I'm a home inspector and am hoping this little guy will help me with roof inspections as well as keeping this guy in his 50's off of ladders as much as possible!

Before I bought my Mavic Air I watched a lot of videos on TH-cam and I’ve found that your channel has some of the best info on this drone. Thanks Dustin for all your hard work. BTW, I’ve flown both the Phantom 4 and the Mavic Pro and have to say, the Mavic Air does not disappoint.
DJI already include a radar / compas in the app, just tap on the target at the top right corner of the littlemap. This is a very good drone and was a cool review. I hope you will test his competitor the Autel Evo.

Quick tip. If you know you won't have data where you are going you can tap the three lines on the top of the go fly menu on the app and it will let you download and save sections of the map. Just using it in the cache works ok but if your phone decides to clear the cache for any reason you lose your map.
Absolutely fantastic review!! in the beginning I was a bit skepticle about the length of the video but once i started watching, I couldn't stop watching. right before this video i watched two of the other Magic air review videos and none of them gave such an in depth information as this one. I appreciate it more because not long ago i lost a drone along with an additional GoPro camera just because of the lack of knowledge that one should have before you start flying a drone. this video covers a lot of features that a novice like me would never know otherwise. A Big Thumbs Up.

Awesome review! I'm just getting into the drone scene. I have a $200 drone, good learner. After watching this review, i purchased this drone for the features you covered. I had many questions, apart from range test, seems no one cares about features, more how far will it go. This was the most thorough I've watched and all questions I had were answered, and then some. Thank you for being so thorough. I know I'm late, but hoping the drone is still relevant and didn't make a mistake purchasing it, but it has all the features and more than I need. Really looking forward to flying this and testing features you covered.
They are releasing a (supposed) air 2 in a week, which will be have upgraded features and fixed flaws. Everyone is presuming that it is the air 2 due to leaked photos. If you check out DJI's Twitter and Instagram, they have information on the release event!
The Mavic Air is an amazing drone. I have not been disappointed in my purchase at all! The important thing to remember is that good footage doesn't make an epic video. Editing does that. So if you're reading this and you're just starting out, remember to keep practicing, keep shooting, keep trying to improve. With consistency you will start to see results you might not have even dreamed were possible by you. Thanks for the video, Dustin. Keep up the good work 💪

Thanks for this! I got a refurbished mavic air and I love it. I couldn't figure out why active track and other features were missing. It was because my remote came in sport mode and I had to turn it off. This also taught me about the gimbal roll control

This was the review that got me to pull the trigger on the Mavic Air. It's been 4 years. I have the Mavic Air 2 and the Mini 2 now in 2023, but I still have my Mavic Air original. In fact I bought 2 more because the prices on like new Air's have come way down. It is still the fastest drone I fly though the FPV drones they have today are even faster. One thing I still love about this drone is the color. I have better, more advanced drones today but none of them have the color that the Mavic Air has when recording video. I don't even need to color grade. However there are two things that I don't like about the Mavic Air original. It's too loud and the battery life isn't very good compared to most modern drones today. But, the Mavic Air is still one of my favorite drones. It was the perfect starter drone for me and as long as I can find batteries for it, I will faithfully fly it for years to come. Cheers!

It did not lock on to you at 39:18 because you were moving backwards... it was waiting for you to stop moving before it could lock on...and as soon as you stopped moving...
Outstanding video, DD... a long way from the days of reviewing and modding the Cheerson CX-20. This drone seems to have it all...good cam, selfie, sport and aerial photo and video features...well done!

Great video, I like the Air a lot too. Will for sure use this on my own channel, this will be fun. I also like the sports mode, this makes it super fun to fly.
Very nice comprehensive review, even though you didn't get to cover every single feature. I guess this is NOT like the Spark, in that there is a solid connection between the RC and your phone. With the Spark, since they disabled the OTG cable option, you are left with Wi-fi only connection between RC & phone, and many guys are getting disconnections, choppy video .. and some even report fly-aways. (for that reason I've kept older APP & FW version on mine so that I can continue to use the OTG cable on my Spark). Lots of neat features, but if you're going to use it mostly for doing videography shoots, you probably won't be using many of those, with perhaps the exception of the POI mode (or Tripod mode, which I like to use). I think, if you are going to continue to shoot in 4K, you need to upgrade your SD card to a U3 class, as I saw a warning during your video that it considered your SD card too slow (supposedly, in 4K, this has a 100mbps bit rate). I didn't watch the Super Bowl either .. actually, didn't watch even one NFL game this year because I was disgusted with the "kneelers". Will keep an eye out for your future adventures with this one. Well you still need to have good footage, to make that happen. If what you recorded is not appealing, it doesn't matter.
Im just not sure how to setup the camera yet, but Im figuring out. Drone seems very epic so far.

Here in Malaysia there are sellers selling 'new' (refurbished) batteries that upgrade from 21 to 27 mins, and pretty cheap

It did not lock on to you at 39:18 because you were moving backwards... it was waiting for you to stop moving before it could lock on...and as soon as you stopped moving...
Outstanding video, DD... a long way from the days of reviewing and modding the Cheerson CX-20. This drone seems to have it all...good cam, selfie, sport and aerial photo and video features...well done!

Great video, I like the Air a lot too. Will for sure use this on my own channel, this will be fun. I also like the sports mode, this makes it super fun to fly.

Very nice comprehensive review, even though you didn't get to cover every single feature. I guess this is NOT like the Spark, in that there is a solid connection between the RC and your phone. With the Spark, since they disabled the OTG cable option, you are left with Wi-fi only connection between RC & phone, and many guys are getting disconnections, choppy video .. and some even report fly-aways. (for that reason I've kept older APP & FW version on mine so that I can continue to use the OTG cable on my Spark). Lots of neat features, but if you're going to use it mostly for doing videography shoots, you probably won't be using many of those, with perhaps the exception of the POI mode (or Tripod mode, which I like to use). I think, if you are going to continue to shoot in 4K, you need to upgrade your SD card to a U3 class, as I saw a warning during your video that it considered your SD card too slow (supposedly, in 4K, this has a 100mbps bit rate). I didn't watch the Super Bowl either .. actually, didn't watch even one NFL game this year because I was disgusted with the "kneelers". Will keep an eye out for your future adventures with this one.
