    In 2007 the evo 9 SE was released. Although technically not a new car but I guess that was Mitsu’s way to refresh the 9
    I own a 9 RS and love it. I daily drive it and it has been extremely fun. Honestly if I could afford another car project I would probably go for the 8 since it’s cheaper but I contemplate a X MR as a new daily.

      Truthfully I have only locked up the brakes once. It was still on stock pads and rotors due to an idiot who decided to slam on their brakes. It stayed pretty straight with no real issue. Now I run Stop Tech sport pads and slotted rotors and it’s pretty good other the the occasional pad material transfer which makes it feel like I have warped rotors lol

    Let me open with this- you are obviously super educated about these cars and you taught me a ton of stuff I didnt know. I liked the video and subbed. One thing I entirely disagree with is you saying that you shouldn't pay cash for a car. You cant think of any reasons why anyone would want to? What about not having to worry about car payments every month or losing money on interest? Or just being in debt in general? Personally I believe the only thing it's acceptable to make payments on is a house. American culture is all about instant gratification. How many people have car payments or have a ridiculous amount of credit cards, etc etc is a perfect indication of that. And that's coming from an American. Work, save, have no debt, and pay cash for your stuff. You'll be a whole lot more successful monetarily. Again, all that being said, fantastic video. I watched the whole thing. I'd love to hear your argument for making payments.

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      my interest rate was 3%... the average return is 6-8%. So by paying cash and "saving interest" it would have actually COST 3-5%

    Had brand new 03 Evo 8. Brand new Evo 8 RS. RS was fully build. And also had used modded 2008 X. Which was a pain in the ass! Best way is to start fresh, with low miles. Evo 8 and 9 is more raw. The X is more luxury and can be fast, but making serious power and easier to work on is the 8,9 for example turbo location. I'm still thinking to buy another X but with super low miles and fully stock. It's harder to find the 9. And I'd like to see one in person. Btw. 2008 Evo and below had stickers on each panel , that way you know it's never been hit. Hood. Fenders. Doors. Rear trunk. Fenders. Yet evos are pretty cheap to modify and to fast compared to other cars out there. Including fixing them. Great video btw. Cheers

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    what different between EVO9 MR and EVO9 GSR?

  • @ix-badsport-xix7433
    @ix-badsport-xix7433 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    So if I want a Evo that looks like an MR which what I mean by that is having the vortex generators and that stuff I should just buy it after market and install it on a GSR? Another question I heard that the MR’s hood an fenders are lighter because they have different metals, would this make a difference from the gsr or the se Evo 9? Right now there’s a Evo 9 mr that’s selling for 32,999 and it’s bone stock except for a exhaust and it has a Europe break light on the rear bumper. It has only 36,000 miles and it’s dark grey from the factory. It’s in Illinois and I live in. California. Like I said the only reason why I want an mr of because of the lighter hood and fenders, the boost gauges that came stock with the MR and the bbs wheels. I’m barley gonna turn 16 this November and I’m hoping of buying one when I graduate in 2020. I hope you can clear this up and if the MR for 32,999 I listed is worth it or not or should I get a SE for the 5 speed transmission

    Holy shit, these Evos are so cheap Stateside. Over here in Kenya, a stock 10 from 2008/9 will cost you around $22,000+ while 8's and 9's run between $18,000 and $35,000. Funny how things are more expensive in poorer countries, while financing is more expensive and incomes are lower. That said, we're lucky as we get JDM units and some UK FQs for import. As a road car you certainly don’t need either. Though, if we’re being honest an Evo AS A ROAD CAR isn’t needed. We want Evos and all the tech they bring. That said,having owned an Evo 8 and X at the same time, I say you’d be hard pressed to notice any difference under any type of remotely sane driving. So really it’s how often will you track and how competitively. Keeping in mind it’s more that can break as the cars age.

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      I feel your pain. I drove about 16 hrs round trip to get mine when flights were cancelled due to snow. Assuming it's not a Mitsu dealer I would have a PPI (Pre-Purchase Inspection) done. This will be at your cost but the dealer will help you coordinate with the closest Mitsu dealer. It's prob going to cost you a 2-3 hundred but well worth it. This will check for any evidence of wrecks, tire and brake life, engine strength etc. Other than this you chan check bolts around intake and turbo for signs of removal if it's supposed to be stock. PPI will check VINs but never hurts to look yourself and make sure they all match.
      If it's an Evo 8 or 9 it's likely to have syncro issues. Drive under throttle and shift 4-5 quickly and it will grind. It's nothing you need to worry about as they all do it; however, use it to negotiate about 800-1k off for a trans rebuild. The trans won't fail on you because of it; it's just annoying.
      Lastly, I high suggest you fly to see car. Otherwise, your going to be exhausted when looking/signing paper work and that can cause you miss obvious issues or be taken advantage of during negotiations.
      Let me know how it goes!

