The PS2 was great for this sort of thing. NCAA football went all the way to 2011 on PS2. And NBA2k went all the way to 2012. It says a lot about its longevity as a console.
I ever played Madden NFL 12 PS2 back in 2016, Brandon. Man, 7 years after playing that game its still FAR above all PS5 EA SPORTS games. Even better than F1 22!
after all, the ps2 is the most best-selling console of all time, which explains why developers were still pushing out games past it's lifespan

I learned football on this era of games, an amazing time. Haven't played a Madden now since 2019. I had no idea 12 went this hard on PS2, I wish we were still in that time.

Or get yourself the s23 add and emulator and you can play right from your phone and broadcast it to your TV. I'm using my son's PS5 controllers. I literally just downloaded the game today.

I got one in January 28th 2012. Madden 12 PS2 & 3 are still amazing.
There's something about the fluidity of the running that always got me excited to play. It felt like speed translated the best with this engine. I think I played some franchises 80-100 years, what an amazing era of madden games. Recent gen madden is horrific.
I thought it capped you at 30 years? I've yet to find out.

I have one with the OAKLAND Raiders where Mike Vick is like 36-37yrs old, and still the #1 QB in the NFL.
His spd & acc regressed to 60, BUT his Thp, Tha, & Awr are all 99s. And he's still "sort of" elusive when he needs to be
Madden 08 on ps2 is definitely a top pick of mine for GOAT Madden overall.
I want to give Madden 12 another shot, I posted on this video why I haven't played it, but I may tough it out just to go back to it and play a Fran Mode.
I think I already have a team set-up, just can't remember if it was my Hometown Phila Eagles or if I was using the Raiders on 12
@@PontFlair Madden 11 and 12 on PS2 are both underrated. They play well and I've seen tidy animations on those that I haven't seen on earlier titles.
@@gth804f Yes, all of the Madden franchises cap you out at 30 years max (for the 2k series its 31 years). I'm thinking the original commenter probably meant they did about 100 years combined between many different franchises over the years.

Owned this for the ps2, swear I played franchise mode until the disc quit working. Was a solid game. Turned a 7th round qb in to a stud that topped the league in stats

Another cool feature in this game that wasnt in older ps2 maddens was player momentum. Players could get hot or cold depending on performance and it would give stat boosts in game

THANK YOU for including the part about the create-a-play mode. That is my favorite mode in Madden that they got rid of. I agree 100% that they should have that mode in newer games, but disable it for online play because of the possible glitch plays that could be made. THANK YOU THANK YOU for including that. My favorite part of playing Madden is making my own playbooks and I feel like they have a lot of work to do to make that a much better mode. Nope my guy this has it as well that was my favorite creating my own formations madden on the ps2 was the best the game flow was so fluid and smooth and you could break tackles running the football was a blast
When I watch these old Madden videos it does make me pray that the new Maximum Football game is at least able to hit the same fun & exciting feeling these games gave us. The modern Madden's have sucked any enjoyment out of playing a football game.

This is one of the most well made videos I’ve ever seen. I make videos of the old Maddens on TikTok, but this is a different level. I played Madden on PS2 until Madden 10 came out, then I played them on newer gens. I feel the same way about the franchise, the PS2 engine and features puts the other versions to shame. I never had Madden 12 on PS2, and you’ve convinced me to go get it. It’s sad what Madden has become, but I’ll always play the old ones.
This game is very nostalgic. I played it for about 5 months and had a good time. I always went more towards Madden 07-09 on the PS2 though. I believe those were better imo.
09 Madden was my all time favorite. All because it wa the first year with the abilty to Supersim.

98 is my favorite because it was my first. But I think madden was amazing between 2000-2005

This game is so nostalgic for me. I remember playing this so much when i was younger. Sadly the game broke then the ps2 slim did. So i moved on and started playing madden 11 for the ps3 and both games are so underrated in my opinion
This game will always be my go-to, even if it is 13 years old. The reason why I stay true to this game comes down to the customization. It is nice to be able to do practically anything I want when it comes to creating my own team to rosters that are up to date.
This was the last madden for psp too, I still playing the psp version on my phone and is fun and incredibly deep

I am a PS2 loyalist and I'll take it to my grave. I have every single Madden for PS2 except 09 and 10, because I played 08 so vigorously. Got 11, thinking it would be the last one along with NCAA Football 11. Well, to my surprise, walked into the 'ol Wal-Mart in August of 2011, and what do you know? A Madden 12, for the PS2, with Peyton Hillis on the cover, released without much, if any, fanfare. The most pleasant surprise of this game was that they still allowed you to import a NCAA 11 draft class. If you wanted it to align with Madden 12, just import a class from the 2011 season in NCAA Football.
Actually, maybe the most pleasant surprise was the gameplay. I've seen animations and tackling in this game that I haven't seen in any other title. I saw Demaryius Thomas (RIP) do a double toe-tap in the endzone near the sideline for a TD. I saw Fred Jackson of the Bills run through 2 Jet DBs at the same time. This game is highly underrated and for $39, seems like a bargain now.
In this game for the PS2 version, I created 32 teams from scratch and replaced the NFL teams with my said 32 created teams

Super sim was added in the 09 games on both NCAA and Madden. It's hard for me to go back and do a franchise on anything older because of the lack of super sim

Madden 12 on PS2 was great. I remember playing with my Dallas Cowboys 🤠 on Family play. Lots of fun. It was a deep game with loads of options and depth. Unlike Madden nowadays.

