I love watching quadcopter vids because I'm a junkie, but when there's one that I am thinking about buying I always come here. Love the variety of reviewers on TH-cam, short and long reviews alike. This was as thorough as usual and for what this thing costs and is purported to do, the length of the review is appropriate and necessary.
I think this is the best review on the Mavic I've seen. I was really looking for something that somebody would just sit there and fly for the majority of the review and that's what Dustin delivered. I am convinced that this is my next drone. Thanks Dustin
For Photos, once you make the finger gesture, you have to spread them apart, and then in 3 secs it will auto take the photo (start your fingers close together as a small square, then spread them into a larger square)....just an FYI
Hi neiswestnij ,do you still have your Mavic Pro Platinum ? I still have mine and I can't believe how sweet this thing is each and everytime I take her out for a flight but the camera ribbon cable is gone for the longest time and I can't get one because the person who I ordered the cables through are messing me up all the time and that is because I don't have a credit card but hopefully things are going to work out for me soon ,take care and happy flying .
Hi everyone. I would like to comment that I was not using the DJIGO 4 app in this Review. This was done with the original app. An oversight on my part and I will be revisiting the Mavic with the djiGo 4 app to see the difference in performance. Aloha.
It's more of an oversight on their part letting you use an outdated app. It should have warned you that you needed to update the firmware/download the new app.
I still fly my Mavic pro in 2023 after 6 years it’s still flying on same batteries even after not charging during lockdown period for 2yrs it still works perfectly, it’s the work horse of Dji
I don't mind long videos if they are informative. I'm so glad you did this! Only wish it was 4K, but it's more about the functions than the resolution, so that's cool.
Great how you go into such detail with all the functions. Most reviews just cover whatever's on the DJI website and say how awesome it is. This is the video I wanted to see. The actual functionality, and controls. Thanks for that! 2 things though: 1. You might want to read the manual and prepare your presentation a bit. Although it can be nice to see how it is flying this thing without reading the manual, you were just going with guesses and trial&error. Even though I'm still waiting for my Mavic, I think you gave some vague or wrong info a few times. Some was corrected with text on screen. And, as you said in previous comments, using the newer DJI GO 4 app might've also helped when not reading the manual. 2. Can the beeps for the return to home and low battery be switched off? Or sound just once as a warning, instead of constantly? In the video they were slightly annoying. In your other video (part 3 - 6 mile in-depth range-test) they were messing up half the video (all the way during RTH).
I watched your Spark review and flight test and I was really impressed. You and others have shown that the Spark is so much more than just a Selfie drone. But ultimately, I just ordered the more expensive Mavic because I've been wanting one for a VERY long time and I felt I would regret it if I did not. But you, along with several other very good TH-camrs who do drone reviews, did make me question (over and over again), which I should buy. I appreciate your unbiased reviews and I'm glad you are in a position to be able to safely do these long range tests.
I enjoyed the thorough review Dustin. Thank you. It was a long video but you can fast forward through it if you'd like. I don't understand all the negative comments about the length. I just flew my brother-in-law's a few weeks ago (though yours was much more extensive) and now watching your video I find it interesting how your feelings match up with mine. Thanks again for taking the time to help others out.
If no 'private' mode option is available, then put your smart phone into 'airplane' mode, then turn your Wi-Fi back on to help with the GPS. Some phones need to turn off their auto rotate also. Maybe the updates have long since solved the crashing issues, but I still do this and have had no problems since.
Thanks for making this video review. I am considering getting the mavic pro and have watched many reviews of it. Yours hit the spot, and I feel like I don't need to watch anymore videos to make up my mind. I'm sold. I felt like I was flying the mavic for the first time with you watching this video.
Great video for a first time drone buyer! Yes...the Mavic is the first drone I've ever used. I've watched tons of videos on it and this was by far the best. Great job.
you did an error. When mavic takes off, the down cameras take few photos of the terrain to land using gps + image comparison. If you trhow the black keys on that spot after the phtos had been taken, you will confuse the software when the mavic tries to land.
