    Awesome video, I bought my evo 5 years ago, a 2006 evo 9 MR with the SE appearance package, im the second owner and at the time it had 43k miles and i picked it up for $19,500. The previous owner needed money asap for his wife’s surgery, so i got a really good deal

    Completely agree with you on price points, I got my Evo 9 just about 4 year ago now. The Evo was my first big purchase so I really wanted to see it, drive it and check it out. I was even gonna go so far as to take a flight to see the car, then ship it back. But I got lucky one night a GG Evo 9 with only 23,000 miles popped up online. The guy wanted 32,000 for the car but I saved and saved for months so I had a huge down-payment I saw the car it was in amazing condition and I knew it was the one. Went to a credit union applied for the loan and took the car home the following week.

    I bought my current 2006 Evo IX SE almost exactly 6 years ago in 2016 from a Buick dealership for $19k. It had 112k miles at the time with less than 10k miles on a full long block engine build w/some mild head upgrades done by my guys up at English Racing (I was familiar with them already from my DSM days prior). The guys at the dealership honestly just didn't know what they had and I think were just eager to get rid of a car they didn't want to deal with, hence the low price. This was my 2nd Evo, the first being another 2006 IX that I purchased with 60k miles for around 20k, which I had unfortunately wrecked. The current Evo is now sitting at 500 WHP with a full ETS turbo kit (6062 Precision BB) and has 148k miles. Watching the prices in general lately and seeing this very well put together video (shout out to Miguel on this one) I am eternally grateful I was able to grab my Evo when I did. Prices really have gone crazy, but having driven DSM/Evos for more than 15 years now and never really falling out of love them, I totally get it. They are absolutely worth the hype!!!

    2003 Evo 8. Bought it from the original owner in 2020 durring the “pandemic”. 70 year old man, retired from work in 2019 then car sat in the garage.
    Got it for 9k cash. 150k miles, full service records since 2004, all the way down to weekly fuel receipts for work mileage payout . Zero accidents, all original paint, glass and vin tags on all body panels, including engine. One of those cars you never sell 💪🏽

    Very well done video Miguel. I’m probably an OG. I purchased my 2003 GSR brand new for $30,995. In another year this will be 20 years of ownership. I was just recently in the Georgia Mountains and there really is no other car capable of attacking those roads like an Evo. Just finished the timing belt and new clutch and brakes. If anyone is searching for an Evo this is definitely the time to buy now before prices eventually increase again. One again… great video and information.

    For me, around I think it was $28k CAD for a JDM 9 Wagon, not including shipping/transport costs. Part of my decision in buying it was actually your buyer's guide, so I knew what I was supposed to look for and ask about while I was searching for one, and I nailed a pretty good one (grade 4/B). I think you're pretty right on the money (heh, puns) with your assumptions of the prices of these. I've been seeing them consistently on the rise over in Japan, though they have gotten pretty stagnant in recent months, so I'm really expecting within 5 years it will be hard to not turn out a profit on one of these.

    I bought my 2014 evo x with 56k miles 3 years ago for 24k from private seller. Got a loan for it at the time and have 10k left to pay off. Currently at 64k Miles. I feel like I could’ve waited a bit or maybe picked up something with lower mileage but being 19 at the time it had to be reasonable with my budget/monthly payment wise. I did see a 2015 final edition with 23k miles that I wanted but I couldn’t justify spending 32k +tax at the time and paying 500-800$ a month with insurance especially since I lived alone and paid 1k in rent already. Turned 22 this year and just recently picked up a 90 eclipse GST. Sold my 91 crx and also bought a 90 ef sedan for cheap. I’ve owned 2 crx’s (90-91) an 89 240sx a 2010 civic si the newly acquired 90 eclipse gst and the evo x has been there since the beginning. Haven’t sold it, it had a place in my heart when my uncle got his in 2015. He upgraded to a turbo kit and all that and made around 600 on the stock block with cams springs and retainers. And took me for a ride in it before I ever got my license. It was The rowdiest thing I had ever felt and I wanted one.

    My Evo 7 is driving me nuts.
    When winter comes and I hit the brakes light to medium pressure driving in the city it makes some grinding / donkey noise on the back and the car sort of shakes like it was applying and releasing brake pressure and even the car lights blink with the vibration and I dont know WTF is wrong with it.
    Autoshop said rear diff is bad but I dont see how it relates to lights or why in the summer it doesnt happen even once.
    Anybody have any ideas?

    The Evo is actually a lot faster than the

    Around 8 years ago I imported an Evo V for 12k Canadian. 1.5 years ago I got an Evo 7 for 18k Canadian, it was R grade but 80k km and no rust, few paint issues. This is the best way to find a cheaper Evo when you're importing, don't be scared of R grade. Just ensure the accident was minimal. Get em while you can, most important thing is no rust! These will all go up in value.

