This is beautiful and back when Oregon was a true, undiscovered paradise. It seems like up until about 2010, nobody cared that this place even existed but now, we're facing an invasion.

Reflect on Tom McCall and his efforts with our beautiful coast.

I don't want to go back to much in the era depicted here, but McCall's beach access law is a legacy that apparently can't be replicated in modern times. After living in Oregon for thirty years I can't believe that private citizens can own the land down below the low-tide line and (in freshwater) below low river level. Barbaric otherwise.
I am spoiled by Oregon, never want to live anywhere else. Of course, other states could enact similar laws, but they won't.

Great. But probably 1940's judging by the cars. No 1950's cars in sight. Very nostalgic. I know most of those places.

Interesting that the narrator said “Astor Column.” That was what we called it when I lived near it in the 1950s. Today, it is called the “Astoria Column.” The local historians say that the latter is historically correct, but it still sounds wrong to me. By the way, the “Astor” was Vincent, not John Jacob.
