    14:20 Lawyer here. Sheriff (or sheriff's deputy) saying they can't do anything if they didn't see it (the assault and battery) is complete nonsense. Think about it, are crimes investigable only if witnessed by police officers? Would they say the same thing about a burglary? A murder? An armed robbery? 17:50 Glad to hear the online response is overwhelmingly positive for the ref.

    • @christiangauthier727
      @christiangauthier727 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah. It doesn't take a Lawyer to have our Bullshit-O-Meter Explode when hearing this absolutely ludicrous Statement!
      I mean... Anyone with a somewhat half-working Brain 🧠 will still be able to immediately see the *HUGE* flaw in the Officers' Logic _(or total lack thereof)_ here!
      But I still always appreciate the Input from a Professional; a Lawyer in this Case.
      Thanks a lot man!

    • @zod5966
      @zod5966 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Are you really a lawyer? This incident (in NY at least) would only qualify as a Harassment. Not an "assault and battery" because there was no injury. Which is a violation, not a crime and must therefore be in the presence of a law enforcement officer for arrest. Otherwise its a turnover arrest that must be made by the victim. I can't speak to the law in Carolina but that appears to be the situation that the Deputy explained. However I agree that the Sheriff's Deputy should have made greater effort for the turnover arrest while the guy was in town.

      @tragedician 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +44

      @@zod5966 Yes, I am. New York law differs from most jurisdictions concerning assault and battery. NY in fact doesn't technically have a battery law because it conflates battery with assault. North Carolina (where this incident occurred) follows the common law definitions of assault and battery. Also, injury to the victim is not an element of either charge in a simple assault and battery in North Carolina and most other jurisdictions.

    As a youth coach for over 15 years, the reason most youth quit sports is twofold: their misguided parents, and their misguided coaches. Youth sports are supposed to be about providing a safe and fun environment first, life lessons second, and athletic skills third. Kids play sports to be with their friends and enjoy what they are doing. Shame on the parents who need to live vicariously through their children, and shame on the "win-at-all-costs" coaches. These two factors are also why finding youth sports referees is becoming nearly impossible.

You just KNOW he's taught his son to fake being poked in the eye, hold someone's ankle in a way that could seriously injure the other person, etc. Considering the wife defrauded the government during COVID, it's absolutely not a jump to say these are terrible people. My first thought when I saw this was who in their right mind would attack a wrestling ref because that's a fight you're gonna lose. Basically anyone that involved in wrestling has serious experience wrestling and they are absolutely no joke. How can we prevent these types of incidents? You have to do what this ref is doing and go through the full legal process to get him some sort of punishment, maybe then parents know they can't get away with this stuff anymore

  • @lhkraut
    @lhkraut 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +41

    This is a good man. You have no right to put your hands on someone else, especially blindsiding him. The ref. did the right thing. He didn't escalate, he stayed calm, and he pressed charges.
    The person I feel most sorry for is the son. Parents are supposed to teach their children how to act properly, and his parents are teaching him to be a bully. Since this incident has gone viral, it will be even harder on their son. He will be ridiculed for something he has no control over.
    This man probably needs some anger management, and as was pointed out in the video, he probably needs to lay off of the steroids.
    Sadly this family had a run in with their hair salon and covid relief funds.

Ref had to yell at the kid to get him to release and it appears was letting him know to stop immediately any time the ref blows the whistle. And this pissed dad off because?? toxic parents and coaches are a huge problem in all sports. a few years back there was an incident at a tournament, where my purple belt student was reffing, and 7 year old student had a match with a kid from another local gym at the intermediate level. the kid from the other local gym won 14-10, but the opposing coach thought he should have won 14-8 and was upset about two points scored that should not have been. it literally had ZERO effect on the outcome SMH. in the middle of the match the coach said something and the ref (my student) brushed him off and said to wait until the match is over. at the end of the match there was 2 people holding back the opposing coach from trying to fight the ref (my student) because he was so infuriated. the parents were all horrified. this was the last time i took an organized kids team to a tournament. i prefer to keep my program isolated and issue free, its a shame though.

      Well, we can only hope that the Kid won't suffer the consequences from his Royal Douche of a Father having a access of 'Roids Rage!
      I wouldn't be surprised if the Kid won't get penalized _(more than having been DQ'ed by leaving)_ because as the Ref said, when Events of a similar nature do occur, they're very careful to distinguish between the Parents' or Coach's Behaviour and the Kid's, and to never have a Kid suffer from other people's Actions/Foul Words.
      So, at least in this Tournament, I'm pretty confident that in the Future, the Kid will be allowed to Compete. His Dad will definitely have trouble getting in, at the very least! His mom too, to a lesser extent.
      And as for other Events held elsewhere, it all depends on whether this Viral Story got to their ears or not, and if so, if they're going to use good judgment and allow the Kid to Compete, unless he develops an Attitude Problem, since it seems to run in the family, and that the Apple *RARELY* falls off far from the Tree!

    There needs to be a coaches only section for one coach per participant. The rest need to be in the spectators section. All coaches should have a briefing on the rules and code of conduct for the coaches. If a parent is acting as a coach then they need to be in this briefing. If the coach doesn't attend the briefing then that kid doesn't participate. The coaches or parent coach needs to be held accountable for how they act and also know that consequences come with inappropriate actions. If the coach breaks the rules they get kicked right in the balls.

    However, it could be helpful to write up a simple disclaimer statement of some type, which would outline what conduct is expected of people as spectators, what is not allowed, and give them a well - worded, kindly warning of potential for prosecution if anyone assaults a participant or other spectators or any officials in attendance.

    The last wrestling dad we've seen on the channel launched the other kid, not the ref, it's an improvement 😄

    I feel so sorry for that kid. Not only an abusive father, his the mother was no better. Thanks for a great video and capping it off with video of the arrest!

    Typical children in adult bodies. These poor excuses of parents are going to try and bully the wrong people one of these days.

    This gentleman handled the situation extremely well. Considering what the dad had done. I hope the kids and parents learn a valuable lesson from this. My hat off to you sir….

    That guy needs to talk to his doctor about lowering his gender affirming therapy doses. It seems like he might not be able to handle his current regimen.
    Hope the kid ends up alright though. Usually the coaches can be looked up to as alternative role models.

    Honestly this teaches those kids a fantastic lesson, which is sometimes a bad call goes against you and sometimes it will be in your favor... but you've got to always maintain sportsmanship and grace to be a truly great competitor.

      Tried to Search thoroughly for this Word and I came up empty!

    Since I doubt the wrestler would fake an eye poke, it makes sense that the dreads-which you can see whipping around during the match-struck his eye. Rule makers need to discuss whether that hair-potentially a danger to both grapplers’ eyes-should be permitted.

      @KJKP it appears he took a shot to the nose from the other wrestler’s head, as he attempted to sprawl. I would assume he was wiping his eyes, as when the nose takes that type of impact, the eyes tend to water quite a bit

      The kid was just a pansy. He got hit with a head butt and started looking to Mommy and Daddy to save him.