I've realized this video is 3 years old. But I've just gotten my first drone 4DRC F3 Nocchi and I've just turned off the optimization power mode so the app wouldn't be limited to battery use. That way you can avoid app crashes. 💪I'm going to upgrade to a Mavic once I get better at flying.
Hey there. I just wanted to say thank you. I just bought a Mavic Pro Fly more which arrived today!. Your IRL walk-through is helping me a great deal! Thanks and subscribed!
The best review of Mavic Pro i am about to buy one but seeing this I might edge my bet on the Skydio 2!! Well done Dusty game changer for me. Thanks Brock
I never comment on videos, but had to say a huge thank you for this one! I'm after my first semi-pro drone and this review showed me everything i needed to know. Thank you for such an in depth review.
brilliant video, really like seeing the unedited footage of you getting to grips with the Mavic as its all well and good watching vloggers who know how to shoot great footage using these things, but your video is far more real world and representative
For your information, to get RTH function work proper you need to start your drome everytime to climb 10meters/30feets and after that its work perfect.
I would rather have a really long video that explains everything and tutorials than some person who just wants to show off their tricks without explaining anything. Great video!
Hey Dustin! I watched this video a couple of years ago when I first brought my MP home, I haven't flown in a while so I thought I'd brush up by watching your video again..excellent video by the way. The first time I watched it, I think I missed the part that you were going to launch the craft from your flip flop 😂. Hope all is well with you, brother! Keep fighting the good fight and don't ever cease to do the range tests! Theres only one Jedi who has the courage to do distance testing at night time 🌒.. Peace be with you my friend ☮︎
I'm impressed with the gimbals, the stabilisation, the flying and the obstacle avoidance. I'm less impressed with the camera itself and not at all impressed with the app problems. Excellent review
A lot of people trying to give you a hard time for not being an expert, but this is exactly the kind of video I have been looking for. As a newbie I need to know what to expect when I try to fly. I don't need some know it all jerk telling me how I screwed up. I need real deal insight just like you provided? Kudos.
Great in depth review. I have seen 2 videos where the DJI GO app crashed and the Mavic crashed in the Hudson river in one and crashed into the ocean 150 yards off of Miami beach Florida. That crashing app seems to be a real problem. I have seen cheap WiFi quads, with altitude hold, fly away when the stupid app froze/crashed. That problem seems to occur with more than just the DJI GO app!
This has been one of the most informative videos I have watched. Appreciate your time doing it. More interesting than someone just explaining the system while at a desk. This has been the clincher for me to buy the Mavic. Ordered it today. Thank you.
Great review! I wouldn't werry about how long the video is. You hit all or most of everything I needed to know on whether or not I'm going to buy this drone. Great job! Thank you.
It's intersting what happens over barely two years. The app is stable an safe now and supports the german language :D The autofokus is inkluded too. No need to focus manually anymore. I love my Mavic and it was interesting to see a review from the end of 2016 :D
You will find RTH will be much more accurate if the home point is very different to the surrounds, i.e.:your return to home point was grass and every thing around it is grass so it is using the gps coordinates to find home, if you were to put a very contrasting landing zone down, for example if you are on grass put a blue mat down and take off from that you will find it will be much more accurate as the blue will stand out against the green grass. When the Mavic takes off it takes a photo of the area and when it returns it tries to match the picture and because the blue will stand out from the green grass it will recognise it. I hope this helps.
Hi Dustin, great video and very helpful. Thank you for posting it. I believe the reason the first RTH did not land on the keys is because the keys were not on the ground when you took off. If you remember, you put the keys on the ground afterwards. The following from DJI's FAQ explains the need for the Mavic to recognize the ground pattern it took off from: 4. What are the conditions required for Precision Landing? Precision Landing is an upgraded version of GPS RTH. It needs a GPS signal strong enough to initiate Precision Landing, so that the Mavic can be navigated back to the vicinity of the take-off point. Then, the aircraft needs to be able to visually recognize the pattern of the ground it took off from, for example cracks or other identifiable patterns. A uniform patch of sand, however, is not suitable for Precision Landing. Finally, the Mavic needs to capture footage of the ground during take-off to record its appearance. This means that you should give the Mavic sufficient time during its ascent and fly up to around 10m above your takeoff point , instead of flying away immediately after take-off. Again, thanks much. I'm anxiously awaiting for the Feb 10 release of the Mavic for those of us lucky enough to have received it as a Christmas gift.
