Dude I really appreciate this video so true. To this day I still play madden 12 because it’s the last madden to have a real franchise mode. I’ve played through all 30 seasons twice and it’s so enjoyable. For me the draft classes are so awesome because you identify with each player as if they are real. The pictures are real even if they are just photo shop versions of bad players. As you said the mode has so much detail. Its not without its flaws like some players are white when they’re portraits are black and vice versa but that’s rare and the progression style is messed up. The solution is not hard if they cared. Literally copy the formula for madden 12. Give 30 years of draft classes with real photos. Make the players accurate to photos. Fix progression so it’s more performance based. Then add in better gameplay for modern times. I personally like the interface from 12 but my favorite was madden 08 on ps3 with the titantron look.
I quit modern madden 4 years ago now and switched back to madden 12 and it’s like night and day. With the proper sliders the game play is challenging but makes me feel like ive earned wins, the off-season is something I look forward to, and making moves during the season like resigning players and restructuring contracts feels good. It’s sad that an 11 year old game makes me feel better than anything put out now, it’s a disgrace.
This was the last Madden that rewarded a deep franchise run. But I always felt there was something a little lacking in franchise presentation, Monday morning discussion is massive for fans and the Twitter board in 13 was ahead of its time really.
This detail is soooooo underated, I don't see you mention. In Madden 12 they put lesser known/players who didn't get draftable grades. It was really just randomly generated UDFA but most would suck, but sometimes you land a beast of a player. Because algorithm would have random proportions.. a feature will probably never see 🙈 again.
Does anyone remember the bug in the early 2000's (03 or 04) if your franchise won three superbowls in a row, all of your player's AWR would jump to 99 automatically?
I agree with you a 100%. I loved Madden 12 and Madden 08. The only way Madden will change if people stop buying the game and governments catch on to EAs Bs And Stop them From Putting gambling into Rated E Games
I still play madden 12 and will never buy a new one. I just love creating custom players and teams to compete in tournaments or insert into franchise mode. When 13 came out, literally every feature I mentioned disappeared. Fuck that. I never gave a shit about ultimate team. 12's gameplay is "chunky," but I honesty prefer it over the floppy look of the newer games trying to be realistic. The rosters had most of the best players of the last decade and you can add whoever you like. 12 is the most updated madden that counts in my mind.
PS2 was definitely the golden age of Madden games! I miss the way Madden use to be. The franchise mode was fantastic. The preseason position battles. I remember the small details that would be in the game. Like in practice mode. They actually wore practice Jerseys. It was so immersive. Madden looks great now, but sadly that's all it has going for them.
I remember as a kid this was my first ever Madden game. I played Madden 12 and really did not realize just how bad the series got after until several years later. I never had Madden 13 but from everything I heard..... Yeah, awful. Then I decided to buy Madden 25. So, how much did I like Madden 25? I played a few matches, checked out some of it's features and wondered why it was a lot worse then Madden 12. So then I just stuck with Madden 12 until SEVERAL years later when I eventually got a next gen console in late 2017. I decided to pick up Madden 18 because I figured that it would be cool and I saw that it just went to a new Engine and got a new story mode called: Longshot. I personally really enjoy playing Madden 18. Plus I experience like ZERO glitches. It's frozen like once but that's it. For those of you wondering I either play the regular Matchups against the CPU or, what I do most of the time, play as my awesome QB in custom Franchise mode. I was disappointed that I couldn't be Field Goal kicker but, it's alright. Now, in 2020 I am still using Madden 18 and have not upgraded to Madden 19 or 20. From everything that I've seen online, Madden 19 and 20 are both extremely buggy and glitchy. Also almost the exact same as 18. I am expecting to buy Madden 21 as it is most likely the last Madden game on this generation of consoles. Maybe Madden 22 gets supported on both this generation and the next generation of consoles, but that's no guarentee. I hope you all enjoyed my little story that I made here on my history with Madden games. If you liked it I would appreciate a thumbs up so more people can see this lovely comment. Anyways I hope you all have an amazing day, Goodbyeeee.
