    I'm all for legalizing marijuana, I just hate when people call stoners lazy. People like myself work and go to college, smoking marijuana just helps me enjoy the littlest things and catch a good laugh with friends.
    Edit: it’s finally decriminalized in NJ🙌

      atoche93 personally it's been a while since I've smoked, last I did I was working and I would only smoke when I was either done with work or had a day off, a lot of people assume pot smokers are lazy because of the media or people who don't work and just spend every dime they got on it, and I have a retort I like to use anytime people start saying that it's a gateway drug "10/10 heroine & meth users started off drinking milk, does that mean we need to ban milk as well?" To which they tend to respond with "well milk is healthy and natural" which completely makes their argument null and void due to the fact that marijuana was actually grown by many different cultures and used as a medical herb and as a relaxer/luxury item in many earlier civilizations, only recently has it become a criminal offense because it is "unhealthy" despite a lot of scientists and doctors actually acknowledging its benefits, I personally think it should be regulated like cigarettes and alcohol, where there should be a tax on it but it shouldn't be a criminal offense, because people who have possession charges for marijuana have a harder time looking for jobs when in reality they aren't really harming anyone, some comedians and celebrities smoke and people love that they do because they are funnier or just all around better people. Now I'm not saying that it doesn't have its downsides but those downsides only happen if you smoke about 2-3 lb of weed in 3 minutes... until someone can show me proof that someone has died of smoking weed and nothing else. I will be an advocate for legalization.

      atoche93 Treat it like a glass of wine and you'll be fine. That's my motto. Smoking pot at the end of a long, hard day at work is justified! It's people who sit around all day not working whilst scrounging for pennies just trying to sort some herbs out. Been there, done that. I now hold down a consistent and regimented work ethic which comes from having a routine and something to look forward to after that.. Peace!

      I'm high everyday, all day; at school, before school and after school. I maintain a 4.5 gpa and have all AP classes. I'm also the only junior in my school in AP calculus and am self studying Calculus 2, multivariable calculus, and linear algebra. keep in mind that this is all while stoned as fuck. I started smoking weed and it enabled me to focus. give me some mathematics to study when I'm sober, and I'm really good at it . give it to me when I'm stoned, and im great at it; visualizing graphs, making connections to the real world,etc. It helps me get into a deeper state of concentration

      atoche93 same here before I became disabled I worked 60 hour weeks and never missed a day. I smoke weed everyday but when I used to work I wouldn't touch cannabis at work and would have a couple of blunts every night to relax. I now use cannabis as pain relief and for my mental health (in other words if I didn't smoke cannabis I'd go mental as I'm virtually housebound.

    • @aaron3554
      @aaron3554 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      +housemartin555 Yes, but that's not the concern. It's what they do when or after they do whatever it is to their body. I agree that yes, it should be legalized, but to put it in the way you put it is not right. Because the opposing argument in this case is that of what one will do to another if one does this to their own body.
      This video centralizes about what someone will do to another if they smoke cannabis. What someone does to their own body is no one elses business but their own, but if another person is put in danger because of what another person did to their own body, then it becomes a problem because someone is risking the health and safety of another. It no longer becomes a matter of what someone wants to do to themselves but what someone will do to someone else.
      But yes, I agree. No one should tell you what to do, unless it endangers the safety of another.
      Yes, I do agree it should be legalized fully. 100% Support.
      Just saying(this doesn't involve what I said earlier) that the price for cannabis should go down as well, maybe to a little bit more then the costs of cigarettes! This is because it will be legal to grow federally and because the high demand, the production will go up and so the cost will go down!

      +Marshall Walker the prohibition is what accelerated the great depression. America did not run the same in the 30a as it does today. Thanks to WWI and WWII there were not that many rich people running the country. Most people were poor those days. You should read up on the 1930s a bit more before saying something like that. The rich were centralized in Europe during that time and America took a lot of its ideas from European culture. Corporations were not mainstream until the 1950s thanks to WWI and WWII. Most people in the early 1900s worked in a factory, general store, or were in the military. Those were not high salary jobs.

