I am a household of 1. I use my 8 quart slow cooker every weekend to prepare a large batch of chili or scalloped potatoes or "whatever". I portion out servings to take to work for lunch and the rest gets frozen in single portions for dinners. Meals are always ready when I'm "too tired to cook."

i am single and do this too, i prepare e.g. 4 portions of pizza or casserole and then only bake one in the oven and put the other 3 covered into my deep-freezer, ready to just be put in the oven whenever i m not in the mood for cooking a fresh meal, it s so much cheaper than buying those ready-made deepfrozen meals in the store.

I also am a homemaker of one. I do the same with chili, and I also portion out servings of beef roast. Gone are the days when I'd eat out because it was just easier because it was just me. I no longer have a desire to eat out. I can be as creative in the kitchen as I want to be.

I am also a household of 1, and do the same. I use Rubbermaid Brilliance containers to freeze my portions. Since they are acrylic, I can see exactly what I have. I LOVE freezer meals for those nights when I don't feel like cooking.

My top pick is the crockpot. I have a large family and I homeschool. So I just pop things in the crockpot to cook during school or busy afternoons. My meals are ready when I am ready to serve. Also I use my crockpot to make homemade broths. The broth is not only used for soups but to cook beans, pasta , and rice. This adds great flavor and nutrition to my meals. Love your channel!

Back in 1998 my mil gave me a George Foreman grill. I used it once. But, I had a family of 6! That grill was too small! For the next 22 years I tried desperately to sell it in a yard sale! No takers. I live in a 125 year old house on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and I don't have central air. I'm always loving on my crock pot, rice cooker and toaster oven to cook and keep my kitchen cooler. And then I found that grill with the yard sale sticker still on it! Now that it's just 3 of us, I use it all the time! Chicken, chops, etc come out just delicious!

I've got to share this... 😁
Last year I got a huge deal on a case of tomatoes.. some weren't ok but it was fine.
Instead of making sausage and freezing I chopped them in big chunks same with a bunch of onions and whatever fresh herbs that were ready along with garlic. I cooked up everything in olive oil and a bit of butter and froze in small portions.
OMG..... When I took the first bag out I just tossed it over some inexpensive chicken legs...
BEST flavor ever for something so simple in the dead of winter!!
The herb's we're really flavorful I guess from sitting so long....
    Just so good
    Take care
    Great ideas as always guy's

Favorite appliance would be the slow cooker (crockpot) for sure! Chicken legs are such good value but I find them very fiddly to eat and there's always a little bit of meat that I can't get (or can't be bothered). I put them in the slow cooker weekly in a variety of ways and because the meat just falls off the bone, there's no waste!

Oh my biggest love for a small appliance goes to the... crepe maker I got last year, it is for one of those days where everyone wants you to cook something different but you would rather just take it it easy, it is such a wonderful thing, takes only a moment to heat up and the crepes come out just as if you buy them form a food stall always perfect and you can layer them with cheese, salami, sugar, cinnamon, vegetarian, salmon, chocolate spread, endless combination choices everyone is happy, less too clean and left overs are a delight next day and a little butter goes miles on this.

And it has a little steam basket that you can put veggies in on top while the rice is cooking.love it! And I was very resistant to ever buying a rice cooker but it is so worth it huge difference! Our favorite small appliance is our extra large toaster oven. We set it out on our patio and prepare most of our meals in it without heating up the house. It's 90 degrees here most days in summer and we try to not use our A.C. to save $$. Love you & Paul. Youre such a special couple! We're debt free too and hubby just retired. My favorite small appliance is my Breville Water boiler for tea, it makes my tea at the exact temperature for the type of tea. When I was very young my neighbor
Madeline who takes me to her parents' house they were from Lyon, France and they lived about 20 minutes away. They would always serve yellow beans with very thinly sliced onion, creamy French dressing and slices of hard-boiled eggs, oh it was my favorite, I would always thank My & Mrs. Chevalier for the wonderful dinner. They would send me home with a pound of yellow beans and I would make it for my family, and they loved it.

I love my crockpot, instant pot, toaster oven, and electric skillet.
I make freezer meals (like the burritos we had tonight) in metal 8 x 8 pans that stack nicely in the freezer and fit in the toaster oven for baking without heating up the whole kitchen.
    Any recipe that fits a 13 x 9 can fill two 8 x 8 pans.
I use the crockpot weekly for easy soups, curried chicken, and more.
My instant pot is regularly used in summer for things like hard boiled eggs, steamed shrimp, and hummingbird nectar.
I love my electric skillet for fried rice, stir fries, pork chops, and fried fish or chicken. It keeps such a nice even temperature and doesn’t give off as much heat as cooking the same things on the stove.

