throughout pretty much all of season one is intentionally reflecting that viewpoint. This results in mean, aloof tsukishima, who looks down on those who are truly passionate. His words and actions cannot and should not be defended. Later on, they get explained, and we can sympathize with him, but that’s *later on.*
So all this to say: yeah, tsukki’s not great in the beginning, and that’s kinda what makes him a well written and interesting character later on. However, from a writing standpoint, he’s meant to be viewed negatively for now. People need to stop defending his actions at this point. Coach is viewing him exactly how he’s meant to be portrayed in the story right now. Just let him watch the show; he’ll get to tsukki’s arc eventually. Like the op said, those of us who’ve seen the show have the benefit of hindsight, but this is Coach’s first time watching; let him watch the story unfold over time.
(I tried to keep this spoiler free-unless the fact that he gets a character arc at all is a spoiler-just in case, so I’m sorry if it’s a bit vague. If you’ve seen haikyuu before, you’ll hopefully know what I’m talking about here)
It's not only in Haikyuu fanbase. It happens in others too. It's bound to happen if you have a story with grey characters, like Theon in GOT, Reiner in AOT and Snape in HP.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
I don't know why but every time I watch Hinata hit that spike, I cry. Like I can't even understand my own emotions but something about Hinata's expression on his face as he's spiking like he realizes his own worth and Kageyama's words, "As long as I'm around, you are the greatest" just absolutely move me to tears every time.
It is currently 2:15 AM and I'm deliberately ignoring the fact I have classes like 6 hours from now 😗

I think when tsukki said it was hinata's fault that he get hit in the face because he should have been focusing on the match, he was actually speaking the truth.

I know this is hard to believe, but every single season gets better than the last!! Seasons 3&4 have some really nice technique incorporated, but this whole story builds on the progression from being a good show to a GREAT show. Can't wait to see your reactions to even more :D

5:22「うっかり見入っちゃったぞ(Ukkari mi-icchatta zo)！」was translated to "I couldn't help but watch", but the verb "Mi-iru" is a little more than plain old "Miru"=to watch or look. "Mi-iru" is more like "to get caught up & made to stare" or "gaze closely". So basically, he was saying he was stunned. The subs you are using are often not very accurate & that causes most of the "off" dialogues.
Next three episodes are among the best this season

Kageyama is pretty honest. What he said to Hinata is right. He isn't an all rounded player nor a player that can add much to the team without Kageyama in the court (since it's only Kageyama who can take maximum advantage about Hinata's speed). Despite being true this can also motivate Hinata to realize how dependable of Kageyama is to grow to the point he is able to add as much as possible to the team even without him. This is a point of inflexion for Hinata imo and it leads to one of the best (if not the plain best) character developments of this show.

I noticed that the subtitles are off in a lot of places but oh well. Like here (10:30) for example, Hinata is saying "Must be nice" instead of "I wish". At 6:05, it's actually more "weirdo" than "deviants". I think it's fine though.

18:05 well it would be a pain for animators to always draw with the net in front of the character faces and i guess making putting a net over the characters digitally would be too noticable or something so this is a good middle ground
I hope he also gets into kuroko's basketball. just to see if he can name which NBA players each character is loosely based off of. though exaggerated. there is a mix of techniques in there that they make look realistic I later found out was real.

Lanky ass Malfoy character will get his due in season 2 and in season 3 he gets one of the hypest moments in the whole series that just gives me chills everytime I watch.
I honestly wouldn't mind him reacting to the dub since its not a bad dub for one and two as far as I know he's not a veteran anime sub watcher. It'd probably be easier to react if its dubbed, at the very least I forsee him laughing his ass off at it.

the face through the net thing is just a stylistic choice to better show their face and expressions, it's a little weird but you get used to it.

I know tsukishima always says something in a mean and teasing way but most of the time he’s just saying how he sees it. Just like kageyama said they both agreed hinata was at fault for spacing out during game. It’s not like kageyama said it in a more positive manner either.
@@DWargs of course the coach is allowed to dislike him or point out his snobbish comments. I only pointed out a part which I thought was kinda hypocritical where two characters said the same thing but he responded differently. (Which I can understand)

I mean the difference is at this point in time we understand that Kageyama is just kind of dumb about communication. Tsukishima on the other hand is well aware of the effect he has and tends to use it maliciously.
So yeah, post character arc I love him, but that doesn't really excuse him being kind of an ass w/o context specifically because he's ware of how it sounds w/o context
@@Tenshi6Tantou6Rei yes he’s being an ass to kageyama more specifically (because he really dislikes his king like controlling behavior) and a bit to hinata aswell because their personality type clashes and he’s always with kageyama. Stuff like this happens all time where people just won’t be able to get along until we can either understand them better or accept them as who they are. As for post character arc , in my opinion none of them change really personality wise. I wouldn’t call them friends either now in S4 atleast and might never be. They are just teammates that have eventually come to accept one another. I find it cool that Karasuno has such a dynamic team. It’s not necessary to be all buddy buddy to make a great team.
Also I know some people still dislike tsuki after the post character arc. Which is fine since they are entitled to their opinions.
Another thing I want to acknowledge is that I may have came off rude to to the coach which was not my intention. I realIy felt bad after I read his post about him having a tough time and I realized my comment wasn’t really necessary. Still the coach responded nicely.
It may sound like an excuse but... before I took it in stride before when he said how much he hated him. But when he trash talked tsukishima when he said it was hinata fault but said facts to when kageyama said it just rubbed me wrong? In my opinion he wasn’t being very trashy like he usually is to hinata. So it felt to me like an overreaction... which led me to want to comment, and I tried not to overtype my thoughts and be so dramatic about it...
Still I may just caused him unnecessary stress and would like to apologize for it... although I don’t think he will see this.... I also ended up typing too long.