As the legalization train is coming, it is vital we the people not let cannabis be taken over by the likes of Marlboro or Proctor & Gamble, heaven forbid, I pray I do not see that day. Everyone seems to forget that cannabis is a plant. Plants are natural to the earth & simply put a company can't claim ownership over a plant. Thats one of the reasons it is currently illegal, companies can't control something that can be grown at home.

      but its not really abuse, its just a use of weed, abusing weed would mean that too much weed would do certain things, which it might, but isnt that the same for pretty much anything? further more, why is weed illigal and not alchohol? whats more dangerous to abuse? mhm

    • @moosedrummer1
      @moosedrummer1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @darkarmos gets it. Identity my ass. How many teens have died from abusing marijuana? How many people period? None have been proven without a doubt. Anyone that says someone abuses marijuana doesn't know anything about it. When cannabis leads to a cure for aids or cancer there are gonna be some people feeling stupid. All we are doing is waisting time. Look up what CBD does for people with MLS and autistic kids hell all kinds of illnesses. I'm not a dr. And I can't rattle off all these illnesses but I know I've smoked this plant for 20 years off and on and I've battled with alcoholism. The cannabis isn't a problem. The alcohol is. It's almost completely ruined me. How can alcohol be legal but not marijuana? WAKE UP!

    • @Geist452
      @Geist452 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's often just a poor interpretation of language that's highly interpret-able. Marijuana "abuse" is mostly based in compulsion; it's temporarily incapacitating, it can be a channel to withdraw and it costs money. "Abuse" in the context of consumption, is usually signified by an isolating factor that poses a more immediate risk to your health.. Thou there can be somewhat comparable risks to tobacco "abuse" pending your selected intake, addiction is really the more suitable term for both, despite the lack of "physical" addiction present in marijuana use; like shopping addiction - compulsive,,, rather than "shopping abuse".... don't buy cosmetic paraphernalia from criminals kids and don't apply cosmetics under the influence, unless you want to terrorize Gotham at night.

    • @Geist452
      @Geist452 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      ***** Poor diet causes more premature deaths than alcohol and marijuana combined (that was only half of a joke); some research has also shown that sugar is more chemically addictive then crack cocaine. Consider the possibility that your marijuana use only correlates with your more dangerous addictive behaviors, and did not/ does not actually cause them. Your addiction to marijuana could be unique among your struggles and also very telling, as it's the only one listed that is not "physically addictive". Such abuse typically stems from compulsive and impulsive behaviors, which often manifest from underlying anxieties and negative thoughts. It can be the difference between someone who exercises to look good, and someone who exercises while abusing steroids but can never fulfill their need to "look good" enough. But Good News, you may very well have the kind of personality that can deal with this properly. Seeing marijuana in a negative light is much easier to overcome, then seeing something like steroid abuse in a positive light.
      Your issues might be more fundamental to your brain chemistry; and it would only make sense for your oldest, most practiced habits to be the hardest to let go. When dealing with psychological barriers there's a great power in the habitual practice of positive reinforcement. Anxiety is a killer, because when it's your emotional response to think that a frequented behavior is detrimental to your health, it usually is. I know it's easy to under cook the fact that we use these kind of behaviors as an escape; not always realizing that what's needed isn't necessary the absence of a behavior, but a more suitable response to control anxiety and other negative impulses. ... what's important is, that all necessary and implicated parties feel good about the situation.
      Everyone has their battles with compulsive behavior in attempts to feel more: weed is my substance of choice; I smoked pot when i was a teen, heavily in my late teens, causally and controlled in my 20s.. the physical effects of marijuana can be negligible at worst, but dependency is never negligible (for better or worse). If your perceived dependency of marijuana has been ultimately destructive to your life and thought process, it would be very logical and beneficial to attempt simulating its desired effects with something that you don't perceive as a negative. Experiment with many alternate relaxation techniques, and maybe try adopting positive daily rituals instead of toking... find out what actually works for you and try to find a happy medium.
      Every day, multiple times a day, I use (mostly) shadow boxing as a surrogate for the kind of aggression (and attempt to feel more) that can carry serious physical repercussions. So....If marijuana is preventing you from forming positive habits, use the temporary comfort you find in smoking to incrementally substitute for a goal. Find a more accommodating, easier dealt with variation of your goal... and tell yourself, "i'm not going to let marijuana stop me from doing this." Then reduce the intake of cannabis, and increase the intensity of your goal. Before I started to routinely shadow box, I routinely used a heavy bag to develop and re-target the sensation; I also smoked pot while hitting the heavy bag to partially re-associate what being "high" could feel like to me. Today for me, shadow boxing (and a few other outlets:) is meditation, relaxation and a kind of escape that's almost every bit as of gratifying as smoking weed and smashing fools was/is. And on a daily basis, almost getting the best of both worlds is the best tool for management that your gunna find. There's a great power in the habitual practice of positive reinforcement, you just need some seed of an idea to start the proper emotional response.