I have three Madden games. Madden 07 Hall of Fame Edition with John Madden on the cover, and Madden 11 both for PS2. I have Madden 25 for PS3. I play those games on my backwards ps3, and while I like both Madden 07 and 11 for it's features from franchise mode to create a team/player etc., I was disappointed that Madden 25 didn't have all those features anymore and instead have connected franchise, NFL Network online news, and EA Sports online. None of those features interested me that is why Madden pretty much went downhill after 12. EA Sports seems to care about making profit from the newer consoles instead of improving the gameplay on the current consoles and Madden is no exception. I would love to give Madden 12 a try on my ps3.
I still believe ESPN NFL 2K5 and Madden 12 are the greatest NFL football video games ever made, with the Madden games from the mid 2000's decade close behind.
I still play madden 12 on ps2 and I just made a franchise where I relocated every team and I'm taking it one year at a time. We need to keep this (#NFLDROPEA) alive
I spent hours on Madden 12 create a team and miss it more and more every year. That's one reason I like 2k, it's fully customizable and you can even upload logos and uniforms to use in the game. It's a shame EA went down this path and even sadder that I don't think it's going to change anytime soon.
You forgot to add Madden 12 had dymaninc attendance. Weather, record of the team, and time of year would be a factor on what the attendance would be. For example if the 1-11 Jaguars were facing the 2-10 Browns then no one would show up.
Madden 12 was so much fun. Me and my friend used to play 2 player on the same team and would have a ton of fun pancake blocking people with a FB and clearing a path for a big run.
Also I loved the thumb stick power and finesse moves on defensive line. Me and my brother drafted a DT named Steven Twilly and he was basically a super Aaron Donald. We still talk about that even today.
I remember on one of the last NCAA titles, I took a player through college and went to export him and it wasn't an option. Like what? For years, I would create a player in NCAA then export to Madden. Not having that option anymore really turned me off from the EA Madden/NCAA franchise. That and Franchise mode taking a massive dump.
I used to love this just because they showed the stadium in the menu before you went to play the game, that’s literally the reason I love franchise so much
This felt the most realistic with a natural gameplay. Now everything is getting picked off and players are just to elite on the video game. 2K come help them out
The main reason there is a decline in quality at Madden was because since 2006 EA has bought the license for the NFL for billions which means less money put into development.
great game and great sound track. I love replaying madden 12 because it was by far the best recent franchise modes especially with create a team and importing from ncaa. Always hated the trade logic and how players under contract just randomly became free agents, but other than that one of the last great maddens
This was the last Madden game I really played. One thing I remember is that the game was clearly trying replicate pressure from the defense leading to an inaccurate throw. But what really happened was that if you were hit while throwing the ball, it would just go to straight to the nearest defender, sometimes defying physics. Made it so much easier to throw interceptions in a game that is already know for unrealistic interceptions.
Its like McDonald’s when it first started, it started with a dream with giving the customer what you always want to whatever makes me another quick buck after this transaction
I think this is a perfect example of what happens when a company has no competition. EA know that with that exclusive deal they can throw out any old game and it well sell, simply because there are no other "NFL" games that can be made. Plus without the NFL rights there's no reason for other larger game companies to jump in and make a game since the return to investment won't be there. Mix that in with smaller studios and their restrictions in budget and talent nothing can come close to a great functioning football game. Great video as always man.
I need the front and back loading of contracts; restructuring and converting contracts; 5th year options and varying bonuses ( signing, workout, roster). Great video!!!
Not Only all those Features you forget and HONESTLY....it’s one of the best ...when your best players HOF worth retired there was a hall of Fame page where you could go back and look at there stats and the awards you won w them ..build a legacy immersions baby!
Madden 25 did not allow you to upload a player from the heisman road in ncaa 14. You can however do draft classes from the franchise mode in ncaa 14 however.