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The selling dealer will need to drive or likely have flat-bedded to Mitsu dealer. You will obviously have to pay for this. Depending on the dealer they may help you arrange all this or you may have to do yourself. If you have to do it on your own call Mitsu and they can pick up car for a fee. You will still need to coordinate with selling dealer. Typically, selling dealer will help you coordinate all of this.

    Also don't forget that the Evo 8
    MR has a higher top speed and will actually go over 175 mph stock. I did that in my RR 2005 RS. The Evo 9 and Evo X will be limited to 155 despite having more torque. There were only 300 Evo 8 RS for the States. 150 Evo 9 RS for the States due to only one model year. Also there were only 1000 Evo 8 MR and 1500 Evo 9 MR for the States. The Evo X was better at handling but it was slower than the Evo 9 due to weight. I've owned a 8rs, 8mr, 10gsr and now the proud owner of a 9mr!

      Personally I say the Evo 4/5/6 are the best evos, you mostly see 8/9 because that was what the US got. 4/5/6 has the same engines as the 7/8/9 although the 9 has Mivec.
      The older evos are lighter and have the same engine. Basically if you want a fast fun car go 4/5/6... if you want more of a daily driver go 8/9 (has better interior)

      Hey thanks! To answer your question it can be tough to know if it’s a good deal. Did he do the mods himself or did he have a reputable shop with receipts? If it was a shop I’d assume it’s somewhere in Europe so you’d need to research them. Also, making big HP can be done cheaply if they cut corners; and is it a dynojet or mustang dyno?
      Alternatively, how long you going to be in Germany? There’s so many cool cars in Europe we don’t get in the US, older Evo models for example, that you could buy and enjoy during your time and just sell when you leave.

    Im looking at a 2005 evo 8 gsr with bolt on 100k miles for 12.5k sound like a good deal? Rebuilt trans and case.

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just depends. Honestly, it seems kinda low for a good car which makes me think there are problems. Also, why was the trans and such rebuilt? Idk seems odd

    I own a 2005 Evo 8 MR in 2018. Just bought it a few months ago actually.
    Best fkn car ive owed ! Im making 460hp with basic bolt ons an a good tune.

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep! Super easy to mod. Unfortunately, that’s what causes a lot of issues for people who mess them up. Enjoy it!!

    • @streetmusicfortheblockreco8580
      @streetmusicfortheblockreco8580 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I see most people adding stuff without tuning them an blowing them up, or launching them an blowing the t case. But overall if you do it right an drive it respectively, the car is a beast an will last. !!

      Hey guys im about to pick up an 8 or 9 .... but the prices are all over the price .... can you point me to an evo forum and also great work✊️

    • @streetmusicfortheblockreco8580
      @streetmusicfortheblockreco8580 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I picked mine up for 18k, 103k miles, one owner an only had a greddy exhaust. Find one thats not too modded an youll be good.
      8 or 9 is a good choice, just stay away from the 6 speed trans or swap it to a 5 speed like I did. Also evolutionm.net.. Follow me on IG @punchlinejswaps

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Evom is a good forum. The prices vary for many reasons. A lot of them have very visible issues if you know what to look for. Also, the 05 differs a lot from the 04 and 03. Lastly, the ixs hold higher value

    Nice video ! Here in Canada we never had previous evo's, I had 5 evo x gsr and MR now I am in the market for a evo IX MR that have been import, very rare here... what do you think of the evo 9 vs evo x ? Thanks

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've talked about this in a video and basically boils down to people are crazy to buy an Evo IX.... mostly. You've owned a bunch and obviously love them so if you are going to pay a fortune to import you may as well import the one you want! You could be one of the few who actually should buy a IX.

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Evo X for sure. Safer, more reliable (newer), more standard equipment. Than you for being a fan! Mostly though, thanks for not buying a crossover, just because you have kids!

    Can you do a video about the Evo 7 GTA, nobody has covered much on the GTA and they are far more affordable than a manual EVO 7 and above, I'm planning on buying a GTA because it's cheap and in my budget and I will put a Evo 9 body kit on it so it looks clean

    Looking into buying a Evo X. Cannot decide between GSR or MR. MR is getting lots of bad rep because of the transmission AND if I buy a GSR, I would need to learn a manual. Any thoughts?

    • @willsanders187
      @willsanders187  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My X video will be live tonight or tomorrow morning but my opinion is I loved the MR transmission and would have no problem owning another. I think it’s still a good idea to learn a manual though!

      I just picked up a "GSR" evo, we call it a cj lancer here in australia. I test drove the dual clutch Evo and was bored out of my mind. Manual hands down mate!