That is so funny. Last night I had two eggs that needed to be used up and some stale bread and I made French Toast for dinner. Too hot to turn on oven right now. I think the small appliance that get the most use at this point in my life is my toaster oven, followed closely by my Kitchenaid mixer (with the different attachments). I got a chuckle out of this one because I did something similar this morning for similar reasons - I had milk that had gone sour, one egg left that was a day past best sell by date (smelled it, it was fine) and a tiny bit of sour cream about to go off. I combined them with a few other ingredients and made a batch of pancakes, enjoyed and froze the rest, enough for 5 good breakfast (3 small 3 inch pancakes per meal). I defrost aan microwave when I want them.

My go to appliance is my Ninja Foodi. It is an air fryer, crockpot, pressure cooker, rice cooker, broiler and dehydrator all in one. I actually have a special stand for it and it sits next to my counter and I cook in it probably four to five times a week. I agree with you on using the fresh vegetables from the garden in the crock pot now for stew. I also make extra but usually end up canning it in jars as there is only so much freezer space. I really enjoy watching your channel and how you live your lives. Black Friday last year we purchased a table top convection oven that also is a broiler, air fryer, and a toaster oven! We use it everyday. A tie between my air fryer and the instant pot! When I meal prep I make steamed potatoes in the instant pot then cool and refrigerate to use in many ways( home fries, air fryer wedges, add to soups). I make homemade beans from dry beans in the instant pot. Also chili, soups, spaghetti sauce. The air fryer is great for any veggies and reheating leftovers. Love your veggie soup!

My toaster oven is my favorite go to with our crock pot coming in second. My toaster oven is big enough to bake or reheat a meal for two and I can “toast” bread at the same time just by laying the bread on top of the oven where the closed portion of the toaster door is. I can take both appliances to the basement where it’s cooler and not heat up the kitchen.

My two favorite small appliances are my Keurig coffee maker and my toaster. I also use my crockpot and air fryer on a weekly basis, at least. This past week, I was sick with Covid 19, so I wasn't going out anywhere, nor did I feel like preparing full meals. I used your suggestions about gathering little bits and pieces of what's inside the fridge and making something. I had stir-frys, omelets, soups, sandwiches, etc. Thought of you when I did this. Am feeling better now and will soon be rejoining the land of the out and about.

I have bought a vacuum sealer because of your videos and I am so glad I did it. I don't have to put containers into my freezer because they take a lot of space but I still have my food preserved very well. Thank you!

My favorite is the crock pot, however, our air fryer is a very close second. We have one of those air fryers that have different settings like fry, grill, bake, slow cooker, roast and so on. I love making fried chicken (bone in or boneless) with a breading of some kind on it. You have to use an oil spray to coat the breading with and spray it each time you turn it, but so yummy! One of my favorite things to do is take the chicken pieces, dip them in melted butter and then bread them in crushed ritz roasted vegetable crackers, spray both sides and cook in the air fryer. I am not a huge fan of any kind of pre-cooking I have to do before putting ingredients into the crock pot, but if it is not too much pre-cooking, I am willing to try it. I like to dump and go! Thank you Emmy and Paul (and Dixie) for all of your tips and positive attitude!

If your chicken legs seemed a little tough, next time you make them soak them I buttermilk first for a few hours or most of the day. I buy powdered buttermilk in a can so I can make as needed. Debi in Vicksburg, MS 🥰🥰

Hi Emmy and Paul! My favorite appliance is the crockpot, I use it year round. Second is my electric skillet. I make all my stir fry meals, pepper steak, spaghetti sauce, and lots of other recipes in it and it doesn’t heat up my kitchen. A close third is my George Forman grill. It too doesn’t heat up my kitchen and easy cleanup with the removable grill plates.

I use my instant pot almost daily. I also, use the crockpot multiple times a week. My electric skillet is also something I use almost daily. I use my air fryer once or twice a week.

I kept thinking to myself, "I can't believe she isn't going to add onion to the soup" and sure enough you did! Of course, I need to be in the onions anonymous group. My favorite small appliances are the microwave and crockpot. I don't really do many TV dinners, but the microwave is an easy way to reheat leftovers, make oatmeal, or a cup of tea. The crockpot is great because it is so versatile and can cook so many things: soup, meat, dips, desserts, etc. I actually don't own an air fryer. It is tempting to get one. Your chicken legs from the air fryer looked delicious!

My favorite appliance is my small pressure canner which lets me process 7 pints of food at a time. Since I am now by myself, I can have one meal of veggies, soup, stew, etc. and can the rest for later. I always process 7 jars at a time to maximize the canner. You do have to make sure that the foods have the same pressure and time requirements. If you have extra space when canning items containing proteins, you can process a jar or two of beans to have when you need them. I have slowcookers ranging from 1 qt to 7 qts and love them all!