2:45! THIS!!!!!!! Why tf is this gone??? Browsing through Madden 20 when you view stats from the home screen it shows the teams that that particular player had played for but start playing in franchise mode and it's gone.

Bro. Everytime I turned on my 360. I played this. This was my first madden besides madden arcade 2009. Superstar mode was so great and I loved it. There was a difficulty called "custom" that could allow you to put up over 100 points! EA please make better games again. I always made teams, Jerseys, and stadiums. Franchise was the best thing ever. I always used to be mad bcuz teams would win my player would always get a better offer from a different team in franchise😂

Does anyone remember the bug in the early 2000's (03 or 04) if your franchise won three superbowls in a row, all of your player's AWR would jump to 99 automatically?
Wow that's interesting! Though I don't recall ever winning the Super Bowl three times I'm going have to try that out one day lol
@@skillracoonful Same here in Madden 07, all my guys were 99 OVR with max awareness
No one:
Phil Sims on madden 25: MY GOSH
Fun fact: Microsoft still has this game up to download on Xbox 360.
Ngl madden 12 had the best intro
13 had that Ray Lewis intro that was pretty lit too
Madden 11 had a hype intro
I didnt liked madden 18 either. Madden 12 was great. Had also madden 25 but it was not as good. Just hooked up my xbox360 again with madden 12.
I would love to give Madden 12 a try on my ps3.
madden 12 brings back good memories of old logos, players and stadiums in 2011, good season and game man
You're finally doing a video on my fav Madden. Thank you
I still believe ESPN NFL 2K5 and Madden 12 are the greatest NFL football video games ever made, with the Madden games from the mid 2000's decade close behind.
You are absolutely correct !
Sad that I grew up with late PS3 early PS4 Madden but I’m glad that I had 12 to play. Played so many hours on this.
Why get rid of coaching tree?
Why get rid of pump up crowd?
Thanks EA for everything.
Madden 08 and 09 were my childhood, this brought back so much nostalgia
Between 11 and 12 when they switched the tackling systems was the decline of madden. Madden 11 was the last good madden.
I agree. I got into Madden 11 a couple years after playing 12 alot. 13 has great gameplay, but no fantasy draft makes 11 better in my opinion.
Madden 11 is my all time favorite
Peter Griffin I never had a console but I had a wii and that was the only game I played
Jacob Thorson is the wii not a console..💀
𝒲𝒶𝓋𝒾𝒾 lol it is
Amen
Agreed
its simple, if you make a good game you will make more money than you think.
Hands down my favorite Free Agency mode. The bidding war on the clock made you feel like you really had to target specific players.
While ea makes an ass of themselves over there, I'll just be over here... still playing NFL 2k5
im getting a ps2 soon to experience all the goods NFL/madden games
Lol! Amen😝
NFL 2k5 is still best nfl game ever made
Madden 12 was on ps2 aswell. I think the ps2 version had all the features in madden 08.
Yeah after a couple years on the ps3 they kind of gave us the same game on ps2 every year
Madden 12 on PS2 was so good
The only thing Madden 12 on PS2 had lost from Madden 08 on PS2 was the classic teams and it gained the fight for the fumble mechanic from Madden 10.
@@TheNewChevyRoll48 I never noticed that. Then again I haven't had the ps2 version for years.
I played madden 12 on ps2
Madden 12 is the best one to me besides 04 for ps2. I play 12 more than anything for ps3.
You forgot to add Madden 12 had dymaninc attendance. Weather, record of the team, and time of year would be a factor on what the attendance would be. For example if the 1-11 Jaguars were facing the 2-10 Browns then no one would show up.
That was Madden 11 actually. I can't fault EA for removing that though. NFL forced EA to remove that.
As said above, nfl forced madden to remove dynamic attendance from the game
This makes me want to cry and I'm 25.....
I miss playing as the college players coming into the league
carrying those rivalries were fun
Madden 12 was so much fun. Me and my friend used to play 2 player on the same team and would have a ton of fun pancake blocking people with a FB and clearing a path for a big run.
