It all depends on the equipment. This is from the 90's. If they would've used professional movie cameras this video would look better than modern matchroom pool.
I noticed the same thing as Jeff. Earl was not his typical jerk self. This match looks like it was played around 1993. That is just a guess but I bet it’s close.
Earl was alot different in the early 90s. Watch any of his early 90s matches he smiles and congratulated his opponents. He started developing bipolar symptoms towards the end of the 90s. A little paranoid delusions as well.
"Hello. My name is Efren Reyes. You killed my father. Prepare to die." I'm pretty sure Earl Strickland played The Six-fingered Man in the film *The Princess Bride*
When that baby in the audience was crying, I thought for a moment it was Earl.
30 years ago this was the best video quality ...incredible how fast technology race up

I want to go to the Philippines to learn pool for a few years. Their pool mastery is so next level.
Well, Earl and I had the same experience; Efren kicked both of our butts!
Both these guys were so close in skill. At such a high level, it is amazing to watch.
Oof, that cut shot at 38:00 by Efren... amazing.
37:57 - *The 1-Micron Cut Shot*

What's with the lack of comments? I'll say one: Strickland wasn't a dick, for a change.
This is before earl lost his mind. He was pretty sportsman like back in the day
Earl...the best breaker, Efren....the best defensive player, both equal shot makers, my 2 favorites right here.