At least someone is reading the directions..lol. Thanks for sharing that and it makes sense that the systems need to work together. I've seen GPS only quads land spot on to where they took off but looks like the Mavic really needs the systems to work together to get the best precision. Enjoy your belated gift :)
I've watched tons of reviews as I'm thinking of purchasing a Mavic. It seems to me something might not be working properly on your end as most reviewers seem very happy with the touch to focus feature. I don't believe I have seen the app crash before but I may have missed it. One thing I think DJI should have done was to make the camera removable, then if you are having a problem with the camera you could just replace it or send it in.Your review is nice but it seems more on the fly as opposed to actually learning everything before you fly it. This is more like a flying computer from what I've seen and there is a lot to explore. Happy flying. :)
+redjack56 alot of reviews don't show the cons and cut out those parts. I leave it on to show the reality. I wasn't using the new djigo4 app but should have and will in another review. I think iOS app is more stable at the moment. The comments under djigo4 Android app store show an incredible amount of users having issues. Tap to focus is not a huge con but it didn't seem to stay focused on the object chosen is the issue which seems to be better now with updates and the djigo4 app. I'll revisit the Mavic with the go4 app and have a little more experience under my belt when doing so :)
I have to say you have the best videos on TH-cam right now for new drone owners starting out. The videos are just super informative throughout and cover a lot of small details no one else includes. I have to ask since you have flown so many drones now what are you two favorites ?
Dustin Dunnill I would be interested to know in the full featured commercial models say like Mavic and Phantom class drones. I know everyone has different preferences there's no once size fits all model out there. I just figured there had to be one or two drones that just stood out to you personally when flying.
+steel1911 I'd say the Mavic is the best all around for portability, range and quality. It really is an amazingly compact feat of engineering. With a price in between the spark and phantom 4 pro... It is a happy median.
Dustin Dunnill Yep, I'm going to order a Mavic Pro or Phantom 4 advanced in the next few days myself. I really like the proven phantom 4 advanced design and performance just seems like a safe bet. That said the loudness of that design seems like it would disturb/gain attention of more people in my area so the compact and quieter Mavic Pro maybe the best model for me. I already have a IPad mini 4 cellular for remote use.
so i decided to escape the old folks home and go droning , watching your video of this made me decide on the mavic to learn how to fly and keep my 3DR for upgrades till later as i gain more experience i also upgraded the family SUV for a faster Porsche as a better getaway alternative-btw i subbed your channel for more RC education
I think the terrain lock is when you are flying normal and you want to make sure that it stays X amount of feet off the surface. Great that it works with tracking also. Can you test this? Also Home lock I think if you select that and you do a return to home, it will let you Yaw while it is returning to home. Course lock would be useful if say you were next to a road and you wanted to get some shots of a car going down the road and you were beside it, you could set the course lock and then just move forward and then use the Yaw to get the shot you need and not have to worry about controlling the distance between the drone and the vehicle. maybe something else you could test out???
I just found out how Home Lock works. Say your 178 degrees compass heading out, 270 feet up and you lost your orientation and your a mile out. hit home lock and you become the center of the compass. you pull down on the right stick and no matter where it is and what direction it is pointing it will come back to its starting point. Kind of like a manual RTH from what I have seen.
+James Ingram I believe I tested the terrain lock as you say. It was on and I auto tracked me while walking up and down the hill. I'll test the home lock while trying RTH and yawing. Yes, that would be a great use for heading lock to follow a car from the side. I just think it's just as easy to fly sideways and get the same effect. Just depends on pilot skill.
+James Ingram I believe I went over this also on the video and explained the basic functionality. A good tool for orientation loss which RTH would also be good for.