This Madden was memorable cause they held some event down in NYC at Bryant Park that year where you had to sign up for something and received a free copy of Madden. Core memory unlocked. Different times indeed.
I LOVE PS2 Madden 12 for every reason you listed. My personal favorite though is Madden 11 PS2 simply because I like the rosters and soundtrack better. Long live PS2 Madden!

It's sad to think that the 6th Generation of consoles was seemingly the peak of gaming. I guess the hardware for those consoles are just WAY more powerful than the PS5 and the Series X.

Importing an NCAA draft class is possible via NCAA 11. The text in this game says it's importing it from NCAA 12, but that never came out on PS2.

You are right about different versions being different. I have Madden 11 on the Wii, and it is not the same as the video you made about it on Xbox 360 and PS3.

@@Mainsterrbro I remember I made like 20 plays across 3 custom formations. I actually recall making a version of the brotherly shove and it was just as broken as it is in real life. Just giving the player options, even if people don't buy it for them, or even use them is important.

@@Mainsterrthe Madden series has fallen off so hard for the lack of attention to detail stuff like that, create-a-fan, an actual uniform creator, and an actual ability to make everyone look different. Now everyone looks essentially the same. I remember making 7 foot 415 pound player and loving how different he looked from other players

Personally I always go for Madden 11, purely because NCAA 12 wasn't released on PS2. I like playing full player careers, starting in college. So I've chosen to use Madden 11 since in the end, both are amazing and 11 has all the features I want. If I want a franchise mode, I just boot up NFL 2k5

This might sound crazy but wouldn't a PS5 or series console have enough power to run a built-in emulator if EA wanted to include one of these games in a bundle in the future.
I'm talking about something entirely different from retroarch and Dev mode. I would love to see one of these PS2 Madden's be bundled together in the next decade that can run at 4K resolution. I would be streaming it and updating its rosters every year if it got that type of support.

From what I can tell, the PSP version of Madden 12 seems to be practically identical to the PS2 version which isn't surprising considering that the PSP had a truck ton of ports like that.
The hit stick on ps2 madden is so good, you really lay the smack fr, all the new generation games feel slow moving

Also: Almost all the helmets in 12 would had failed the current helmet standard, and the old helmet worn by Tom Brady (Style 1) would be the first to be banned or grandfathered out of the league.

I actually downloaded this game to my computer for my PS2 emulator, but I haven't tried it yet. Guess I will have to try it at some point down the line.
From what I can see, the game pretty much is a copy of the PS2 version of Madden 08, but that is not a bad thing at all since Madden 08 was a great game.
It's amazing how all these PS2 football games from back then had gameplay and game mode depth nailed down so perfectly that no football game from the PS3/Xbox 360 era (except for all pro football 2k8) or the subsequent console generations have topped them yet.

I noticed that FIFA and Madden NFL 2002 came for the GameCube then later both the 07 games came for GameCube then Madden 08 for the GameCube. Later on Madden and Fifa 10-12 came for the PS2

What was the last year on ps2 to make your own substitution packages? Like put in a whole 2nd string? Haven’t bought a copy of madden since 2004
Stat outputs in 12 were a lot better. The best QBs would throw 40 tds and 4500 yards with a higher QBR. in 08 it was like 25 TDS 20 ints 3000 yards and like 80 QBR.

This was the last offical Madden NFL 12 that i purchased in 2011. PS3 was cool on how they displayed the series, but in a way they had to catch up with NCAA Football on PlayStation 3 and it did take notice finally on Madden 09. But as for Madden series and NCAA Football series, hands down golden on the PS2. And the concept of "flex scheduling" was ingenious switching a Week 17 matchup to a 9:00PM primetime highlighter on Monday Night, Madden and the writers who put the real schedules in, you're #1. 😊😊. Now its 2024 im collecting all my Maddens and NCAA Football again since i got my PS2 back and its gonna be on and cracking like Stuart Scott.

I just started a Franchise on Madden 25 and actually used your sliders on it. It is so fun. The game looks and plays better than Madden 23.

You should review NBA 2K12 for the PS2! It's not really that great tbh (2K China and Virtuos kept decade-old bugs and did bare minimum on the rosters), but I still have fond memories of it

Only issue with Madden 10,11,12 on PS2 was if you played alot of seasons in franchise mode after awhile your coach and certain players would start looking glitchy and cringy.. mostly because by those games they stopped testing it because they had already been out on PS3/Xbox 360..by year 3 your coaches face would look colorful 😂
