I say these cars are fun and great to drive when they work. But these cars are all timed bombs. No matter how careful you drive or often you change your sst oil they are bound to break its just a matter of time. The sst is just poorly built.

Back in 2006 I bought my Evo IX MR with all the added SE features and was on cloud nine. It was my dream car from the F&F movies, Initial D, Forza, you name it. I brought it home, jumped on EvoM, and was immediately told I was stupid. The 6 speed was a ticking time bomb and it wasn't a matter of IF it would break, but when. ---soo it's 18 years and 120k miles later, and I'm still waiting. I want to thank John Shepherd of Shep Transmissions for being honest with a dumb 25 year old. I asked him back in 2007 how much for a 5 speed swap, and even though he could have easily made a sale from a dumb kid with a credit card, he didn't. He asked what I would be doing with the car, and then told me to just relax and enjoy it. And again, for 18 years I've been doing just that.

The Evo 4 - 7 had a 3 stage AYC these had 3 different levels of wheel speed 8 and 9 had a system with a clutch on each side that slowed down the inside wheel. The Evo 10 had SAYC had a more advances system. The US Evo's didn't come out with AYC until the 10 as the earlier models used the space where the AYC/ACD pump sits for emission crap. They had a ACD but the pump was mounted up front.

I have an X GSR, the AYC is unspeakably awesome on twisty snowy roads, Scandinavian flicks are as easy as rolling your wrist. When it conked out, I noticed it, big time.

What i really want, is a video of an usdm evo 8 vs jdm 8 and see hoe much faster they are and like if it actually makes thst much difference, i have an 8 and X and yes the X is substantially more controllable around corners but its also a totally different car all together. So idk 🤷🏻‍♂️

Focus st was the best choice unless you have $3,000 dollars every time the shitty getman SST automatic transmission needs to be rebuilt.There are alot of focus st out there with over 200,000 miles with original engine and manual transmission.

Evo 8 vs Evo 9.. I have Evo 9 and I feel like Evo 8 owners will say it’s exactly the same car… Evo 271 vs 286 mivec.. front bumper, nicer seats, bigger stock turbo,headlights and taillights. Evo 9 will hold more value always. It’s truly last year that year was made and only the 9” are just made in 2006.

6 speed was meant to Daily Drive. 5 speed was meant to be the racing transmission. 5 speed hold power more hence, rally sport (RS).