    Bought an evo 9 rs this year (2022) for $17.8k with 177k. clean title with maintenance records, car looked well cared for but does have a couple of pretty nasty dents that need fixed. replaced an axle seal and is due for a timing belt now. car has some mods and i have it running flex fuel now. I was lucky enough to catch this seller the day he posted it and had the cash available to buy that day or i would have missed it. car was sold in castlerock colorado.

    I've been eyeing a CT9A for awhile. Honestly was my go to in middle school Gran Turismo. When I git the cash to buy something like it I bought a GR STi only because there was only one Evolution IX in my area and it had no engine but I needed a car being a Florida guy in Washington now first time snow driver. I remember the days these cars used to be $17,500 pricing. Got the STi for $22,500 in 2019. 2023 just seems weird for cars now. Until recently I didn't know there were so few Evolutions made compared to STis however. Still have my eye out for a IX... or maybe date someone with one xD. Thanks for the post and the break down!

    love a good Evo and that is any of them from the Evo 3s all the way to the 9s love that the engine I picked up in japan came out of a Evo3 for my eagle talon TSI it came with way more power then the USDM motors and the compression ratio is even higher then ours were so it can make way more power stock then what our dsm's do and now that i built the engine with the same amount of compression and added all the go fast goodies its become a beast.

This same car could go for about $15 to $17k these days. With a rebuilt and strengthened auto box it's an easy $20k car, fun drag strip car if the box upgraded correctly.

    Very interesting info. But one must remember 40% of the money in circulation today was printed over the past 3 years. So prices are also going up due to inflation.
    But you're right. It's a good car to own where you won't really lose any money on it.

      Yes. Plus mass immigration increasing demand for used vehicles, and crappy build quality (due to regulations, mostly) making good used cars less affordable.
      Let's just hope we can retain access to petrol...

    Got my Evo 8 GSR with 116k miles for $1k lol. Clean title, no rust. The circumstances were pretty wild, and I couldn't believe the deal my friend made me. Car needs some work and is missing the turbo, intercooler, injectors, fuel pump, and a bunch of other engine bolt ons, but the exterior and interior are mint. Obviously, this is a stupid rare deal, so I hope people don't get their hopes up lol. I sold my built Evo 8 SSL back in 2019 and regretted it. Now I have this silver GSR, and I'm never letting it go lol.

    I was extremely lucky enough to buy this 2003 evo 8 that was local in my town for only 17,500 USD in 2021 after selling my 500whp sti lol. It had 105k miles and also was a clean title. It was an older gent that was trying to sell the car to apparently get a tesla for his business, the cars paint was also really bad everything was sundamaged to hell but interior and engine was all stock 100% and in A1 condition. My dad and I spent probably close to 50 something hours sanding and repainting this car and swapping out old trim piece things to make it look tip top and restore it basically. Now I get offers from random people on IG willing to pay 30k for it!! I am also leaving this as stock engine wise just for the sake of value and just only gonna do suspension and exhaust mods lol. Miguel u put me on evos and so did all my friends lmao, everyone I know has something mitsu and i was the only dude with a subie hahah

Its clean title no rust and my baby. Note too evo guys, in my opinion built motors are a curse for these cars. keep them full bolt ons. Ive had so many issues since building mine

    I live in Charlotte NC, where can I buy a Mitsubishi Evo?

  • @jayryia
    @jayryia ปีที่แล้ว +2

    99% of the evos we have in Trinidad and Tobago are all imported from Japan. The others being the one or two that local dealer sold at the time (with no warranty BTW). Now it's even harder to find a good condition one that hasn't been power modded to the core or lightly abused (because you can't just have an EVO and not rough it up sometimes). Here parts compared to states side is about x11 or x12 the USD price and inflation already had our cars selling for high prices. I bought my 7 in 2008 for about 23K USD... and now those prices are much higher. Eventually these cars in good condition will rival the desire of the Lancia Delta Intergale EVO series cars as well. BTW Lancer register also has a definitive Buyers guide as well to check on that you can download.

    • @jayryia
      @jayryia ปีที่แล้ว

      My biggest gripe with Mitsubishi is the fact they are discontinuing parts so much. Something like a power steering pump EXCLUSIVE to the 789 they discontinued, Roof strips, and other little things. Mitsubishi doesn't seem to care that the car has importance... more as just another stock gone past. I really hope they consider heritage programs.

    • @MiguelDsm
      @MiguelDsm  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The only thing we can hope for is for companies to step up and offer aftermarket replacements. The Evo has always had a strong support system, so I doubt discontinued parts will be an issue compared to the other mitsu platforms
