    Got my Mavic Air less than a month ago, taking my time with practicing. Your video was exactly what I needed before starting to play with the Intelligent flight modes, well explained! Thanks mate!

    Just got my Air and this video was by far the best intro to the flight modes that I found anywhere - even better than the official tuts from DJI. Well done!

    What I undertand for the tap and fly is the usefulness is that once you tell it to fly somewhere, you can still yaw and tilt to get a nice airborne dolly look which would be quite hard otherwise. But whether you actually want or need that is going to be very personal. I really like cinematic mode because if I am going straight and want to turn it is almost impossible to make that look smooth without some digital smoothing after the fact which I don't have the software for. Once I am turning you can keep it smooth with fine yaw inputs but going from the center stick deadzone to any kind of yaw move is always a little jerky unless you are in tripod or cinematic.

    I just got the air man and took it for a basic est flight yesterday! Got some sick shots! But can't wait to try some of the quick shots in some open locations! Its so fun to fly!!

    I liked the way you showed the different features of the MA...pretty simple...cut n dry...direct to the point...I am new to drone videography and already loving it...I have a MA but still in the learning phase...maybe when the weather get better here...I'll try the features on my MA as well...

    Question, in any of the flight modes (lets say circle) could you choose a house instead of yourself? And have the drone circle around said house instead of you? Thanks

  • @geoffreylau4172
    @geoffreylau4172 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love how you clearly reviewed and presented every single mode. I had my Mavic Air but don't know how to set the Distance/Rotation method you demonstrated at 2:06, is it because I watched the demo video so the information didn't show up? May well try next time I fly the drone.

    • @DroneSupremacy
      @DroneSupremacy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there :) You simply need to tap on the mode again to enter the settings for that particular mode - on some modes you can tweak the distance, on others you can play with the rotation (clockwise/anti-clockwise), as well as the speed. let me know if you need some help with that!

  • @ReviewPetti

    Thank you so much for the video. I’ve learnt from your other video as well. I want to learn how do I call drone back and take it in hand. I have rented a drone to learn flying but don’t know how to call it back. Pause button didn’t work well.

  • @RGedack
    @RGedack 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Mike, thanks for the video. Just one remark. You mentioned but otherwise completely ignored the advantages of the new 3 additional modes of the tap fly mode. Especially the "free" mode is the follow up of the former course lock. It allows you to fly one direction (in a stable and straight line, if you wish!) without having to control the forward stick (just set the speed slider) and you can then steer your camera which direction you want - without losing the chosen direction of the drone course.

    • @DroneSupremacy
      @DroneSupremacy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for this remark - I actually believe I had to go deeper and talk about those modes as well, but I have to test them a bit further so I can be helpful with that. Other than that, I've seen a couple of clips and it actually seems quite handy, more than I initially thought. So really, thanks for the heads up and I'll update on that when possible!

    • @swooshdave
      @swooshdave 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, I think you should spend more time with the flight features you didn't like and maybe you'll find that with experience you may change your mind. But this was a great overview.

    That's really cool that Active Track allows you to fly the drone at the same time. Makes sense, since it's the camera that's controlling the subject and controlling the position via the gimbal, which has a lot of positional freedom. Thanks a ton for the info!

    Question:
    Is "Quick shots -> Circle" a bit the same as "point of interrest"? seems they both circle around you.
    Does this drone searches the opbect to point to with video image recognision? (I have another drone aswell, which used the GPS coordinates of the remote controll
    3th: did I miss the track feature with wakepoints? That you can draw a track on the map picture.

    Nice video. Super informative for a novice like myself. Please can you share what editing software you would recommend for a beginner?

    • @DroneSupremacy
      @DroneSupremacy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Jason! Depends on what OS you're using - for Windows you can try Davinci Resolve (which is free), and is very good. If you want to get better at editing I suggest start with Adobe Premiere and watch a lot of tutorials on TH-cam - once you learn the basics it gets easier. For MacOS definitely Final Cut Pro X. Good luck! :)

    This has probably been asked. Can it record you walking forwards so the drone would be flying backwards? How close can you fly towards or next to the water without losing it? I fear flight to far away.

    • @DroneSupremacy

    Great Video!! Awesome info. on how all the modes work! I have a question if I may; I understand that you can use Active Track without the RC up to 328’ (100m). What I'm unsure of is; Do you need to have a cellular enabled device that has GPS for example, an iPad w/ cellular in order to fly beyond 328’ (100m)? Thanks 😊

    came across this while researching drones as it will be my first time. Thanks for the detailed tutorial. how will you compare this with the new Mini 2 SE?

    • @DroneSupremacy
      @DroneSupremacy  ปีที่แล้ว

      The air is pretty old by todays standards, whereas the Mini 2 SE is newer but it’s the cheapest model dji offers. I'd personally advise you to look into Mini3/Mini3 pro as they're the best bang for buck drones right now

    • @digeratz18
      @digeratz18 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DroneSupremacy Thanks for the advice. I went on getting the mini 3 pro, as it will be my first time, I believe an added obstacle avoidance will help. I was first leaning to get a 2nd hand Mavic air then I've learned battery production already stopped and if you can find selling one it's now too expensive.

      Glad to hear that Lloyd! How do you find the difference between the Spark and the Air?

    • @grumpyvlogger
      @grumpyvlogger 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drone Supremacy , the difference I find is the Air is a lot more stable, the video if fantastic with the third axis. Plus there was a bit more wind yesterday and I would not have flown the Spark in it simply because it would have been blown around quite a bit more. Also the obstacle avoidance is fantastic. It goes around things rather than just stopping.

      If it's able to detect it (it should be) it will stop. Even in this video, in one of the qiuckshots i had a similar experience and the drone stopped automatically to avoid crashing, so it's very reliable in that sense.

    Now this is what I call a GOOD tutorial! Now I can really throw away the user's manual from my Mavic Air. :)))... one question please: in Quick flights modes the proximity sensors DO work?? Because you said if there are obstacles in your way you have to stop the flight. And there is also the warning message appearing on the screen. Thank you! Cheers from Romania.

    • @DroneSupremacy
      @DroneSupremacy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks dude! Yes, they do work all the time - you can see the warnings on the screen, so you should be OK even when you fly near some trees/obstacles - the drone should sense them and avoid them automatically or it will just stop and wait for your command. Have fun with your Air! :)

    • @R0bothamster
      @R0bothamster 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't forget the Air only has front, rear and underside sensors, so if you're doing a circle or helix there's a risk it could crash as it's flying sideways.

      You're welcome, Mauro! I'm currently in the same boat, the weather does not allow any flying so I'm stuck at home not able to create more content with the drone..But I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

    The thing with Asteroid is, you can't watch the finished video on your phone. To check out how good Asteroid is, you need to dump the video from the aircraft onto a PC or link the aircraft's SD card to a television panel.

      You can watch it on your phone, you just have to download it direct from the Mavic Air through the DJI Go4 app (play button bottom right of screen, then on the asteroid vid hit the DL icon)
      Plays back on my Samsung S8 no problem.

      What Rob says is correct. It’s the same on iPhone. You need to click download if you store the clip on SD card.

    Great tutorial thank you very much for posting question on the dashboard what is that secondary vertical indicator On the right hand side, nobody is ever explained that in the videos I've watched it's like a vertical blue graph????

    • @DroneSupremacy
      @DroneSupremacy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The blue vertical graph shows how much the camera is tilted - all the way from the top position to -90 degrees when it points all the way down :)

      To be honest no, but I do buy “DJI Care” warranty so if anything happens to my drone it will be covered by them