    Everyone who is against weed is willfully ignorant. When I was a freshman in high school, I hated weed despite not knowing anything about it. I ended up meeting a friend who told me the truths about it, not the spoon fed lies the state gave me, and was so surprised to find out it actually worked wonders for my eating disorder, depression and ADHD. I then realized it's an outrage that a plant that grows naturally and has never killed a single person is something that can get you locked up. How are we, as a democracy and supposedly the freest nation on Earth, still prohibiting a plant with many medicinal benefits and uses? Legalize it now! Tax it and create thousands of jobs and build/improve schools. It's the common sense thing to do, President Obama.

I don't need it everyday, I'm a college student and things can get stressful, so usually to ease my stress I smoke, and it works

    A lot of ignorant comments below. I'm 16 and let me say to the people who think legalization will make weed easier for their kids to get....hahahahano. Legalization makes it harder to get by decreasing the market for illicit pot. No dispensary is going to sell to a 12 year old, chill. If I wanted to smoke right now I could get some delivered in 10 mins. Its not that hard to get when its illegal. Also, Im tired of the 40 yr old mothers trolling youtube with archaic facts such as "it gives you cancer" and "kills brain cells". This has proven to be just the opposite, there are many studies by reputable institutions that show that weed has anticancer properties, and even is nueroprotective. Its funny really. More than 4,000 years (prob a lot more) of recorded use and the last 100 is the only time in those 4,000 it has ever been demonized. I love how we Christians demonize it the most when it was God who put it on the planet for us. " And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. Genesis 1:29 ". Pretty straightforward. (BTW, Weed is a seed bearing plant or "herb"). Even the Romans used it medicinally, even as a Christian entity. It was made illegal for economic purposes in the early 20th century, not for any safety reasons. Heck, nobody knew what the hell "marijuana" was, but cannabis was a staple crop and medicine in the USA. GEORGE WASHINGTON himself grew it. If thats not American, I don't know what is.Google some scientific studies on MJ, you'll be amazed.Thanks and sorry for the rant.

If you really try to analyze what he's saying, and not just viewing him in black and white, then you'll realize that he makes a very valid point about how marijuana is subject to abuse, just like any other drug. Many "potheads" don't like to think this is true because they have been convinced that smoking weed isn't a bad thing at ALL. I think it's exciting that the president would speak so mildly of marijuana, and that is certainly a huge step forward, but objectively speaking, alcohol is WAY worse of a drug overall than pot, and I will also stand by my assertion that pot is almost completely harmless. Occasional toking has so many wonderful benefits that I won't get into here, but on the other side of the coin, I will say that it has POTENTIAL for abuse, as many stoners smoke it abusively, meaning 24/7, and I wholeheartedly concede that that is quite unhealthy. Not even close to as unhealthy as alcoholism though. I could probably write a rather thick book regarding the reasons as to why, but I'll just conclude by noting that this is coming from someone who has used both drugs quite heavily in the past. (Yes, alcohol is a drug.)

      The question is what is any science to law defining criminal? The origins to law are social transgressions or the intent to harm another individual or their property; property is any human extension which has an emotional attachment; Law enforcement itself is a form of transgression in the force to an authoritarian obedience to corporal punishment as a form of correction to fall in line to the insidious nature of materialist conformity.

    If alcohol is legal, weed should be too. Whether you smoke or not, some tax dollars are better than none.

  • @PronounceGaming
    @PronounceGaming 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So he's basically saying that if it's legalized, people will abuse the use of marijuana, therefore it should remain illegal. Firstly, keeping it illegal isn't going to stop someone from using marijuana, and secondly, in a free society we have the right to do whatever we want when it concerns our body so long as it isn't affecting anyone else, it's none of the government's business. Both cigarettes and alcohol are legal but I partake in neither; don't need the government to protect me from myself. Overeating can lead to health problems and shorter lifespans, but I eat within my needs; don't need the government to protect me from myself.
    Speaking of food there are 300,000 emergency room visits per year by people under the age of 18 due to allergic reactions to food. Eight foods account for 90% of all allergic reactions: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, fish, and shellfish. Since Obama thinks the government's duty is to protect people from themselves, I wonder if he'd say that the eight listed foods need to be banned?
    Deaths per year from Tobacco in the U.S. - 480,000
    Deaths per year from Alcohol in the U.S. - 88,000
    Deaths per year from Drunk-Driving in the U.S. - 10,000
    Deaths per year from Prescription Drugs in the U.S. - 100,000
    Deaths per year from Marijuana in the World - 0

    The reason why it’s so hard to legalize is because so many have been prosecuted already especially for those who be in the trenches.
