@Martha Speaks humility is the ability to know when you need to stand your ground, or roll with the punches. People whom lack humility get offended easily, because they always take themselves too seriously. On the contrary, you can also lack it because of severe self hate, with is obviously unhealthy for said person. Obama has humility because he found the happy medium.

I would say that this speech is important for more than Americans. We italians had this exact issue for decades at this point. We also had our own Trump (Berlusconi) and we never recovered afterwards. It's... such a mess. Politicians behave like squawking ducks battling over crumbs of bread. Seeing them screaming over each other in the "congress" is a common sight, and they even started a brawl the other day. There's so much confusion, radicalization, even fascism is rising. We used to have capable politicians, mind you. They all died. Last one is probably Mattarella (basically our King). After he will be dead too, we don't have anyone to take his place anymore... But maybe, maybe if these videos become viral, finally, slowly, we can start to recover. Maybe.

In the 2008 election, he had the chance to vote to limit campaign donations to 250 USD - which would have been a huge step in the right direction. But he didn't, because he couldn't have won the election without huge contributions from Goldman&Sach's. You could say he has his heart at the right place, but is far from moral relativism - just like everyone else. Except Bernie Sanders. But Bernie Sanders also didn't make it. Funnily enough, this very real,, very serious problem in any democracy on the planet - he doesn't talk about that at all. Because there's no solution to that. And THAT'S why people are cynical.

Populism and false humility is what I see. Him saying what you pointed out makes no real call to problems within the democratic party. As he points out "the democrats have gone far... the democrats went left" and the republicans "have went far to the right". He's "humble" "president-like" speech does nothing but spark at a certain level a war of ideas. Something not surprising, the democratic party has been doing so for years and finally got the widespread reach they've been waiting for.
The idea of wanting others to see what you see and calling them names for refusing to consent on your same views does not play well with the idea of an open mind and objectivity, it doesn't even play well with the idea of being well educated. One should make a claim, explain his reason for said claim as much as he can or is able to and at the end let others make their own mind; not expect from them total accordance with something they think is obvious, if they reach this point at least realise that what you think is obvious has many more facets to it then you thought, then analyse it again.

the difference is that when Trump complains about things, he shouts and points fingers. That is all he does. He is exceptional at complaining, but a very poor diplomatic character. That is what Obama does, in his position he needs to be a diplomat and see everybody's viewpoints in order to come up with a mutually beneficial solution that everybody can agree upon. For Trump it is just his way or the highway. To him the world is black and white (not speaking about racism). Trump is good at whining and seeing what is wrong with something, Obama is good at seeing the solutions and actually doing something about it.

@@goaway306 He's mostly talking about gerrymandering. Gerrymandering is a shifting of US districts in states to theoretically proportionally represent US citizens for elections following that decade's census.
But it's mostly used as a partisan method to redraw districts to get as many constituents who vote a specific way into districts that would typically vote for the other party.
For example: Census 2010 ended up allowing Republicans to redraw districts to match their population preferences which allowed them to gain more seats in the house and senate. You may have a few very large cities in a state vote democrat and while typically that would result in atleast some democrat representation in congress, if you draw a district to slice that city in half and gather a bunch of rural votes you'll end up instead with a republican representative.
That and the fact that some republicans want to make it difficult for people to vote by reducing mail-in voting and early voting and as of 2020 reducing the number of polling stations in certain cities. There is also a push to include more required identification in order to vote under the argument that elections are being hijacked by illegal immigrants and non-citizens.
But, if you can't vote early or mail-in then you have to wait in line to vote in person and depending on where you live and how many polling stations you have you can easily end up waiting over 13 to 17 hours just to cast your vote on election day, if your vote isn't cast too late that is. There are actually videos of those waits if you don't believe me.

But to say that everything all the MSM puts out is "Race Baiting", misinformation and completely intended to divide, is a bit presumptuous, particularly without having or using any form of counter-information to make that claim.

Mine is 50m away from my home. We got about 4 weeks to educate ourselfs on the topic upon arrival of the letter and to return the letter. It doesn’t need to be returned on any specific day. Why should it be any more complicated than that? Voting in the US baffles me.

Because some people are tired of the government as a tool to improve things and just want freedom for people to fend for themselves. I.e. they don't want a government to vote about the direction of in the first place. They just want to solve problems on their own with their local communities. Otherwise a lot of coal miners just felt ignored when the government pushed for green energy and Trump literally said he wouldn't sell out their livelyhoods. That's my understanding from a European perspective at least. Nicely put words doesn't matter as much as you'd think if it's nearly impossible to make them a reality.

    • @YAHGOA

You may think our weapon rights are stupid , but enough of us strongly disagree. I don't care much if your people want to have guns or not. It isn't really my business either way. I think your lack of gun rights are stupid, and I think we don't have enough gun rights in the USA.
I imagine, your lack of Gun rights to be about as stupid as your countries people think that our are in reverse. This is probably why it is good that we aren't the same country and we can each do it our own way.
I don't think we need any trade agreements at all, I think just mirroring the tariff would be fine. We in USA can just let the EU do whatever the hell it wants and take what ever your highest import tax plus VAT tax etc on any single ONE of our products/services and just apply it to ALL of your stuff coming our way. There is no way for you to game the system because any attempts to use tariffs to get an advantage, only hurts you not us, and it doesn't require you to agree to it at all.
This actually encourages both of us to lower taxes on imports etc. allowing the best people at making stuff in both nations to prosper and to specialize in what they are good at. We don't even need to make an agreement as this type of mirrored tariff can just be imposed on people with out their input in the matter and actually works better that way.

Nah fam, america has to die. What obama didnt mention is that media will corrupt or crash any saint devil or clown you put in your government. Your true leader is Rupert murdoch, well he is the leader of australia and co too but yea, he and his son aint going anywhere for the next couple decades so dont expect much to change. Btw you should realise the higher up the ranks of any party you go (Democrat or repubs) You will realise that they start to like their "opposition" more. The grunts, citizens, hate fight the other side with molotovs, riots and guns, full of hate. Politicians will do whatever they can to climb the ranks and hence will shit on the other side, but they know that the other side thinks the same way, so they coordinate to make drama and grab attention, both sides win. The news hosts say scripted lines to fuel the flames, but they realise that without the other party, they cant make as much money since there wont be as much anger, so they act out their lines with full of "anger and frustration" and smile as they watch the money flow. The news managers and ceos make big bomb, and all they do is tell the news hosts what to say, knowing that the more hate exists in your country, the bigger the cash flow, so they dont fix what aint broken, without their "other half", they would never had made this much money and hence begin to buddy up with their "enemies".
TLDR: Yall gonna dieded, better evac before yall go to war

Leaders like this don't come around very often. You don't age twenty years in two terms unless you truly care about your country and are working hard to reduce its problems.
I don't think Clinton is that bad. I think she is comparable to Obama. She has also worked hard and made sacrifices for this country. I'm not sure whether her judgement is at the same level as Obama's. But I believe she is still more than qualified to become the president.
As for Trump. I think he is appealing to the worst side of humanity. Even I get tempted to support him sometimes, when he talks about aggressively combating crime in this country. Who wouldn't want crime to go down? Who wouldn't want to feel safe? But I refuse to believe a man who is famous for mismanaging workers and billions of inherited dollars is capable of doing so.