Thanks for an in-depth review and all the info that I might have to check out. I’m waiting for my Mavic Pro Platinum to arrive! I’m hoping it will come before our Hawai’i trip. Awesome extensive tutorial, appreciate the above and beyond video! Mahalo.
Think so? It didnt do nothing my refurbished Bebop2 wouldnt do..for 500.00 less. But I will probably get one anyway. But I dont see it as being affordable. ITS EXPENSIVE! Its a toy.
your reviews and style are great. I like the details. but why do not you make them separate parted. 1.16 is too long. 20 minute parts would be great. just a suggestion :) keep up good work!!
I really appreciate you taking the time to do this test and video, I'm looking at getting rid of a 3DR Solo drone and upgrading to a DJI. I just haven't decided on which one to buy yet. I've narrowed it down to a choice between the Mavic and the Phantom 4. The Solo was a HUGE disappointment, I've had nothing but problems with it since I opened the box. It took several weeks to get it in the air because it had a defective compass when I took it out of the box. I sent it back to the company for repairs and what they sent back was also defective, having a multitude of programming issues. I can't get the electronics to work properly. I landed it the other day, and once it touched the ground, it jumped and flipped over. The last flight, I instructed it to move away from me three feet and come back, taking a selfie. When I hit the go button, the drone took off. In trying to bring it back under control, it went sideways, hitting a car and then coming after me, severely lacerating my arm with the props. It's nice to see that DJI has collision avoidance written into their software. Again, thanks for the information!
Seriously awesome review. Compared to the Walkera, I can now see how well done the dji product is. Question though - has anyone needed to contact dji support for anything? I have heard their support is basically non-existent. If that's true, then that's a shame because this is such a well done product, but lack of support is a huge no for me at least.
Great video (I'm only half way through) and just subscribed. Can't wait for the Mavic Air version of this video. I have a question about the stick controls and setup. I see you're using the left stick for yawing. Since you're an experienced drone and rc pilot, what are your thoughts on using the right stick for yaw and the left for left/right? I believe that's customizable.
+William Kelley it's been updated since this video. So lots have been fixed. Stick control is just preference and you can change to your liking. Thanks for subscribing 😀👍
I love this review! I hope to be doing a review of one soon myself. I don't think I can top the detail and depth as seen here but I am really impressed with this review. Keep up the great work!
Hey maybe you can update this even with text. I’m sure you know by now your phone was way to slow to handle the Matic! That’s a long video for a beginner to watch for all the guestions you still had yet to know. I’m glad I watched, and you did a great job. I just don’t want anyone else to have to wait so long to still have a lot of unanswered guest ions,? And to think that the app isn’t working or certain functions don’t do well with Android system fpv
Wow, good stuff dude! :) Hey, I've got a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 4.4.2 (stock ROM) and I never have crashes. It's the newer Android versions that REALLY make for the most issues with DJI drones. I have several.
DJI GO4 requires 4.4 or later, so you're golden! My LG V10 has 6.0, so I've decided to get an iPad 4 Mini with iOS 9 (9.0 is the minimum requirement) to use with the Mavic.
Any chance in doing a mavic pro review now in 2018 to see if it has gotten better? I love your reviews and it'd be great to see some months or years later after updates and get your thoughts. Thanks for all the great info Happy Holidays to you and your family.
That'd be awesome. I know you stay busy so I understand if you don't get to it. A mavic pro for $600 w/3 batteries, phantom 4 pro w/1 battery $800 or phantom 4 pro plus w/3 batteries for $1050; what do you buy?
I know was posted a while ago but great video. Watching all of your Mavic Pro videos while I await mine in the mail. Love how detailed this is. Assuming should not have an app crash issue now(hoping). I use iPhone 6.
Thanks Brenden. Yes this was a while back. Most issues have been fixed since. No crashes for me on Android any more. iPhone has had even less issues from what I hear. 👍
+TheSouper07 Apparently it uses "here" maps for the base map and they were having a known issue while I did this test. Best to have the crisp imagery as a basemap when doing waypoint missions. I'll do a thorough automated waypoint mission when the basemap issue is fixed.