“The last good madden” - proceeds to show a PAT from the 40 yd line
Also I loved the thumb stick power and finesse moves on defensive line. Me and my brother drafted a DT named Steven Twilly and he was basically a super Aaron Donald. We still talk about that even today.
I remember on one of the last NCAA titles, I took a player through college and went to export him and it wasn't an option. Like what? For years, I would create a player in NCAA then export to Madden. Not having that option anymore really turned me off from the EA Madden/NCAA franchise. That and Franchise mode taking a massive dump.
I used to love this just because they showed the stadium in the menu before you went to play the game, that’s literally the reason I love franchise so much
Do a video on/called "The Last Tolerable Madden"
17
@@TheEgganator324 17 is mine too. The last madden I bought and kept.
This felt the most realistic with a natural gameplay. Now everything is getting picked off and players are just to elite on the video game. 2K come help them out
This is the last Madden I owned, been updating 2k5 ever since. Smh
2k5 is probably top Madden
How does one get a modern or even an NFL roster from the past few years onto 2k5 for the PS2?
@@Negative28 I have Flying Finn's NFL 2k5 editor so its just a matter of updating every year.
Exactly why I haven't bought a Madden since Madden 17
Now we can't even play madden 17 i tryed it crashed cause no ea servers
Its like McDonald’s when it first started, it started with a dream with giving the customer what you always want to whatever makes me another quick buck after this transaction
Ultimate team was at its peak in madden 13. I was able to make an incredible team without paying a penny...
Great video as always man.
you should just do a madden 20 review again, but call it “the last madden”
Even Madden 24 cant have those features from Madden 12.
the fall of franchise really hurt me, this has been my favorite part for many years
I still have Madden 12 for PS2. I play that almost every week over the new Madden games that's come out
Honestly to me, Madden 12 or maybe even Madden 05 might be the best football video game besides ESPN NFL 2K5 that I have ever played.
ESPN NFL 2K5 is the best of all time
@@alextremo824 ESPN NFL 2K5 is truly the best of all time I agree, just saying Madden 12 comes in 2nd.
Madden 12 also had a glitch where you could sort incoming rookies by value in franchise mode. I built some incredible dynasties.
I miss superstar especially as a CB that's one thing i wish they brought back
being either a WR or a CB on that locked in camera angle was so lit
I need the front and back loading of contracts; restructuring and converting contracts; 5th year options and varying bonuses ( signing, workout, roster). Great video!!!
“I’d like to see the stats of my players I’d like to sign before I sign them”
“WHAT?! *expodes*”
Madden and NCAA 12 was the awesome duo .. many hours bouncing in between
Also i still play ps2 madden games and just manually update the rosters every few years
This current Madden really isn't bad. A lot of steps in the right direction this year, I wouldn't say it's good yet but it's definitely not terrible
tdrivers1102 AGREED
I thought I was tripping for loving this game so much. Now I see I wasn't alone lol. Love madden 12.
I love the fact that you can save highlights from games in this
I miss the auto draft they had in superstar mode 🤧🤧
2:45! THIS!!!!!!! Why tf is this gone??? Browsing through Madden 20 when you view stats from the home screen it shows the teams that that particular player had played for but start playing in franchise mode and it's gone.
Hey EA watch this video and put all of this back in Madden 21
2:23 Rams f̶r̶a̶n̶c̶h̶i̶s̶e̶ sorry CONNECTED CAREER
I remember playing this game on the Wii U and it made me question my existence by how mind-numbing it was
Solid video. Great Job
the fact you can edit your player ratings during the season was awesome
Great video! Love your stuff. You've helped me buy some of the older games I haven't played in a while. Might even pick this game up too if I find it in the flea market
I've been saying it for a long time that Madden 12 was the last good Madden. I still have my Xbox 360 with my Madden 12 game.
In Madden 12 I created 32 teams and have them play each other in my own league in franchise mode as well as in Madden 09 on og Xbox.
