It happens i think like 5 or 6 minutes into the fight its the LAST dialogue they give before devil doom laughs if your half decent in this fight u might just miss it
When I first battled Devil Doom, I was surprised that Black Doom became a monstrous combination of himself and Black Bull with two heads on each side so that Doom's Eye flies towards the head after getting hit
Shadows backstory is like "my sister and everyone I ever knew died and I was manipulated into thinking I should destroy the earth for my sisters sake before it happens again but this time I was manipulated into thinking I am only a weapon and a robot" and shadows reaction is "this is the end of you and my cursed past."
BLACK DOOM: Before long, the gas from this comet will have spread over the entire planet. Shadow, cease these futile attempts to resist! You alone cannot change this planet's fate.
feels like the GUN commander shouldve also talked to shadow here. honor shadow for fighting black doom and realizing that he shouldve never doubted him, etc. and giving a thoughtful speech. also the President should talk here too.

For as uninteresting as Black Doom is, Schemmel's vocal performance is the saving grace for this character, especially during the Last Story. And to think that this is the same guy who is the more well-known english voice of Goku is all the more jarring. Son Goku: Once Earth's greatest protector, now its destroyer.
I like Black Doom because of how manipulative he is. In the first level he assumes Shadow will immediately aid him due to Gerald’s promise fifty years in the past, but when he realizes Shadow has amnesia he tries to influence Shadow to turn/keep him on his side. For example: in The Doom he forces Shadow to relive the raid on the ARK, and if you have Black Doom following you during the mission he’ll try to stoke Shadow’s anger, telling him that the humans bring nothing but destruction, that they’re defiling his precious home (he also describes it as OUR precious home, trying to make Shadow feel solidarity with the Black Arms), that he can tend to the wounded later, but that stopping the threat comes first. The entire level did a fantastic job at putting you in Shadow’s shoes; hearing the soldier’s chatter that painted just how unjust and cruel GUN’s actions were, Maria’s confusion as to just why the raid was happening in the first place, Black Doom whispering in your ear the whole time and stoking your anger. It was honestly a masterful level at showcasing both Black Doom’s manipulation and Shadow’s downfall/redemption depending on what mission you did; it’s my favorite level in terms of story. And Central City, though less effective, still gets how terrible Black Doom is across. For context: Shadow’s whole reasoning for siding with Black Doom in the first place is because in the intro cutscene when Black Doom mentioned a promise, Shadow assumed he made that promise in the past, instead of someone else making it in his stead. He assumes Black Doom has more knowledge about, and was more important to his past than he really was. And at the end of Westopolis Black Doom realizes this, and uses it to his advantage. Black Doom dangles answers in front of Shadow to keep him obedient, but the answers he gives are half-true at best. Central City’s opening cutscene demonstrates this with Black Doom telling Shadow that his past was filled with vengeance towards the humans, and with Shadow’s amnesia he can’t remember everything that happened, or why he felt vengeful, but he could feel there was an echo of truth in it. It’s just enough to keep Shadow working for more, but it doesn’t give him the whole story so as not to make him question Black Doom’s orders, it also makes Shadow more loyal to the cause by reawakening his old vendetta. Additionally, in the dark ending of Black Comet this plays in Black Doom’s favor as much as possible with Shadow declaring his life’s purpose-the reason he was created in the first place-is to serve Black Doom. Anyway, sorry for the wall of text, but I find Black Doom an exceptional villain in the dark routes. People don’t give him enough credit for so thoroughly ruining Shadow’s life without him even realizing it. The hero routes paint him as ultimately less cunning, but solely because Shadow is kept tethered to reality by his friends and loved ones, and is more able to resist Black Doom’s manipulations.

I didn’t even mention how his victory would be the singular worst outcome out of any Sonic villain’s success ever. At least with Chaos and Solaris the world/universe respectively would be destroyed, and there’d be no one left who COULD suffer; Black Doom on the other hand would turn the entire human race into little more than cattle to be feasted upon while also terraforming the earth into a hostile, completely alien world. He’s easily the most threatening villain the Sonic franchise has ever had.
The longer the fight goes on, it’s unsettling knowing the gas has covered the planet paralyzing everyone. Devil Doom’s won at that point