Dustin, as usual great video. Looks like you were running the original DJI app, I have the DJI Go App4. I have it on my iPad Mini which fits perfectly in the controller, I got the 90 degree lightening cable, no hanging cables. Wonder if the DJI app 4 version will prevent your droid phone from crashing so much? I downloaded it about 2 weeks ago, no problems at all. Great that you tested a lot of the functions that I haven’t checked out yet. I learned a lot from this vid. Taking the Mavic down to Florida in a few weeks, too cold to fly up here. Looking forward to more Mavic vids. Hope you, and your family had a great holiday.
+Carl A Right on Carl. Your right! I just checked and the 4.0 is a separate app. I had thought the original would update to it and that was an oversight on my part. Will try again with the 4. Thanks and happy holidays :)
One of the better mavic vids I've seen. nice job. So, I'm a web-commercial producer, lots of camera's and gear, mavic one month now. seiing you walk away from the phone, i realized you weren't pulling the audio track from the cache. You must not mind lining up audio with video? Questions; you have a great speaking voice which I sure helps, but what wireless mic are you using, recorded to what...and are you having to line that up outboard audio track with video? Hopefully it is one long take, but if not you must have unique way to sync.
Hi Dustin, I thought your video review was excellent. It helped a novice like me understand what to expect from the drone, and featured great insight into the complex features available. Very much appreciated my friend.

+JinkProject Right on. I'm glad you found it useful :)
I love how you're telling us exactly what you're thinking. This is great! Mental Vocalization.
This has got to be one of the most beautiful places on the earth to do a drone review.
It’s like a random park lol
Thank you for taking the time to do a full in depth review.. People that want to buy these UAV'S will appreciate it very much.. Thank You!!!
For Photos, once you make the finger gesture, you have to spread them apart, and then in 3 secs it will auto take the photo (start your fingers close together as a small square, then spread them into a larger square)....just an FYI
Yes, it was a long ass video and of course there are a few things to learn however that was excellent and gave us all the info we needed! Thank you
I like these types of reviews cause he is still learning as he goes on so I feel like that it shows more
ScreamingPatriot very true
Nice video. I just got my Mavic Pro Platinum a couple of weeks ago. That’s an amazing piece of technology.
Hi neiswestnij ,do you still have your Mavic Pro Platinum ? Great to hear the longevity of these drones. That's really good life for lipo batteries 🍻
Same here)

Great video for a first time drone buyer! Yes...the Mavic is the first drone I've ever used. I've watched tons of videos on it and this was by far the best. Great job.
+Daniel Young Awesome Daniel. I'm glad you found this realistic review helpful even if some of the functionality was not super intuitive to me..lol
Just bought a spark but now this video make me want a mavic!
Back when the portrait mode is kinda gimmicky but now is one of the main selling point of the newer drones

"Edge your bet"? Do you mean HEDGE your bet? If so, I don't think you understand what that phrase means. LOL.
This is one of the best reviews for the Mavic pro I've seen on youtube. Keep up the great work!

Love the video. Usually, an app is the developers responsibility to make sure it works for that OS.

Good to see you have problems that many of us amateur users may encounter.
one of the best videos about mavic pro
What a review! I watched every single second of it I really hope I can save up some money soon to get one :D
good luck then.i will also save some and buy one.
To help from app crashing in Android, clear your cache for the app. If it still continues clear your cache for your phone.
good call

December 23rd and shorts and t-shirt, I’m so jealous here in the UK 🥶
I'm impressed with the gimbals, the stabilisation, the flying and the obstacle avoidance.
I'm less impressed with the camera itself and not at all impressed with the app problems. Excellent review
+didactylos4 diddy4 ditto :). I'm sure the bugs will be ironed out soon. I've also ordered a few lens filters (DJI should include some I think).
Bra thank you for this video! I just got a Mavic I went out a couple times but I learned so much just watching this. Mahalo!

+Don Fish Jr. Thanks Don. Will try again with the newer djiGo 4 app. I had thought the original app would update to it but it's separate :/
Awesome video! Nice job and very informative. With that review, I ordered mine today.

That is a tremendous Review ! BRAVO !
Thanks JP. Glad you enjoyed it :) Still more to do with the Mavic.
Exactly the kind of review I needed to see to help me decide. Awesome job. Picking mine up tomorrow.
It's intersting what happens over barely two years.
The app is stable an safe now and supports the german language :D
The autofokus is inkluded too. No need to focus manually anymore.
I love my Mavic and it was interesting to see a review from the end of 2016 :D
Thank you for putting your time in making this review. It was helpful.
I'm watching this on my 65 inch TV and its awesome.
A very good comprehensive review of the DJI MAVIC PRO Great Job.
+valveman12 Thanks. Glad you enjoyed :)
+Richard Bell Thanks Richard. That makes sense. I have ordered a heli mat which I'll be bringing along with my reviews when it arrives from now on.
Hi Dustin, great video and very helpful. Thank you for posting it.
I believe the reason the first RTH did not land on the keys is because the keys were not on the ground when you took off. If you remember, you put the keys on the ground afterwards. The following from DJI's FAQ explains the need for the Mavic to recognize the ground pattern it took off from:
How were you able to copy and paste from the manual. The latest (2017.11) edition won't allow that.
+steel1911 thanks for the great comment. My 2 favorite in which drone category? 😀
Hi! Thank you for taking the time showing all those great features. I'm really consider buying one of these now! :)
so i decided to escape the old folks home and go droning , watching your video of this made me decide on the mavic to learn how to fly and keep my 3DR for upgrades till later as i gain more experience i also upgraded the family SUV for a faster Porsche as a better getaway alternative-btw i subbed your channel for more RC education
+PseudologiaFantastica lol. Right on. Freedom! Get out and have some fun with it 😁👍
Greetings from Sweden!
I just got the Mavic Pro fly more kit and the goggles for 300$.
Great drone!
You, Sir, just got yourself a new subscriber!
I'll wait for the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, hopefully: IP64 water resistant, 360° computer vision sensors, Return To Controller feature (like former gopro Karma drones), autofocus, zoom lens.
Great intro to the Mavic. Well done on reviewing some of the great features.
Thanks for an in-depth review and all the info that I might have to check out. I’m waiting for my Mavic Pro Platinum to arrive! I’m hoping it will come before our Hawai’i trip. Awesome extensive tutorial, appreciate the above and beyond video! Mahalo.
seems to be great value for the money. i was going to get a 4 but i think this is better
If you like the portability factor and don't mind loosing a minute amount in the camera department this is the one to get.
Think so? It didnt do nothing my refurbished Bebop2 wouldnt do..for 500.00 less. But I will probably get one anyway. But I dont see it as being affordable. ITS EXPENSIVE! Its a toy.
this is the best review about the DJI mavic
+sulaiman ahmed wow thank you. I'm glad you think so :)
Dustin Dunnill thanks I'm just a kid. I am a professional drone flyer
Good Review Dustin, That's a real nice drone. Happy Holidays
+ACES on the Go Thanks man. Same to you :)
Great job and thanks for doing this. Looks like I may be ditching the Iris and going with the Mav.
+Brian Dixon ✌
your reviews and style are great. I like the details. but why do not you make them separate parted. 1.16 is too long. 20 minute parts would be great.
just a suggestion :) keep up good work!!
+selçuk dogan I know their long. Guess you could always pause and finish later when you have time. TH-cam remembers where you left off in each vid :)
lol! that's right. I need to log in my own TH-cam account across all my devices :)
Dustin Dunnill I got a hubsan h502s x4 desire today for christmas
selçuk dogan true the videos are great but they are just a bit long
You will love it!!
the best youtube channel
+Michael Hilmgard 😆 wow thanks 😁
Fabulous review! Can't wait until it gets a bit warmer so I can go flying! 13 today! I think that might be a bit too cold to fly?
+Dawson Ronan Just depends if you need the compactness and portability of the Mavic. If not, the P4 or Pro is a better choice for filming IMO
This video cam up, appreciate it’s 3 years old. What do think about the air 2?
Great video (I'm only half way through) and just subscribed. Can't wait for the Mavic Air version of this video. I have a question about the stick controls and setup. I see you're using the left stick for yawing. Since you're an experienced drone and rc pilot, what are your thoughts on using the right stick for yaw and the left for left/right? I believe that's customizable.
+William Kelley it's been updated since this video. So lots have been fixed. Stick control is just preference and you can change to your liking. Thanks for subscribing 😀👍
nice video man !! i just bought the bebop 2! super stoked about the quad world!
I love this review! I hope to be doing a review of one soon myself. I don't think I can top the detail and depth as seen here but I am really impressed with this review. Keep up the great work!
+Aerial and Sky Views Thank you ✌
Ignore the nitpicking - i think you did a great job and this was an awesome vid which clinched my purchase for me. Thumbs up!
+John Smith Thanks John. I mainly do but also try to take it as constructive criticism for future reviews 👍
Already an idea when you will put the follow up here on TH-cam? Can't wait for it.
I'm also very curious how it behaves now with android.
Thanks for a really useful and interesting video. I ordered one for myself today.
Awesome review. Thank you. I learned a lot.
Great Video Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Love your vids mate.
Pause on controller is actually emergency stop button, I know I thought it was a pause too it's not, it instantly makes the drone stop and hover.
I see that the course lock did work. When you turned it on and walked out of the pic. it stayed locked in place.
Any chance in doing a mavic pro review now in 2018 to see if it has gotten better? I love your reviews and it'd be great to see some months or years later after updates and get your thoughts. Thanks for all the great info Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Will try to Kraig 👍
That'd be awesome. I know you stay busy so I understand if you don't get to it. A mavic pro for $600 w/3 batteries, phantom 4 pro w/1 battery $800 or phantom 4 pro plus w/3 batteries for $1050; what do you buy?
If you want it to be compact get the Mavic. If that doesn't matter get the others you can afford.
Last question would you recommend the Autel Evo over the first Mavic Pro?
For the Evo camera and no fly zone restrictions yes. For everything else Mavic.
a really really excellent review and very informative. very brave of you to take on this project.a big big thank you.
Really bummed you didn't try out the gps feature. Can't wait to see that video.
+TheSouper07 Apparently it uses "here" maps for the base map and they were having a known issue while I did this test. Best to have the crisp imagery as a basemap when doing waypoint missions. I'll do a thorough automated waypoint mission when the basemap issue is fixed.
Wow looks like Santa was good to you this year ! Merry Christmas my friend may you and yours be blessed this holiday season .
+Spencer Boaz Thank you. Merry Xmas Spencer :)
Hey. Did you ever go back and re-do the Mavic Pro review with the proper app?
😂 never did but the videos I've done afterwards were with it
Love your detailed reviews man!
just bought one and is still waiting for it to be delivered so ofc course im watching it all :D
I had my mavic Pro up yesterday and did the precision landing a few times and every time it landed within 2in of where it took off from
Excellent video! I enjoyed watching this video before I make my purchasing decision!
Glad you enjoyed it Kevin :)
Hey Dustin, Have you had a chance to fly the mavic with the dji go 4 app? Is you phone still crashing?
HO! HO! HO! A Dustin Christmas Special! :D
Thanks!
+4FunRC lol...🎅
One of the better mavic vids I've seen. nice job. So, I'm a web-commercial producer, lots of camera's and gear, mavic one month now. seiing you walk away from the phone, i realized you weren't pulling the audio track from the cache. You must not mind lining up audio with video? Questions; you have a great speaking voice which I sure helps, but what wireless mic are you using, recorded to what...and are you having to line that up outboard audio track with video? Hopefully it is one long take, but if not you must have unique way to sync.
+Joel Justin Manual tedious syncing my Mic is plugged into cam
Hi Dustin, I thought your video review was excellent. It helped a novice like me understand what to expect from the drone, and featured great insight into the complex features available. Very much appreciated my friend.
Thanks Alan. I wasn't an expert on all the functions but I'm glad you got something out of it :)
